I saw this guy at Ozfest in like 2002 maybe. Never heard of him. He is playing an absolutely screaming solo and throws the guitar down. The strings are just ringing out with deafening feedback. He pulls out a six pack of budweiser and slams a beer. He tosses one or two out into the crowd. He slams another. He tosses another one or two out. Guitar is still laying there just screaming. He picks it up and keeps soloing. The most goddamn rock and roll thing i have ever witnessed.

Your ear is your best teacher. Play, play, play, play, and play until it sounds good to your ear. I'll never forget when I got my first electric guitar back in 83 and I was trying to make any semblance of good sound coming out of it and getting nowhere. In frustration, I hit the strings hard and accidently hit an A power chord. It sounded powerful and amazing. Hitting that chord was the start of it all and my ear taught me so many chords that I didn't know the name of until many years later. 38 years later, I am still learning something almost daily. Obviously I have an affinity to the blues and blues-based rock and roll. Some of my musical idols growing up were Buddy Holly, Robert Johnson, Angus Young, Elmore James, Chuck Berry and a lot of the hippie blues rock from the '60s that I would jam with my dad's friends when I really practiced a lot started to get good at the guitar around age 11. People were all weirded out when I would be playing really loud and heavy distorted music in drop D then bust into a blues solo in the the middle of the song, but to my ear it sounded good and once people got used to it they ended up really enjoying our recordings.

I enjoyed the interview, and the joke at the end was the cherry on top of the cake. Love you Zakk

Watching Zakk from 21 years old until today has been nothing short of a blessing. The guy wasn't a Rhoads clone, he was like the love child of EVH and RR.

I have always loved and respected Zakk for his playing, humor, and most of all class- he ALWAYS respects those who came before him. He has inspired a whole generation himself (like Richie Faulkner).

My life has been a complete and total misery ever since Bigfoot stole my precious girlfriend in the middle of the night.😒 He even took all her clothes and the T.V.

Great GREAT interview. Loved the part about how Zakk took out so many guitar tools from the toolbox just to get a unique sound that was his signature and not someone else's.
