The red crown tube is a practical safety feature which IMHO should be a feature for all watches with screw down crowns. The only exception I can think of are the innovative wobbly crowns on the Vostoks.
I agree. However, on the PD-1671 the red crown tube still shows when the crown is fully screwed down, therefore it serves no safety purpose. It is decorative only and IMHO only suits some of the colour versions. Thanks for watching and commenting, it's appreciated👍

Also interested in the Lorus Lumibright field watch (full dial glows fantastic - sub brand of Seiko - Alba Titanium has a similar look too), gray dial Casioak, Vostok Amfibia Reef GMT and the Citizen Promaster Land GMT World Time - which fills my Glycine Airman Base 22 itch at a fraction of the cost.

Excellent review Al. I'm late for this one. I've flip flopped again and after saying no more Pagani Design I saw a review of the Tudor and went on the hunt for the best BB58 homage. In the battle Pagani won it really only for the dial texture. I ordered the black bezel version after watching two videos, Pagani versus the San Martin during which I immediately noticed the case finishing on the Pagani as being way inferior to that on the very much more expensive San Martin. There must be some DIY way of improving this if you wanted to. I had a twang of regret this morning from pulling the trigger last night but it's probably still a decent choice even if influenced by bedtime painkillers. We shall see. It must have been time for another watch. 👍

I think you'll enjoy this one, it wears a lot better than the slab sides would suggest, helped by a very comfortable bracelet. It looks like you couldn't put a cigarette paper between them. One's a nod to a Rolex and the Seiko looks like a nod to the Pagani. My regret yesterday was assuaged by a mate getting a sale on a guitar for me so it might be time for yet another watch today! Take care pal. 👍

Great review m8! New subscriber here. I personally love Pagani, great value for dollar spent. Not a fan of this one only because I don’t like the hand set, I find that hour hand quite ugly and can’t get myself to enjoying looking at the watch. Other than that, yeah the brushing does look a little tough on that one

My intention is not to troll, but the vid is focused on the upgraded quality, why the case sides are so horribly brushed hence give the appearance of of a nail file...The movement, although with a wide -/+ range, can be reliable but I doubt Seiko will deal with possible issues. The question is, will the Chinese manufacturer ....On average, a watch fan (that opt for Chinese homages) will buy 3-4 pieces. The total value would get them an entry level watch with a warranty that would be honored 100% imho....

It's a while since I made this video but I seem to recall that I tried to seek a balance between the positives and negatives of the watch, including mentioning the brushing on the side of the case, as well as several other areas that I felt could be improved. I devoted a whole chapter of the video to areas of improvement. I'm sorry if you feel that the video is too focused on the positive aspects. I guess that different watch collectors simply have different collection strategies, some choosing to own multiple budget pieces, whilst others prefer to own 1 or 2 more expensive pieces. Also, some collectors will prefer homage pieces over original pieces and vice versa. Personally, I think collectors should just buy whatever they enjoy and from wherever they feel comfortable. I appreciate that buying Chinese branded watches from Aliexpress won't suit everyone. Thanks for watching and all the best.

Beautiful watch, but, just too big and bulky, IMO. I wish Pagani would make this exact watch in a 39mm size with 20mm lugs (same as the Tudor BB58), hopefully keeping the case thickness to no more than 12.5mm. And some AR coating would be nice. Do that and I'd gladly pay $175
There's no getting away from the fact that it is a chunky, heavy watch that will appeal to some but not others. If PD made another version with the dimensions you suggested + AR, I think it'd be a big seller. Thanks for watching!

Good point, if it was obscured when screwed down, it wouldn't be an issue.
