Poor dude. I can’t imagine what he went through losing his best friend/little brother like that.
Seriously... Losing anyone you care about in any capacity is terrible, but watching your younger brother and best bud get gunned down right in front of you is truly traumatic.. And during a live show no less!..
That i do feel for. I didn't like vinnies attitude after. He took his frustrations out not only on the shooter and phil. But on pantera fans as a whole. Remember it was a crazy pantera fan that delusionally blamed dime for the breakup that killed him.
@@1848revolt I don’t recall him taking it out on us. Maybe I missed something or misinterpreted something. I loved pantera. I wasn’t at their last show but one of them. The extreme steel tour with static x, slayer and one or two other bands in Dallas. I was bummed as fuck hearing about the split and was hopeful like everyone else that they’d get their heads out of their asses but after Dime was murdered I had zero interest in even listening to pantera for quite a few years and definitely no interest in seeing some cobbled together somewhat pantera. Fuck that shit. So I was fully onboard with vinnie here. That being said now that the two members of pantera that actually were all in are gone it doesn’t even matter to me. Have a reunion or remake. Like Phil said “it’s all fake”.
@@johnwhitaker545 that is him blaming the fans. Blaming that crazy fan. Instead of accepting it was a deeply disturbed crazy person.
Thats why he was so negative about even hearing the word pantera out of anyone's mouth for years.
You can hear it in his voice. He never got over his brother and rightfully so.
Then don’t hold others from mourning the way they want.
Pretty sure Vinny s broken heart attributed to his early demise.i can't blame him.
@@christopherwheat1288 yeah that's what happens with people who are very close to another.
@@Strings-jg2to don't I know it..much love bro.
How could he?
literally said everything that’s going on today.
It wasn't a reunion, it was a tribute. Big difference.
Yup
It was probably already being talked o about behind the scenes
First it was The Illegals covering Pantera
I know it
Even Zakk has stated that this is a tribute, not a reunion.
Philip hasn’t.
Does the naming of it really matters. People live in their own head especially about music. There is a whole branch of bands that almost none of the original members are still there. Sigh.
Bs
There writing under the name pantera now. It's stupid.
Fuck the modern day pantera money grab
The pain that this man went through is unimaginable.
His father went through worse pain. He lost both.
Boo-hoo. Life is too short to hold petty grudges, and now look who is still standing and who is in the dirt.
@@yogsenforfoth5948 how is mourning a dead family member holding a grudge💀
Right no one's ever had a sibling die lol. Dumb fuck
@@yogsenforfoth5948 His brother was murdered literally a few feet in front of him. That isn't some "petty grudge" that he can just realize some day isn't worth holding on to. Fingers crossed you experience that kind of trauma, you'll change your tune real quick.
The Media is saying this new Pantera is a reunion. But if people paid attention Zakk, Phil, Rex and Charlie have all said this is a TRIBUTE. A big difference.
Yeah exactly. So many people just live to be butt hurt without doing a little investigating into something to get the whole story.
Shit I'd go see that show. Be fucking sweet to hear Charlie & Zakk play those songs live with Phil singing. Rex too I guess not like you can hear the bass in fucking metal anyway. Oh shit I said it
Then let it be called a tribute to the Abbot Brothers but they won't because the PANTERA name is worth way more money and people are stupid and selfish enough to believe it is.
Exactly!!!!!!! It is in remembrance of Vinny and dime
I wouldnt waste my time going to that concert when it comes around. I saw the real Pantera a lot of times. Seeing this stupid "tribute" thing would be an insult to myself.
You guys can go...but I'm not.
I guess Rex and Phil are broke? They're basically not important anymore. But I suppose doing this tribute can get them a quick money grab? That's all this is about as far as I can tell. I doubt they're heart-broke about Dime & Vinny.
They're not advertising it as a tribute though. They're just being billed straight up as Pantera. It's not really any different than Phil's Vulgar Display of Pantera but with Rex. Still really cool, but they're lying if they're no trying to cash in on it as a reunion.
He’s absolutely right. But man is that dark. I feel so bad that all those guys went through that.
Seeing your own flesh and blood getting popped in the head several times by a nutjob, would seriously eff up anyone. Vinnie was strong, and took things in stride however, his health always took the back door. Feel bad for their old man Jerry, who outlived both his sons. Wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.
He also saw people in the crowd get murdered too.
R.i.p Vinnie !!! You and Dime will and always will be remembered and acknowledged as two of two of the most endeared and talented metal musicians that walked this planet
Rest In Power Vinny and Dime. There is no Pantera without you.
Gee I don’t know. I just saw them in ABQ.
If Dimebag's girlfriend, Rita Haney, can go on stage and sing "Walk" next to Phil Anselmo like she did back in August in Houston, that's good enough for me. If she can forgive Phil, we all can. I'm glad I got to see Pantera at Louder Than Life and you can tell Phil really appreciates and loves his fans and what he does. I'm sure he has a lot of regrets that haunt him and if he could take back what he said about Dimebag being severely beaten and the poor choices that he made leading up to the breakup of Pantera, he would. I really think Phil has grown up and changed for the better. He certainly showed it at Louder Than Life. Everybody deserves a second chance.
@@911_In_Real_Time dude everyone has regrets in life. All the fans that can’t deal with the current configuration of Pantera are just big babies

The fact he mentioned Zakk is crazy.
That’s because they was kicked around since dime was lost. People wanted a pantera to play again I’m honor of dime
That's because Zakk volunteered to do it years ago. He wanted to do it as a way to honor dime as well as buty the hatchet between Vinnie and Phil.
@@joeywilliams2675 learn how to English.
Because back then he was confronted with people from management, etc to bring Zack Wylde into the fold, to keep Pantera going, but he didn't wanna do that, I can't blame him. They waited for him to die so they could disrespect his wishes, and him and his brother's legacy. I'm not saying Zack Wylde or the rest of the guys disrespected him, it was all the management, and fans demanding it. Like he said people don't care what you want, they only care about what they want. Very selfish.

Pantera was something special to see live. Grateful to have been able to see them.
I saw them before they got big. It was in a small club in Alton Illinois, maybe 300 people tops. They had a local metal band from St Louis open for them called Zkahzen(sp?). It was an amazing show!
I saw them almost every time they played in the Detroit area. Amazing band. Now it's just a money grab for Phil...... fuck you Phil
Saw them at Ozzfest in West Palm Beach. It was a great but abbreviated show.
I was at the 1996 show in Dallas when Phil OD'ed. Pantera/White Zombie... They put on a helluva of a show.
I wasn't born yet to see Pantera back in the day but I was able to see Vinnie Paul with Hell Yeah a few years back

Crazy this popped up been listening to a ton of Pantera all week 🤘 R.I.P Dimebag

It's no wonder Vinnie shuffled off early when he was constantly getting asked questions like this, and having to think about that fateful night over and over again. I can't imagine how hard that must have been to lose his brother so violently right in front of his eyes in the middle of a show. I don't even know how he managed to go back to playing live at all, I would have been so irreparably traumatized I'd likely never go out in public again.
Well said.
Apparently was the reason he moved to Vegas. Couldn’t get away from people reminding him about that night. He knew they meant well, but it was like Groundhog Day for him.
I still hate that fucking scum sucking piece of shit that shot Dime more than anyone. Robbed of a truly special person and talent. Hope he's rotting in hell if it exists.

Couldn't agree more with Vin and like the "Van Halen" reference as it's the same with Pantera.. A band started by "two brothers" and this is why reforming Pantera as a "reunion" is Wrong and Not the same as the average band going on without a member or reforming without a member!.. It's Not Pantera without the "Abbott Brothers!"...
I agree. Glam bands who werent even a big deal do it but its NOT the same. Many of those Glam bands are cheezin out but that era replaced people all the time. Its much different than VH or Pantera. I dont know how these young kids became so “Classic Band Thirsty”.

Witnessing living life everyday with the trauma of his brother’s death is painful and emotional…..Love Yea Vinnie
All these years later hes tough but i seen you wipe that eye. Much respect.
He’s right! Even Zakk playing with the band will never be the same as Dimebag!
Fans who aren’t musicians, or have never put together a band, simply don’t get it. Bands are living organisms made up of the unique strengths and weaknesses of their individual members. Take one person out of the equation, and it’s a different entity all together. That’s what makes bands that have one-of-a-kind chemistry magical. You can’t get it anywhere else. 🤷🏼♂️
Shut up
💯. Would say its the same with Guns N 🌹. Slash & steven adler
Especially with the era of music and pop culture that we are in... most major artists are manufactured via some kind of 'idol' process or put together boy bands... its not the same as putting a band together, finding that chemistry and then spending a year or more grinding our original songs and perfecting them... all with nothing but the hope it might pay off one day... ive played with the same few cats most my life... i was 15 when i started playing with them and im 38 now... we just lost our drummer about 10 days ago actually and yeah it seripusly effected my whole family... my mom was torn up when i told her. So yeah most regular audience members cant comprehend that connection.
100%
Vinnie's logic was dumb. They replaced Bon Scott in acdc and kept going. A band is more than just one member. Even if Dimebag were alive he would still be saying a reunion would not be possible. If anyone could have replaced Dimebag it would have been Zakk Wylde.
I’m glad I got to see them live as many times as I did.
