@@Lonewolfwildcamping Aesome channel. I have been dying to get out to camp in my hot tent. The past few years I have been recovering from many major surgeries but this year I am doing it.

I went with Winnerwell nomad w/ view medium size and onetigris Rock fotress tent . I primarily watch you, Kent Survival, and mdm outdoors for past 5 years. My wife and I will be trying our setup next week, thank you for the info!
This is an excellent video for people getting started in hot tenting, I wish I could have watched this before I bought my first stove (if I had actually fit that stove into a tent, it would have been spontaneous human combustion lol). I still have a lot to learn, and this video was very helpful. Thanks for the video, stay safe out there and God bless!
Dude, you should get far more views. You have very informative content. I've been planning to get myself a hot tent and titanium stove for this winter and if it wasn't for your videos I'd probably be still looking for a good combo. Night will get cold here in arctic circle...
One main item to also consider for heating your shelter, is the amount stove pipe that is inside the shelter. This will somewhat dictate stove size and stove placement. The more stove pipe you can get inside your shelter, the more heat it will generate. The other major item to think about as well, is cooking. When using your hot tent most people will cook on the wood stove. So having a flat top on your stove is very important for cooking. It is easier to put your pots, pans, kettles on the surface with out sliding off. It is much harder to do that with the cylinder type roll up stoves. Titanium is a great material to make a wood stove out of. That is not to say that steel stoves aren't perfectly adequate either. They just take some maintenance for controlling the rust and they have the weight penalty. However if your are hauling your gear in on on a sled or toboggan the weight penalty isn't that much of an issue. One then to consider with back packing stove while winter camping is ease of assembly. In cold weather assembling a stove with lots of small parts that your have to fiddle with isn't much fun. So look for one that can be easily assemble while wearing gloves or mitts.
Excellent points. We are definitely on the same page. I mentioned much of this in previous videos as well so its nice to see others putting much thought into it as well.
The advantage of the large stove is that you can fill it with more wood, damper down the intake and flue and it will burn much longer. 2ndly, there is less processing of the wood into smaller pieces which conserves your own energy. And obviously a larger stove will heat a larger space, ideal for small cabins or large canvas tents. A baffle in a stove is also quite valuable - it keeps the heat in the firebox longer, the top of the stove provides a more even heat and works well for cooking. The additional heat path helps to eliminate hot ash going up the flue which lessens or eliminates the need for a spark arrestor.
You really did it there, look at em, I love the winnerwell fast fold but for sure I would have bought a windowed version. I still get the glow thru the front slide vent but it isn’t quite a stare at window. Heat wise and simplicity I rate the FF. thanks for this.
I built my own tent stove, but it’s designed to burn hard coal and bit coal instead of wood. I think it’s a very handsome design but because of the nature of coal, it’s rather heavy, more complicated, and needs more corrosion resistant ($) materials. Here’s the thing though, a single full load of coal can easily burn for 8+ hours with proper adjustments. It’s a much more reliable heat than wood. I want to make a video about it but I’m nervous about it’s reception haha. It’s still a prototype but that 8 hour burn I got on one fill was insanely impressive. I am planning on building a stainless steel version, I have the stock for it, one part (air diffuser/superheater/thing) will be inconel 718 which is a fancy and expensive nickel alloy, but the consistent, high quality heat output of the first one makes me think it’s worth it.

ATB👍🏕🔥
Hey Jeff, absolutely the t1 and timber are on the large scale of stoves. These stoves actually throw much more heat than most people woukd ever think they could. The stoves will make even a 6 - 10 person tent very hot in minus 20⁰c temperatures
Great video! Just subscribed to you. One thing I noticed is that none of those stoves seem to have a baffle. Do you have any experience with stoves with baffles? I camp in extremely cold temperatures and have found that baffles or some sort of secondary burn really help with the efficiency.
Thank you, these stove don't need a baffle, they burn absolutely clear out the pipe after the damper and draft are set and they put out a ton of heat as is.
surely theres nothing stopping you use the ammo can version with an alluminium sheet flue?. Im looking to make one myself copying the titanium designs using steel
@@Lonewolfwildcamping do you know anything about the luxe hot tents. I found them while researching last night? Last question thanks for helping. Your info is excellent 👌
I have been studying your videos and admire your knowledge! You have been very helpful, but I still have a question: can you use the titanium stoves inside a home fireplace, vented up the chimney? I would like to use one as an emergency heater if the power should go out because it could potentially be much more efficient than a wood burning fireplace.
Very educational, thanks for the detail. I like my Luxe 3W stove but it's a bit too small for my tent. I have the Pomoly T1 coming so I'm excited to try it. The folding design will make things a lot easier too. The pipe is going to be 2.4" instead of my existing 3" pipe/hole. Would you mess with reducing that or just go with it?
do you have any stoves that I can have?? :) would really like one of your many…looking to backpack in the winter for the first time and would be grateful!
Great video except for the fact that you keep referring to the steel stoves as stainless steel which they are not.Real stainless steel will not rust but is much heavier then titanium.
Thanks for the comparison. What's missing is identifying the model name of each. You identified the 'Nortent', and the videos you list at the end identify Pomoly. However, the models of (all 4 ?) Pomoly stoves are not mentioned. That would help in relating what you said here to the corresponding videos. Starting with the one adjacent to 'Nortent', what are the model names?

Would you say that the Pomoly T1 would be the right size to keep the Pomoly Hex 2-3 person tent warm enough for the dead of winter especially if you wanted to run it all night? look forward to the safety video so I don't kill myself. ATB👍🏕🔥
Hey Jeff, absolutely the t1 and timber are on the large scale of stoves. These stoves actually throw much more heat than most people woukd ever think they could. The stoves will make even a 6 - 10 person tent very hot in minus 20⁰c temperatures
@@Lonewolfwildcamping Thanks for the info Jeremy, much appreciated 👍
Anytime 👍🐺
Great video! Just subscribed to you. One thing I noticed is that none of those stoves seem to have a baffle. Do you have any experience with stoves with baffles? I camp in extremely cold temperatures and have found that baffles or some sort of secondary burn really help with the efficiency.
Thank you, these stove don't need a baffle, they burn absolutely clear out the pipe after the damper and draft are set and they put out a ton of heat as is.
surely theres nothing stopping you use the ammo can version with an alluminium sheet flue?. Im looking to make one myself copying the titanium designs using steel
Aluminum will melt.... do not use aluminum.
@@Lonewolfwildcamping on the flue? I’m sure I seen some titanium one before that had an aluminium flue 🤔
Aluminum melts at a very low temperature. The fire will melt it. Titanium melts at a very high temperature. I suggest doing some research
@@Lonewolfwildcamping I’m aware of aluminium having a low melting temperature but I wouldn’t have expected that a flue would get hot enough
Yes, very hot. The fire and heat it traveling up the flue. Very very hot
Is there a ul option?
No , sorry
@@Lonewolfwildcamping whats your opinion on the seek outside gear?
I dont use it
@@Lonewolfwildcamping do you know anything about the luxe hot tents. I found them while researching last night? Last question thanks for helping. Your info is excellent 👌
I saw one that looks like the steel one(bottom left) on eBay says but it says it titanium from China no brand name. Would any of you trust it?
I would definitely not trust it. That particular stove is solid steel
Awesome
😁🤙
One more question does the pipe for timber stove work with stove jack for smokey hut. Is a 6ft length of pipe ok for that tent?
Yes, it works perfectly

Thank you, you will definitely be happy with the pomoly t1, very fast setup and extremely durable
I gonna buy the Winnerwell view small for in the Onetigris Smokey hottent 😁
Have fun 👍
Take a close look at the Polmoly T1 Mini stove before making your final decision.
I agree, very strongly
do you have any stoves that I can have?? :) would really like one of your many…looking to backpack in the winter for the first time and would be grateful!
Thank you
You're welcome
Great video except for the fact that you keep referring to the steel stoves as stainless steel which they are not.Real stainless steel will not rust but is much heavier then titanium.
Old habits
Thanks for the comparison. What's missing is identifying the model name of each. You identified the 'Nortent', and the videos you list at the end identify Pomoly. However, the models of (all 4 ?) Pomoly stoves are not mentioned. That would help in relating what you said here to the corresponding videos. Starting with the one adjacent to 'Nortent', what are the model names?
The others are pomoly
