and YES... before you ask... I did voice the woman LMAOOO
did you voice the woman
did you voice the woman
did you voice the woman
lmao
But did you voice the man?
Man I hate it when my friends turn into the dark lord with no foreshadowing
We've all been there
#relatable amirite
The newest isekai, 'My Friend Became the Dark Lord Without Warning'
@@ChargeQM definitely should be a anime
Sure but if you dont have friends that turn into the dark lord, YOU turn into the dark lord
To be honest that twist at the end was hilarious
Because, are you also secretly the dark lord with no foreshadowing?
@@mintyplayz__9721I am, don't know for that guy.
Pig... Weapon???
Thank you for being honest 🙏
The joke was honestly made even better by the fact that I read this comment first, giving it foreshadowing
Has anyone else experienced this in reverse?
Where you find a game you found boring/mediocre as a kid, and years later you're like "How did I miss out on this?!"
Wasn't smart enough to get very far in the original dark souls
I *sorta* had an experience like that with super mario galaxy, but me and my brother had a lot of trouble finding stars, but when the 3D all-stars version came out i played it and i loved it, it was not part of my childhood but it was part of my teenagehood.
I used to hate spinach and broccoli, but now I quite like them. Preferences change, it’s all part of growing up. 🤷♀️
Ocarina of Time. Didn't care for it, played the 3ds remake, loved it
Somewhat. When I was little I was scared to go beyond the first level, but now that I'm older it was an incredible game!
It’s the worst. I remember my fiancé turning into a shadow lord right before our wedding. No foreshadowing of course, so I had to dump her.
I know right! Happened to me and my vet. He’s giving my dog a checkup and boom! Dark lord, no foreshadowing
Super unreasonable, she's showing a vulnerable side to you because she trusts you and you dump her
@@khaledm.1476 sorry bud I am allergic to black magic :/
@@TheSiemek That's sounds kinda racist, but regardless I am sure you can whip out "black_magic_allergies" medicine.
It just sounds like you were looking for an out and found a convenient excuse. What about trying to find a compromise where she exercises and torments mortal souls atleast 30m away from you. And limit it to twice per day or even have days off.
Communication is key to a good relationship and you just sound immature
I mean, at least it wasn't after the wedding.
I love the unflattering angle reflecting on the gameboy
The twist in this genuinely made me laugh harder than I have in a while. This just goes to show that sometimes you just don't need any foreshadowing.
He did foreshadow it. By the princess being the dark lord earlier in the video.
@@Warriormon87 Whooosh
@@landshark3981 no
@@Warriormon87 That was moreso setting up the joke so the dark lord reveal would be funny. If it was foreshadowed, viewers could anticipate the friend being the dark lord
Still funny tho lol
@@Warriormon87 it was more a repetition joke than foreshadowing tbh
Sometimes you gotta admit that you grew up and some games just aren't the same for you anymore :(
real
Kind of like Minecraft. 😢
Or that the games you grew up playing can’t be appreciated without projecting fetishes on them.
@@Sypitz I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE
...
...Nidoqueen top waifu don't @ me
@@FaceD0wnDagon first, you’re wrong because they’re a ground type and will always be closer to it, so they’d always be a bottom. Second, theyre poison, so have fun getting covered in neurotoxin and writhing as some massive reptile/rat... thing(?) Crushes you
The woman becoming the dark lord was the foreshadowing for the friend actually. Anyone paying attention should have seen it coming.
i can't believe that dude was the dark lord with no foreshadowing!
what an unbelievable twist
I can believe it.
Because I’m also the dark lord with no foreshadowing.
I can't believe it
Because I am not the dark lork with foreshadowing
I can't belive his boyfriend would betray him like that! Not after the last arc of the comedy skits, to think. The entire time he was plotting his revenge!
I can't believe it either.
I'm literally his MINION his RIGHT HAND MAN and I feel oh so BETRAYED that I was not TRUSTED with this KNOWLEDGE!
I remember back then I spent literally weeks of my summer vacation playing flash games from Cartoon Network. It was all I could think about. Now that I played it again as an adult, most games was really one dimensional and even the nostalgia could not help improving it
I have that with Neopets. People tend to forget that „nostalgia“ is a romanticized distortion of memories. =)
Also the fact that most of them are *way* shorter than we gave them credit for
I remember the hours I would spend and playing those games. Didn’t matter to me that they were short, they were cheap, and I didn’t have much beyond Nintendo stuff.
yooo same.....as well as nickelodeon web games
That cul-de-sac (?) derby game from ed, edd, and eddy was still fire.
There was a Halloween one for Billy & Mandy… pretty unforgiving but decent. A Ben 10 one were you could be any of the 10 og aliens and explored a level… I remember there being a false wall with hidden sumo slammer cards or whatever lol
The game was so far ahead of its time it predicted this guy's life
Lmaoo🤣🤣
Some nostalgia stands the test of time, and remains classic ... others ... others fall.
Fossil Fighters for the DS still holds up as an amazing and weird game. The plot is like you're having a fever dream, but you fight with dinosaurs that you excavate.
I really like Fossil Fighters. I remember getting it at Walmart after asking an employee if there were any dinosaur games. Lexo is my favorite vivosaur from the first game
Fossil Fighters, yeesss, I loved the hell out of that as a kid, and I admittedly do play it still from time to time. Still have enough fun with it.
Though my DS has seen MUCH better days. Still works at least.
Fossil Fighters 1 and 2 are both incredible! Absolutely my favorite games on Ds and I still occasionally replay them to this day. :)
Fossil fighters 3 on 3ds was... ok in some ways but mostly a total let down considering the two diamonds that came before it. Instead of expanding and improving like Champions did, Fronteirs took one step forward and like 3 steps back with the gameplay. :(
I replayed Star Fox Adventures recently. I have to say, the character models are still pretty alright. You did good, Rare Ware.
THANK YOU!!!! I've been waiting literal years for someone to agree with me on this
Star fox adventures also had the best voices for all the members of the starfox team. Especially fox and falco
@@madcap3450 I also love Krystal’s va in that game. It’s weirdly fitting, despite it being a Cockney accent.
When game devs actually focused on the gameplay more than everything else
As they should. If the story is a solid 10\10, but the gameplay is super unfun, then that's not a good game in my eyes.
@@estabez Games aren't like books. Books can focus all about the story since the reader has close to no interaction with the people. Games however, must entertain and intertwine both work and play. All work and no play makes you a dull boy. Games give you an option as to how you progress and pace the story. Books have a consistent pace throughout the entire thing. It is like driving on a freeway vs. racing. Driving is most of the time consistent, racing has sharp turns and corners where either you have to speed up or brake to accomplish.
@Forthakine I do dull boy
@Forthakine It's a reference to the movie The Shining. An iconic piece of horror history with the quote "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy."
@Forthakine it's an old saying or something like that ,I learned in English class
"One character can't possibly ruin an entire story right?"
Ava from Borderlands 3...
I love the detail with the Gameboy screen giving off your reflection. Gameboy had horrible screen when playing in well-lit room.
The sp was back lit
Love how the twist at the end was foreshadowed by the game the entity was playing.
I need to know how you come up with such original content and yet have it be so relatable.
i dont care if shes the dark lord i still want a piece of that
Conversely, the feeling of going back to a old childhood favorite and realizing it's just as good as you remember it being is incredible. Shoutouts to the Battle Network Legacy Collection.
This game definitely deserve some praise for the plot. It is basically historically accurate
I felt that so hard with Spongebob Squarepants: Super Sponge on the GBA. I loved that game so much as a kid but playing it now.....ah man does it not age well 😅
This is why my favorite nostalgic game i have is fossil fighters. As a kid i saw it as a goofy nonsense story that started with pokemon and ended with time traveling professors, sending dinosaurs to attack brains of an intergalactic world consuming tadpole, and alien ai versus the trolley problem. As an adult it hasn't changed much other than me being better at the minigames.
To me, Golden Sun will always be my favorite GBA-era JRPG game. It. Had. PUZZLES. And I essentially grew up on puzzle games like Monkey Island, Dr. Brain and other Sierra adventure games.
The turn-base mechanics for all JRPG games are usually hit or miss for me, especially when random encounters screw with my focus, but the environmental puzzles made up for it.
Golden Sun is SO underrated. I played those games instead of Final Fantasy growing up.
Glad to see it getting the love I always felt it needed. The puzzles, the remarkably complex class system, the pretty solid story, and
That
GLORIOUS
Soundtrack
You should try Lufia 2 then. There are less battle mechanics (besides the first limit break type system and a fifth, pet party member) but your dungeoneering tools can also be used to stun symbol encounters on screen. The enemies also only move when you do and are sometimes part of puzzles themselves. Like luring a goblin to stand on a pressure plate.
Some of those puzzles were rough. Like I remember spending 1+ hour trying to figure out how to get an optional chest in a log & water puzzle. So... congrats on bring smart as kids, guys.
Great series. I liked how they subverted your expectation of what was happening to the world you were trying to save as you beat the game in GS I, in GS II they explain to you that it is a classic damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation so pick what’s best for now or the future.
Although the first game over ending doesn’t make sense if you tell the guardian you won’t go on the journey. That is the give away that they didn’t know if the game was going to get a sequel or they change the story later on in development to make for a deeper story. It isn’t a make or break moment as you can’t play the game without saying yes to the guardian and you will never no that ending if you never refuse.
Plot twist: the dude who was showing the game was also the dark lord.
I've experienced the opposite. I love the original RE4 but hated the island. Last year I played the HD remaster and found the island wasn't half as bad as I remembered.
I like that his friend pulled out a magic scythe and is potentially about to fight him to the death.. but he's only mildly annoyed
It's basically me replaying NFSMW (2005 version), only on the gameplay part
The thing is, something may be considered uninteresting for being cliché and something you've seen over and over again, but when you're a kid and it's the first time you've seen it it's actually original from your perspective.
Shockingly one game that actually held up to the memories was Pokemon X and Y for me. Yes I know it was the big 3d swap that no one liked and mega evolutions were op, but overall I just really liked it. Also it has a ton of mons that hyaven't been in a game since (Bring back Sewaddle, Swabloon, and Leavanny!)
It'll be a few years before we get a Kalos remake or Legends game.
X and Y were the first games I followed the development of, so they hold a special place in my heart too, despite the games flaws. The feeling of following all the news as it came out, checking every website for updates, desperately hoping my crappy internet would hold up... it's something I'll never really get to experience again.
I don't think that's old enough to have "held up" yet, come back to it in 10 years and we'll see if it has held up as well as Emerald/Ruby/Sapphire.
That said I did enjoy Y, that and the Ruby/Sapphire remakes are the last ones before the series took a dramatic drop in quality, mega evolutions were stupid because there was no drawback but it was a much better change than whatever the f*ck they did to Meowth in Sun and Moon.
Dude these games came out 10 years ago, not 30 lmao
They haven't even gone through the test of time yet
Me replaying Sonic 06
I remembered weirdly liking it as a kid.
What the fuck was wrong with me?
Felt this playing the darkness, it was a masterpiece as a child, when I replayed it and the gameplay was so clunky I find it hard to play. I actually like the push for remakes as they fix the old clunky gameplay for games
This encapsulates my view of modern games pretty well.
Fortunately, these videos are classic!
To be fair. That's the same feeling for triple A games that rush themselves out for profit
I'm loving how everyone is finally understanding that nostalgia is holding them back
That's not the point We grow up we change this people Doesn't mean that the past is bad What we once considered important We don't now Sometimes we go back to things we did not like Or we thought was mediocre And we find now They speak to us even more
Is everything nostalgia though? Why do people assume it’s always nostalgia and not that there is some merit or credibility to things in the past? Not everything new is good eirher
Its because in getting older you’ve gotten more critical in your tastes along with the evolution of games. To enjoy what you did back then, you’ve gotta return with the same standards
I love how he's reaction towards his friend who had known him well enough to know his favourite game is just annoyance.
Clap... clap... clap.
This one, this one right here, literal art. Bravo!!
This is how I feel about Super Mario 64. I love the game dearly but as soon as you get past the first bowser fight, it really starts to show its age 😅
I would agree with that.
Ironically though, the NES/SNES games are timeless.
Even badly aged games are cool with me
A real homie always foreshadows being the Dark Lord.
I experienced a reverse twist ending. Got a whole team of adventurers, more than actually fit on the active roster, so I picked my team and played the game, leaving a lot of people behind because I just didn’t need so many options for the same role. Welllll, when I died at the end of the game, one of the starting characters takes over and laments my death, a character I sidelined a loooong time ago.
To be fair we still get games like this
Getting really tired of all these dark lords popping up with ZERO foreshadowing. The princess, his friend, my date last night, my chiropractor, hell even my mom revealed this morning she would soon start harvesting the souls of the innocent.
Can't trust nobody these days
Fax
This made my day.
I DIDNT RECOGNIZE U FROM THE VIDEO BEFORE THIS ONE MAN, glad to find your channel again
nostalgia is literally just age bias like tradition is peer pressure from the dead
The first Devil May Cry game I played was DMC2
I replayed it a while ago for nostalgia and... yeah... Younger me is a dumbass
OG Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a prime example of this.
I cant begin to express how much i loved the faint reflection in the GBA screen.
You usually have very relatable videos, but this one thing *never happens* 😂
I've had it with movies, but every nostalgic game I launch after many years holds up just as well. [Posh bumhole mode on] ah nyes, maybe I was blessed with naturally great taste🧐
The proverbial superior specimen. 😗
@@ArDeeMee beyond mere human fo sho
Or maybe your standards didn't change over time
@@karimitickaeloogreattemlor3486 naturally, why would you change perfection🌚
@@Makujah_ or maybe your standards are very low 🌞
In 32 years of playing games I've never felt this 😂😂😂 Guess as a kid I knew when a game stank!
I have definitely had this feeling before
I feel like this everytime I see my DS games I still have. Nostalgia on it's finest. Hehe
That moment when we grew up
The nostalgic game didn’t hold up.
That’s right, the nostalgic game didn’t hold up
As someone who recently purchased a GBA SP, I completely understand, that being, said I still love it. Great video!!
I had that exact same feeling with a game called Bleach: The Third Phantom. I still swear it's good, but after going back and playing it...yeah, some things start to come up that I didn't notice when I was younger.
That's a great game. Your waifu is a demon lord. That means she was an og dommy mommy
Though I do like old games as they don't need minutes or hours to save and travel they just do it. Especially Fe games that keep things simple on map
Happened when I replayed Dark Crystal. Man that game did… not age well even by it’s standards.
There is beauty in the kano of old games 😂
😂 sure things arent as good as we remember them but we remember them! And you know what it was still a fun time! 😊
"characters are very well written"
This man is definitely the type of gentleman who plays games for "the plot"
Same as how I read yiff for the plot
Something people often forget about old games and movies is that they CREATED the cliché. It doesn’t excuse them from having simple stories or none at all but with what they were working with weird twists out of nowhere were a go to
Who never had this moment. I had dowloaded a game that was my first game when I was a kid and I plan to play some day for see if was really good like a relembrer. In my brain is one of my favorite games.
Me as an adult discovering "Lego Racers" was not, in fact, the hardest game ever made.
Still the best story i've ever heard
I felt this when I played my fav game from years ago but I deleted to not ruin my memories
The battery light being red was a nice touch ❤
Been playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced and honestly, it held up great!
One game that wasn't blinded by nostalgia was small soldiers squad commander. Amazing rts for a kids game. Also still got the offical sound track that j listen to all the time.
I recently went back and have been playing FABLE (2005). I was 2 when it released. Still an awesome game.
I realised how much sex and violence was in my videogames when I came to play them many years later, the stuff I saw were things no child should ever see
I loved that cute lil twist
Now we just need a reverse version of this video "When a nostalgic game was actually better than we remembered"
one game that i will still replay from my childhood is golden sun dark dawn. such a good game, sad it doesnt have a sequal
Yea true it can be like that some times
I would love a game if the unprompted plot twist is like that tbh
I remembered the staters game for Gameboy advance having hd graphics but then I played it presently and it's not what I remembered. Graphics aren't bad but i remember the graphics looking the same and the ones we have rn on Lego games
0:06
It kinda looks like the Circle Boy ADVANCE has a face and is relieved to finally be able to see the light of day
Nostalgia is a finny thing as it can only be appreciated in the mindset of your memories bit the moment you start comparing things even you can't help but wonder what you first saw in the game
I remember playing duke nukem time to kill when I was a kid, and when I became an adult I searched for the game and played it only to immediately complain about the controls but I still love the game
I really did love the twist
It was totally foreshadowed.
I WAS SECRETLY THE DARK LORD THIS WHOLE TIME YOU FOOLS
Relatable. Now excuse me, I have a dark lord with no foreshadowing to defeat.
Started playing oblivion the other day. It's so much better than i remember
For me it's that Darth Vader face on a controler plug and play, the shitting thing still works
We all now this moment 🎭.
When you load up Goldeneye after 25 years:
If it was Golden Sun, you couldn't say any of this 😂
This is how I feel about old shovelware games on the GBA from forever ago. My parents would only ever buy me the $5 games, which were either board game compilations, 80's arcade game ports, or shovelware, and guess who had to enjoy his fair share of shovelware growing up 🙋♂️
Hahahaha ok that ending got me.
Also this is me playing MK4
A GBA game with full voice acting is pretty ahead of its time though
0:10 you're looking slimmer... beach body? 😆
awesome animation!👍
Remember kids proper foreshadowing is important for an enjoyable session
remember watching you for a long time🥲
I’ll admit the games I loved in the past still hold up for me. Early Yugioh games like Sacred Cards and Falsebound Kingdom, Legacy of Goku and KH1. I feel future instalments never meet that level of joy I got
When I play old games sometimes I strap the nostalgia goggles on and play in denial
