That's kind of true. I still use the full 10-15 amps of the cigarette lighter to power things like air pumps. If I'm only doing low current draw stuff you can be right. I didn't want to decrease the current rating of the cigarette lighter.
Nice mod. I have a 2016 Skoda Yeti that has the same problem that I need to fix. How ridiculous, in 2023, that auto manufacturers are still using outdated cigarette lighters to power electronic devices. Surely, they could have come up with an improved small form-factor socket by now?
did you think about wiring with the acc of the radio instead of messing around with the fuses? your idea is awesome, but this could be another way to do it. What do you think about?
That is a great idea!! That would work too. On my old Evo I did the gauges this way so I was familiar with it. But now that I think about it, that should be easier. I might do that with my truck.
Man I can’t thank you enough, I just got everything installed and that diagram was a lifesaver
That's awesome! You are very welcome. It's just a little feature that we take for granted in newer cars.
All that extra work is not needed. All you gotta do is tap the cigarette lighter fuse into any ignition powered fuse

Nice tutorial. Do you think it might work only with the add on circuit fuse without the relay?

@@MaqsVids probably you will have parasites if you take signal from radio cables. I think your way is safer .
Hey what garage wire were you using?
Hey! I used 16 gauge. ;)

It seems like all German cars has this idiotic defect SMH 🤨
😂And old cars. My truck is the same. The old cars were made at a time when we didn't want to charge stuff so much.
