I can see this season getting boring quick once I have grinded out each weeks worth of pinnacle drops. And once I am at power level 20 on the artifact and plus 10 on pinnacle I can forsee a dead zone. Great video as always. Enjoy
@@vlazurah789 I thought it was cool in SoA cuz Gambit in the lord was made pretty much to get ready for the darkness, and when the darkness finally came, that same mechanic was used.
Boy, when Datto does his Yosemite Sam-style cussing, I felt that! That and "THERE'S NO HOLDERS OF SHARES!" Classic, and so on point. Concerning Armor Synthesis...I don't know, maybe I'm one of only 10 people who just really don't care about it. I'm all about the shaders anyway, so I do like the new shader interface where I don't have to keep going into Collections just to get what I want. Other than that I just use the ornaments. But the fact that other games that I stopped playing a long time ago (Dauntless, AC Odyssey, etc.) have a way better and easier transmog experience than this one game that I play the most...that's just wild to me. Now if Ada were to make ornaments for weapons like we had in Season 10, that I would get into.
I'm loving that you can make multiple keys to hold onto, so you can just run override over and over without needing to fiddle around in menus as well as make room for more ether when you're full. I also like that you can get ether from just killing guys anywhere. I'm barely touching the core playlists and almost always full on ether. Hell, you can get ether while doing override, so its almost self-sustaining.
@@davidho1427 Absolutely. Sometimes I still spend half an hour on the Lament quest slaughtering waves and waves of a hefty amount of Vex. We can handle enemy density.
@@ALPHA_153 are you talking about the one where the core depositing in the descent is now more complex? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think they should change the mechanics after the fact, but I also don’t think it makes it too much harder.
Its just amazing to me how for so many years we've been trying to get them to make the story be just as good as the lore tablets are, and when they finally reach that level, they just fail completely at something that shouldnt have been a problem in the first place like, who is making this decisions?. Bungie has one of the best gaming developer + story teams in the business right now. Its just the leadership that fucks up everything so bad its infuriating.
"The culprit was having too many friends on your friends list..." Well then, if more errors come in the future with the same issue then I guess im unstoppable.
I love that you can grind the upgrades right away. I'm doing it to make running override easier/faster for when I can put my attention on focusing engrams
When I heard about the steps for armor synthesis, all I heard was this. "They take the dinglebop and they push it through the grumbo, where the fleeb is rubbed against it. It’s important that the fleeb is rubbed, because the fleeb has all of the fleeb juice. Then a schlami shows up, and he rubs it and spits on it. They cut the fleeb. There’s several hizzards in the way. The blamfs rub against the chumbles. And the ploobis and grumbo are shaved away. That leaves you with a regular old plumbus".
Personally I'm loving the 'Hackerman' aesthetic; transmog and Vault shaders are annoying and I wish they wouldn't try to overmonetize something we're already paying for, but that struggle is nothing new and the season itself is really solid so far.
You hit it right on the head man. I struggled to play last season despite enjoying the story and battlegrounds because of the endless grind in strikes we have had since D2 came out. The core elements that you need to farm to be able to fully partake in the new things needs to be enjoyable or at least not dull to warrant playing in the first place
@@lDoubleDownl Sounds more like annoyed. Kinda hard to get really pissed at Destiny when Bungie is often known for fking up. Most of us are pretty used to it by now. It’s like people who play Ubisoft games. They stopped expecting anything good years ago.
Same. For the longest time, I've kind of forced myself to not care about fashion as much and just go for the stats because I didn't want to spend extra money on ornaments, so I was hyped about this. But that hype was ultimately ruined.
Implementation is messy for sure. Haven’t had transmog for years, now I can use a few of my favorite designs without changing my armor and a cool fashion UI. Nothing lost, just not impressive gains.
But that’s not the season. Everyone gets transmog. Try to compartmentalize and look at the two separately. There’s no reason you can’t be mad about the absurd transmog but still happy about the strides in storytelling and loot.
@@FKDotFitzgerald Gameplay is terrible tho in override, it's tuned for 2-3 players but they put you with 6 and everyone is constantly getting heavy ammo.
Weekly prestige raid rotator... takes any raid at random(including vaulted raids) and makes it the “weekly challenge” on top of getting the loot again, if you complete the weekly prestige raid challenge, you should receive a cool cosmetic item that shows you were there you did that, or maybe get a piece of prestige armor each run through it that gives above average stat rolls.
Ngl, I really miss the days when being 320 or 335 in TTK meant you were a GRINDER and was atleast difficult to obtain since you could only do the hard mode for it. Imo artifact light has always been trash and its so much worse to farm bounties as the fastest way to level up
Came back last season after 2 year hiatus and I haven't looked back. This season has been fun as well. Granted I quit due to burnout, not because I didn't enjoy the game.
Yeah this season and the last have been absolutely fantastic at LEAST from a new loot to chase perspective. There's gotta be close to 60 new legendaries from the last 2 seasons to grind and a healthy amount of them are very good if not extremely viable in pve or pvp
Anyone else notice how (for)eververse is in *overdrive* right now? Borderline predatory transmog, all ornaments up for silver (not *bad*, but definitely a gold mine for $$$), and the paid vog shaders (makes me think of the gift shops at the end of a ride in the expensive theme parks)
"Right now?" They've been attempting to shove loot boxes into this game for years. Festival of the COST. Locking Heroic Strikes behind paywall. Eververse isn't taking over...it HAS taken over.

Great video The best part about this is your text towards the end of "getting more money for the studio means you're able to make more things for the game".....but then even that argument isn't really explaining stuff anymore. They're obviously making a lot of money through Eververse but we still have Gambit unchanged after how many years PVP and PVE still being balanced as one, instead of two different tables Still a great lack of communication and transparency with the playerbase about changes or incredibly slow reaction times to things that need to patched/fixed A year 1 raid coming back as the "new pinnacle content" (doubt that took much work) One of the worst transmog systems ever implemented Overload is essentially a vex themed, slightly tweaked 6man Gambit There have been so many good ideas given to them by you and other communities members over the years that would help this game thrive so much more and they just continue to implement some of the most annoying stuff into the game. I wonder if they even play their own game anymore.
I feel like i'm just watching a man slowly lose his sanity by playing Destiny. He really needs to take a break, show Bungie that they can't even keep the most influential player happy with all the shit they pull.
RE: Armor synthesis I decided to add up how much I’ve spent on Destiny so far after a year of playing the game. I know that these purchases were for the most part optional, but I wanted to show just how much you can spend on all the ways they monetize the experience outside of armor synth. I have spent no money on armor synth and don’t plan to. $14.99 Season of Arrivals bundle $53.16 Upgrade Edition: Shadowkeep and Forsaken DLCs $49.99 Beyond Light plus Season $9.99 for Silver for Season Pass $9.99 for Silver for Season Pass $59.99 for the Guardian Games jacket (I missed out on the DSC Raid one, okay) $49.99 for Penguin Figurine after completing the Europa Triumph $22.99 for Chosen Pin after completing Season of the Chosen $22.99 for the Splintered Pin after completing Europa Triumphs *Total so far: $294.08* I really do love this game. I bought the collectables because I wanted to have physical items to reflect what I’ve done in it and the fun I’ve had so far. I spent my time earning the achievements to unlock the codes for the items. I’m mostly okay with spending my money on physical items because I’m supporting the game and they’re items that require labor and materials to make. But it is a big money sink. I didn’t realize how much money and time I put in the game so far. I’m at 610 hours of playtime right now. And I’ve only been playing for a year. I’m finding myself needing to limit my play time and spending on the game, because I’m realizing how addictive it can get, and I’m running out of Vault storage space. What I've purchased isn't even the complete amount of items they've released via the triumph to grab the code products. If you wanted to get every item they've tied to a triumph in game the total would be much, much higher.
I want to add even without the physical collector's items, I've spent $138.12 on just the game itself, the DLCs and season passes. Just to be able to fully play the game and experience all it has to offer. I really, really don't think they needed to make armor synth so complicated for more money.
@@wood5596 I personally love the thing, maybe because Im the only player that isn't expecting more out of scouts. 🤷🏾 I do see what the community means when they say they want a buff, but they aren't completely useless, definitely still usable weapons. Idk about GM's and shit, but You can take these scouts (like i do my nightwatch) into faily high activities and it'll do fine, but maybe thats just me
Scouts aren't necessarily bad in higher end content since range is generally the better play and things are very tanky to begin with, but in lower end and/or enemy dense content scouts will fall short since add clear is more necessary and other primaries do the job better. Dead Man's is the only exception to this simply down to the fact that cranial spike allows it to one tap most adds at stacks past 2-3. Symmetry with Revolution procced is also not too bad but it's pretty niche in comparison.
In a loot-driven game (like Destiny), cosmetics *do* matter, and saying microtransactions are "just cosmetic" is only making excuses for the developer to continue exploiting their game and their players. This transmog drama is the most blatant example that cosmetics being sold in a loot-based game *does* actually affect your enjoyment of the game, whether you realize it or not. If I was trying to sell you something, why would I give out any of that something for free for any reason other than to manipulate you and coerce you to buy my actual product? Having cosmetics for sale creates a conflict of interest between creating the best game possible and pushing a user towards another sale. It's admittedly true that we would have LESS total cosmetics in Destiny if not for microtransactions, but I would greatly prefer an uncompromised game with fewer, but higher quality cosmetics. I understand a lot of people do actually realize this and it isn't that hard to grasp, but the community as a whole still really struggles with accepting it as reality.

Great recap. Funny part about Armor transmode is I polled my clan and other then a few sets no one plans on doing Armor Transfers to ornaments. As a guy who is D1 Beta in my experience I am proud to say I have never bought Eververse silver and I don't plan on it for ornaments. Since they are giving us some to play with 99% of my clan will be satisfied and be done just by using those freebies. Myself I don't plan on doing any unless a triumph is tied to doing one. I can see this season getting boring quick once I have grinded out each weeks worth of pinnacle drops. And once I am at power level 20 on the artifact and plus 10 on pinnacle I can forsee a dead zone. Great video as always. Enjoy
Override needs more. Right now it feels like a 3 man activity that accidentally queued 2 teams together.
Needs to spend more time in Tron-land and the whole data mote thing gets old pretty quick.
@@TReynard11 the free running even when you fail is fun.
@@TReynard11 the mote thing got old during Season of Arrivals, now it’s just another boring mechanic

Can't believe Datto spoiled the Bible, the real ending to Game of Thrones, and 2021 all in one video
Thanks for this vid Datto! Good to hear from you
I'm loving that you can make multiple keys to hold onto, so you can just run override over and over without needing to fiddle around in menus as well as make room for more ether when you're full. I also like that you can get ether from just killing guys anywhere. I'm barely touching the core playlists and almost always full on ether. Hell, you can get ether while doing override, so its almost self-sustaining.
And that's why I believe it's vastly superior to Chosen and Hunt.

About time D. At least your reviews are honest. Thanks for all the “exotic quest” videos BTW. 👍

So honest he hand waived transmog in his first video. Dude is clearly realizing how much a shill he looked now that all the details are out.
Btw always get the dungeon/raid bounty. It's literally like "beat a raid or a dungeon" or do a couple of raid encounters. Easiest bounty, ironically.
Tranmog is making it really hard to be happy about the season for me rn
Same. For the longest time, I've kind of forced myself to not care about fashion as much and just go for the stats because I didn't want to spend extra money on ornaments, so I was hyped about this. But that hype was ultimately ruined.
Yeah me too :(
Implementation is messy for sure.
Datto ranting about transmog is literally my spirit animal
Ngl, I really miss the days when being 320 or 335 in TTK meant you were a GRINDER and was atleast difficult to obtain since you could only do the hard mode for it.

Just a tip for the Synthesis bounties: go for the Dungeon/Raid ones. They are so much easier and being able to do them in dungeons makes them a breeze. You can complete the bounty in one dungeon run most of the times.
The story isn’t getting better, the story telling is just more explicit and actually exists. Amazing what actually trying to tell a story can do

Great video
The best part about this is your text towards the end of "getting more money for the studio means you're able to make more things for the game".....but then even that argument isn't really explaining stuff anymore. They're obviously making a lot of money through Eververse but we still have
Gambit unchanged after how many years
PVP and PVE still being balanced as one, instead of two different tables
Still a great lack of communication and transparency with the playerbase about changes or incredibly slow reaction times to things that need to patched/fixed
A year 1 raid coming back as the "new pinnacle content" (doubt that took much work)
One of the worst transmog systems ever implemented
Overload is essentially a vex themed, slightly tweaked 6man Gambit
There have been so many good ideas given to them by you and other communities members over the years that would help this game thrive so much more and they just continue to implement some of the most annoying stuff into the game. I wonder if they even play their own game anymore.
I feel like i'm just watching a man slowly lose his sanity by playing Destiny. He really needs to take a break, show Bungie that they can't even keep the most influential player happy with all the shit they pull.

I decided to add up how much I’ve spent on Destiny so far after a year of playing the game. I know that these purchases were for the most part optional, but I wanted to show just how much you can spend on all the ways they monetize the experience outside of armor synth. I have spent no money on armor synth and don’t plan to.

$53.16 Upgrade Edition: Shadowkeep and Forsaken DLCs
$49.99 Beyond Light plus Season
$9.99 for Silver for Season Pass
$9.99 for Silver for Season Pass
$59.99 for the Guardian Games jacket (I missed out on the DSC Raid one, okay)
$49.99 for Penguin Figurine after completing the Europa Triumph
$22.99 for Chosen Pin after completing Season of the Chosen
$22.99 for the Splintered Pin after completing Europa Triumphs
*Total so far: $294.08*
I really do love this game.

Nah nightwatch is a good scout rifle
Skyburners oath and nightwatch with explosive payload are awesome and eternal blazon with ricochet rounds is good too.
