Phoebe Snow, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, John Hall, Rosemarie Butler. James Taylor, Michael McDonald, Graham Nash, Nicolette Larson, Cornelius Bumpus, a dozen more luminaries, ALL LIT UP! Unbelievable.
I adored it, a mega awesome Album - my favorite Song was definitely - “ Cathedral ” - WOW so many Memories from my Youth, a lot was new Alcohol, Drugs, Women - very nice, many Thanks !!!
I was there too. Not much has changed since then, (other than the Trade Center was destroyed.) Two years since you posted this -- was anything accomplished by taking it to the streets again? (My city was highjacked by rioters and loiters three times since then. You?)
Jesus Christ, I'd prepared myself for James (what a killer verse, would have loved to hear him spar more with Michael trading lines in the chorus), but I went in blind so lo and behold Jackson Browne, Carly Simon, Bonnie Raitt and Graham Nash appearing randomly before my eyes!
The next day, we gathered at Battery Park for the protest. I remember looking up at these two relatively-new HUGE buildings nearby. (The Trade Center.) The protest was a typical liberal protest. Every issue had to be talked about, instead of the one thing we all had in common. And that's when I grew up so many ways. But it was one helluva concert.
mosesmosestv I think James misses cue… But that’s what musicianship is about. It’s about different forces coming together to make a single product or vibe. The fact that James missed his cue for a second and John picked it up makes it even more cooler because they were in sync as artists. Rare these days.

Maybe stop using OUR Lord and Saviours name as a filthy swear word. Try using that murderous scumbag Mohammeds name instead
I saw Pat Simmons enjoying himself, also.

@@lucan18 Amazing! thank you!!!!!
Who is the dark-haired singer @ 1:04 (centre left), 1:58 (left of screen), 2:07 (left of screen)...? Chaka Khan?
mmm, I don't think so...the hair is too short and flat for Chaka in 1979? but I cannot figure out who it might be? so maybe it is
icfecex Considering she looks absolutely and utterly nothing like Chaka Khan, I'd say there's a very good chance it's not Chaka Khan...
It’s Phoebe Snow
blacks and whites showing what is possible together
when class consciousness is at the foreground. exactly what this song is about.
CARLY SIMON...SOOOOO HOT!
CokeFest 1979! Holy shit they’re wired af... lol
James Taylor so smooth when John Hall missed his cue at 1:15
didn't JT miss his cue?
You got it backwards! JT missed his cue!! John Hall saved him!

The sax player is Clarence Clemons, isn't ? It sure isn't David Sanborn!
Lol. No, not Sanborn. Isn't that a great name- Clarence Bumpus- for a great player
Of course
It’s Cornelius Bumpus…
Never knew John Hall dated James Taylor, or was it just a fling
Carly Simon
She was something!
cocaine powered greatness
And they all walked away 25 grand richer.
