    And regarding your saying about cheap Chinese watches, I would rather go for some of this homages knowing that with 2 kids and a mortgage is very difficult to own the real thing, as much as I would like to own a Tudor BB58 or a Rolex Submariner my common sense tells me just to dream about it! But when you look at the quality San Martin offers I would definitely go for one or two of their homages! I better look in the mirror and be happy about myself knowing that my kids have almost everything they need wearing a Chinese homage, rather that looking in the mirror and being shamed about myself wearing the real thing and not being able to offer what my kids need! And this is purely just my opinion! Thanks, lovely reviews mister, keep up the good work 🤟👍👏

    New to the channel and very impressed with your production and insights. As for the Chinese Homage watches I am an enthusiastic collector. Most of the time these homages are of watches I so admire and could never obtain. Personally it has opened the door of horology for me. A lot of these homages are not in production and priced completely out of my budget. The concept of save up doesn't really apply when we're talkin between $100 homage and a $10,000 Rolex lol. Now because of being able to obtain these homages I have drove into the history of the watch and the original design so for me it's been a very rewarding and fun.

    • @BraveBeaters
      @BraveBeaters  2 роки тому +3

      Yes, I am fully with you on this one, the gap between a homage and the real deal can be 100 times the price. but maybe an intermediary brand on a 500 - 700 -1000$ price range with heritage and original designs might work :)

    The Chinese, like the Japanese, take what the rest of the world is and can be doing, and do it Better. This watch is a fine example of a product that looks and does better than "the original", at a fraction of the price. That's one reason why many savvy and wise collectors don't bother with "luxury brands" as much anymore.

    New to the channel and quite impressed, on spot review which btw reflects my personal views. Regardless, there is a number of watch enthousiasts that can't afford the real thing, and perhaps heritage might not be a priority. Age has a lot to do with it, young folks especially the ones that were not fortunate enough to inherit a piece. On the other hand, Chinese homages are cluttering the watch market....

    I can relate, and not to relate, to your thoughts. Always when I buy affordable homage I am amazed by the amount of watch you get for the price. But the lack of history of the brand and unique design does not make the homages as "keepers" in my collection. I just prefer original design. However, sole purpose of big luxury brands is to make profit so in that part these are not any worse than Rolex, LVMH and others. They just play in the minor league.

    • @BraveBeaters
      @BraveBeaters  3 роки тому +2

      Thank you for your thoughts! That is an interesting topic to review, how much costs a product, finish, materials, movement and how much do you pay for the brand value. I would make a full episode based on that.

      Becouse i think the same has many others. The luxury brands sell that, "brands" i understand what quality is, but pay it more the 16,000 usd for a Submariner is too much for example. This is my point of view.

      And it's not just the fact that the price difference is ridiculous, it's also the availability. I went in to my local AD for Rolex as I was interested in getting an Air King or a Milgauss, but was told flat out that they won't be able to sell one to me as the wait list is full for the next FIVE(!) years on those, and they won't even add me as I have no purchase history with them.
      The week after I bought a chinese Milgauss homage from Ebay, and I've been wearing it more or less daily since I got it.
      Yes, it's not an original, and it doesn't have the same finish, but I can actually get one, unlike a Rolex...

    As I actually bought a Pagani a while ago as a present for someone not quite into watches, I have to say I'm not a fan of (cheap) Asian manufacture in general. But I do enjoy the San Martin experience, starting with the quality of their build and finishing (I owe 2 pieces) which is definitely not suggested by the very low prices, excellent communication with them through the main support channel, their ability to homage pieces I cannot afford and the custom projects they run (for example, the ones made in collaboration with the BSH).
    I wouldn't buy this particular Pagani for $20, but I do appreciate them for trying to do more than just replicas.
    Thank you for the review, Andrei. Keep up the good work 🤟🏼

    Supply comes after demand. And not the other way around. Many see homages flooding the market and will interrupt or effects the watch world. But if no one is demanding, why supply keep pouring? The next time you say junk homages, you should say junk homages buyers instead. I think that's a better term. No one will produce cocaine if nobody is purchasing them. Simple and straightforward.
    As long as the pieces of this watches go higher, the demand for homages watches will go stronger. The rich will get richer, and the poor, well they get homages. If you could afford a precious watch, good for you, you deserve it. But if you need one to feel good, well you need a higher life purpose.
    One last thing, name me one watch brand not made for profit. I really eager to know.

    • @BraveBeaters
      @BraveBeaters  2 роки тому

      Hi, thanks for your assessment, I would say valuable.
      In essence I am 100% with your point, supply comes after demand, OR the market behaviour adapts to supply. and here we have to owe to those who promote such things as ''amazing value for the price paid''
      (i guess you heard how they got banned, one after another for promoting counterfeit products)
      But I still consider the most of the watches from AliExpress as JUNK, because, again there is no horology intent there, just a way to make profit. A brand or a micro brand when starts such a business, definitely want to make profit, BUT to also make a difference, to innovate, to bring something new to our lifestyle. is there any watch currently on aliexpress that added something revolutionary ?
      And yes, I will be always a fan of a swiss piece, because besides a solid watch, brings a story behind. where a copy of rolex or omega will always be a copy. and the impression that you will never reach such a brand will deepen even more.
      Everything is reachable! I guess it just depends how you choose tho experience your life, with small qualitative bits or big quantities of illusions. Thanks again for your thoughts, Ken!

    I have subscribed to your channel to address a few things which you stated at the end of the video.
    First of all, I like your channel because you are a no-nonsense, sophisticated, and serious watch reviewer. But there are a couple of things I didn't like in the video.
    1. Profit is the most motivating factor for a product or industry, if a sub $200 watch is making profit then what do you think Rolex, AP, PP, and Ugly Richard Miller are doing? Of course, they are churning the dollars by selling the legacy or History. A history that could have been identical even if they were absent. If you can't see the capitalist approach to earning a profit then, please don't educate others about the socialist form of making a profit.
    2. Micro brand, a term I come across very often. What is a micro brand?
    " A Chinese or Japanese movement assembled in Europe, America, or Singapore with a 'romantic' story behind it, maybe less than 5 years old and owned by some white swan is called a micro brand."
    No, they are not microbrands but pseudo-brands. And I think a 20 years old Chinese manufacturer is a much better option than a pseudo brand.
    3. Quality and luxury are subjective terms, someone who can afford AP or JLC would always look at the Rolex guy with his judgemental eye. And what is being sold around us? Quality !! No way, just a marketing ingenuity that everyone is ready to shell out their bucks for.
    4. Japanese rooted out half of the swiss watch industry singlehandedly and believe me their second crisis will be Chinese companies not because of their low prices but gradual improvement in quality( I don't have any Chinese watches and I am not promoting them but just making a reference that china is going to be next Japan in the watch industry in next couple of decades)
    5. Last but not least, people buy watches to wear themselves, if a father can afford and pass them on to his offspring a $20 Casio, is still priceless. At least much better than a Rolex which is passed on with an unpaid credit card bill.

    I see Chinese knockoffs, replicas or homages as necessary evils. The production of a very good quality affordable watch like $300 San Martins proves beyond doubt that $6,500-$12,000 originals are vastly & unnecessarily overpriced. Let’s be honest, is anyone going to daily wear their fathers Rolex, Patek Philippe or even Tudor for that matter. I think not.
