@Datto Honestly the radiation guys make the run a lot smoother, run cenotaph as you get a free heavy brick so instead of waiting around killing ads for ammo you guarantee stocking up during setup. Plus suppressor gets to feel useful during the setup instead of standing around waiting for the other two to finish setting up. Then when damage phase comes you can freely switch to whichever exotic and switch to any special with all the bricks you've made. Makes 2 damage phases easy.

I love the difficulty of this dungeon so much. It’s hard enough to the point where you do need to be engaged for the most part but it’s also very teachable and easy to carry people if you have the right set up. Have been just running well lock all week helping people get clears
A big tip for final encounter on warlock. It’s to use the stag and stand on pillar where you can collect the signal in the end. Try to stand as high as you can, it can be a bit hard at first but if you practice like 3-5 time will it become easy. The best damage is grand overture and lost signal. It will be 3 phase or if you did bad damage then a 4 phase. Some tips to use hellion for some ignitions and song of flame to kill the dude with the nuke a deal a bit of damage to the boss. I ran solar but prismatic might work
My one gripe with encounter 2 is that I wish it was like Warlord's Ruin enc 2 where you could get all 4 totems in one wipe mechanic if you were efficient. An extra mechanic to see the remaining two numbers without forcing another whole rotation would have been nice, maybe suppress the grapes to "reveal" 2 more
How you gonna talk about the new dungeon, and not talk about the great loot? Both grenade launchers and the auto are all amazing. Makes repeat playthroughs worth it trying to get those god rolls
The red lights on the servitors represent their number in binary. Take a clock starting from the top being the first and clockwise to the left one being the last. light on means 1 and light off means 0. For exemple on the servitor number 6, light pattern would be off/on/on/off which give us 0110 in binary or 6 :)
@6:55 this is exactly the kind of encounters Destiny NEEDS. Encounters designs that warrant DIFFERENT optimizations(aoe over single target dps) of our weapons/abilities. They just need to push even farther in that direction and eventually we’ll have a place for our “but what if I might need it” weapons & exotics.
I enjoyed it, I haven’t felt excited to do a dungeon in awhile so I’m really glad. I wasn’t too sure about the design of the dungeon loot but it is growing on me especially the special grenade launcher.
The 4 dots on the faces of the targeted servitors are a binary code that displays that servitor’s number without you needing to read their name. You read it clockwise from the top dot and add up the lot up dots to get the number.
One thing I'm interested in is, is where the orange arc energy is gonna take us eventually, maybe in the Frontiers we get alternative Light Supers, Aspects and Fragments to match the alternative types of Energy they are showing is a thing
7:52 I think it'd be nice if the dots were related to a DPS timer extension, like how w/ the nuke you can extend for atraks. Sometimes the servitor DPS feels like only half the time as usual for some reason, so the extention would be nice. Maybe you first shoot the number panel for the servitor like usual, but before shooting the next servitor's number you'd have to shoot the panel that matches the number of dots on the first servitor, etc. Then if you did that for all 4, you'd get some extra DPS time
Fr they really nailed the mystery of it. Even after you unravel a lot of it, there's still mystery left. I'd absolutely love to see the Vex maintain the lovecraftian feel they had here
I just duo’d the dungeon for my first completion with my buddy yesterday❤ I’m a healing warlock and he’s the dps hunter! Honestly 5 phases for the final boss with 2 people felt great and was a lot of fun! I give this dungeon a 8.5/10 and we duo’d it keep that in mind, it was a bit harder than it should’ve been yah know❤
I just want the electricity thing to be a different color or easier to see in the moment, sometimes it’s legit impossible for me to tell when and where they’re dropping or the after effect as well. Overall I like it, gonna be hell solo but fun as hell as a trio
7:33 the light's on the servitors faces is actually binary that corresponds with the servitors number. the top light is 1, the right light is 2, the bottom light is 4 and the left light is 8. if you add all the numbers of the lit up lights you get the servitors number
If you run it with the same team it’s not too bad, try the tank well strat with grand overture for dps and two arc damage resist with sniper resist. It’s a pretty good strat
As someone who has solo flawlessed nearly every dungeon, I don't think it is meant to be easy nor should it be. It should be a test of your knowledge on the dungeon's mechanics and combat encounters as well as your ability to execute on an encounter that is tuned for three people. That being said, I think taking 9 phases of damage to kill a boss feels like we've lost the plot a bit. I'm not saying a solo should be able to complete the bosses as easily as a full team, obviously not. But these past few final bosses have felt like a test in patience more than anything. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if these bosses didn't also have fairly long mechanical phases before the damage phases, but they do. It would be nice if boss health adapted to the number of people in your fireteam. I don't know if that means 1/3 of the people should equate to 1/3 of the health, I don't know exactly what a good tuning would look like. But I think it does need to be tuned somehow.
I believe the dots are just the servitors number in binary with top being 1, right being 2, bottom being 4, and left being 8. I’ve noticed the eyes are always the same based on its number (1 is always only top, 7 is always top right and bottom, etc). Just a way to quickly see the number without having to look directly at it to see it’s name
On second encounter, the red dots indicate the number panel, so you dont have to look at the name. Its bianary, so top dot is 1, rigbt is 2, bottom is 4, left is 8. Multiple dots just add together. Top and left would be 9 for example.
I loved the dungeon - I did think the servitor boss mechanic loop is a bit weird as there’s no indication you need 4 total buttons, so two “top floors” in which you don’t actually do much up there. Awesome boss design and environment overall, and I loved how they adapted the DSC mechanics
My only gripe with the dungeon is that the first boss encounter is pretty deciving on you needing to get all 4 numbers before putting in the code for no reason. There's no text, there's no sound, and the one thing that shows you that you are making progress (the triangle light things) dont reset. To say the least I was banging my head against what the highlighted dots amount in number and location on the servitors ment to figure out how to get 2 more numbers in one run for a bit. Besides that if I wanted to push it the lighting strikes vs Atraks are a bit visually confusing to keep track of but skill issue at the same time
Fun fact, the dots that show up on the Servitors faces in the second encounter are in binary, starting with bit one on the top going clockwise Kind of a nice touch imo
Completed my solo flawless last night and I think I was in the boss encounter for over an hour and a half because I had to play it so safe, I didn’t even use the nuke for the second damage phase I just got out of there. Also nobody be ashamed to use the cheese spot on the left, you have to have crazy healing to make it work though since you’re trading cover from enemies for safety from lightning
Having gotten the solo flawless for this dungeon already, I genuinely hated the experience this go around entirely because of the last boss, and that was even using the safe spot with Whisper for damage. The boss health pool of SIXTEEN MILLION paired with the lethality of the DPS phase... we're getting to points where I legitimately think we need fireteam scaling going forward because if you can survive 4 or so phases to get to DPS? You know the mechanics, the boss HP shouldn't be as big of a factor at that point because it's just an insane amount of time required.
I still have a fundamental problem with content mode and bungie's larger impression with temporal difficulty modes. This dungeon is great and not having to do it >30 times to get the exotic is certainly effecting my opinion of it in a positive way. I really have to wonder why things like contest (especially a contest mode like this with the additional mechanic of an enrage timer) and Pantheon *have* to be temporary and aren't permanent/semi-permanent additions to the game.
Pantheon is another thing. But the reason contest is not permanent is because it gives you something to look forward to. If it was a permanent experience, people wouldn’t really look forward to more contest coming in the future with as much excitement; engagement will dwindle. Like the same reason league doesn’t keep any additional game modes for long. It will be the next hot thing for like a month and then no one will care; it will become as mundane as the rest of the game. Bungie doesn’t want that sentiment associated with their biggest events.
It doesn't help that part of the "challenge" of contest is something being new and having to figure out strategies on the fly while also being squeezed by the much higher difficulty, after the 48 hours is up each encounter is basically solved and it becomes more of a matter of "do this to win" once it's been figured out, which is kind of what we see when things move over to Master even though it's still -20 power. (Though that's not to say the "winning strategy" is always easy to execute either, as everything is still throwing hands the whole time.) Though I will applaud the attempt at making contest still stand out with the Res Tokens and Enrage timers you don't normally see in dungeons even on Master, it had me feeling like this was them testing the waters for those difficulty modifiers they were talking about for Frontiers, so we may see some more permanent inclusions for stuff like this in the game by next year.
My team thought the extra dots on the eye of the servitors were the sequence you needed to shoot the numbers in to extend damage phase by a couple seconds, haven't had the chance to confirm it but it really felt like sometimes we had more time to do damage.
Someone else in the comments pointed out that the dots (when "read" clockwise around the face) are the servitors' numbers in binary. So if the 'eyes' at the 12:00, 3:00, and 6:00 positions are lit then it is servitor #7, etc.
I thought it was just only the ones with the red eyes took full damage? At least it felt like I still put in good damage when I used Syntho + TCrash + Parasite + Consecration and it was just Glacial Quake did even better, but I can accept it was TCrash and Parasite doing most of the heavy lifting there.
So mad that I never finished contest, didn’t get past the final boss. We started playing at 11pm first night and 1:30am second night. Next time my team is booking the day off, we underestimated it this time lol
i agree it's a great dungeon; though i think encounter two needs a little more time in the oven. there's no reason to make us go up twice to get two sets of numbers. perhaps the lights were instead for telling us another related number - like if servitor 4 has a light on the top, it means shoot 4 AND 5 (one above 4). and if it's too hard for people to figure out, have the second rotation give the hidden set. like if first was 4 UP 8 DOWN, the second set will be 5 DOWN 7 UP. if you wanted to get crazy, you could even have up and right count as +1 each, and down and left count as -1. so like 5 UP RIGHT DOWN would be 5 + 2 - 1, meaning 5 and 6 get shot. something just to make the encounter faster and make the lights not just a piece of trivia that they're the servitor numbers in binary.
On the first night, I thought it was so cool when I realized that you want aoe damage DPS unlike everything else in the game. So unique, I even broke out the Hullabaloo and Prospector lol
My thought on the Servitor lights was the number of lights indicated the position in the code. Turns out, the order doesnt matter. I'm wondering if they had a plan for a mechanic, but abandoned it to avoid overbloating the encounter.
YES!! i agree with SO much of what you said here. FUCK THE BARREL. i didn't clear on contest but i want more contest dungeons to kick my ass so i can get better!! i loved the vibe, loved the music - definitely got major LOST (2004) scary weird island vibes from it all which i was a huge fan of. my one concern with the contest mode of this dungeon was the wipe timer on encounter one. i think like, an extra 15 to 30 seconds would keep it tight, but allow for a little flexibility in enemies spawning in a little wonkily, which happened to my team a lot and caused time losses that left us wiping as we were fighting the big brig. i Liked the timer being our wipe condition to keep us moving quick and keep us working on being perfect, but the punishment for shit out of our control felt a little much. other than that? 12/10 bungie. you knocked this out of the park. SUCH an incredible experience all around. contest crota showed us bungie was trying to keep things hard, salvation's edge and this dungeon proved that yeah, they're still kicking ass.
Wasn't super looking forward to another Braytech area after the one's we've had that kinda felt samey--but ripping it up and adding the light horror styling really helped a lot.
The dots of the servitors are binary, telling you which servitor is which number, so you don't necessarily need to see the names to know what your numbers are.
Really like everything about this dungeon, boss fight on solo is kinda a nightmare due to the many one shots that can happen. Made beating it feel better tho
FYI Tether is still disabled even though it was supposed to just be for contest mode. They also haven't mentioned it as a bug yet, and I'm starting to think personally that they may never activate it again in this dungeon bc it'll just guarantee a one phase on the servitor.
The Lightning Strikes are just the Purple beams during the Taniks boss fight. Except Yellow/Orange is extremely difficult to see, especially when the lighting in the area is the same color. I feel like the lighting could've been adjusted a little more. Or there should be a warning sound cue like the Capri Sun slurping when your Radiation accelerates. Also, the 2 boss encounters just have a lot of nonsensical padding to get to damage phase. The 2nd encounter having 1 mechanic to tangle with and the final boss just being a marathon of redundant mechanics. Kind wish they added more mechanics for the second encounter but also removed the padding for it. And the boss fight should just be 1 room, or 2 less clones at the start to get the Operator and Scanner. Just SOMEthing to speed up the process.
Gonna run the dungeon for the first time tonight. I’m not good with the scanner, operator and suppressor mechanics at all so this one sounds like it’ll be rough for me and my cousin even on normal mode

I give this dungeon a 8.5/10 and we duo’d it keep that in mind, it was a bit harder than it should’ve been yah know❤
I fucking love it when content beats my ass so hard I consider going back to playing FFXIV
I just think the puppeteer fight just takes too long for me to want to keep doing it
If you run it with the same team it’s not too bad, try the tank well strat with grand overture for dps and two arc damage resist with sniper resist.
I think they definitely have to do something like that. Adjust boss health dependent on the size of the fire team.
Exactly man. I just don’t have time to practice anymore.
Literal skill issue esoterickk already SF it
@@omars1369Esoterickk is god though😂
@@tomcoleman5286 no he's not, he's just good at solo content, no need to glaze
On the Serviator encounter, when you shoot the right switches there are 4 triangles on the right side that light up as you go
I believe the dots are just the servitors number in binary with top being 1, right being 2, bottom being 4, and left being 8.
The dots on the servitor’s faces in 2nd Encounter are actually a way to tell the number of the servitor if you have your HUD off :)
the safe zone from lighting is the same as the platform is atraks on, she is in the middle -> safe zone in the middle
Big if true
@@davide29250 not always true. The lightning always is summoned on the player, so long as you are on the battlefield and not out of bounds
@@thefunny3320 only 1 half of the line Is safe
Not true, got killed by anomaly discharge during dps trying to damage with bastion after running out of ammo on doomed
Besides that if I wanted to push it the lighting strikes vs Atraks are a bit visually confusing to keep track of but skill issue at the same time
Fun fact, the dots that show up on the Servitors faces in the second encounter are in binary, starting with bit one on the top going clockwise
Kind of a nice touch imo
Contest was awesome. Only got the first room cleared but that felt great
Completed my solo flawless last night and I think I was in the boss encounter for over an hour and a half because I had to play it so safe, I didn’t even use the nuke for the second damage phase I just got out of there.
Contest mode was much harder than i thought. Adding enrage and a time limit to the first part was very smart.
Seeing NutMaster and Angel in the footage speaks to the "gamimg w the buds" quality of the content.
Our first attempt got SOOO hung up on the number/pattern of lights on the “target” Servitors.
I loved warlords but the loot was so ass outside of the sidearms. So happy to have great content with fun loot in vespers
(Though that's not to say the "winning strategy" is always easy to execute either, as everything is still throwing hands the whole time.)
Though I will applaud the attempt at making contest still stand out with the Res Tokens and Enrage timers you don't normally see in dungeons even on Master, it had me feeling like this was them testing the waters for those difficulty modifiers they were talking about for Frontiers, so we may see some more permanent inclusions for stuff like this in the game by next year.
I’m glad people like it but for me when I’m doing a dungeon I’m not looking to do a raid.
If you take the time to run through the dungeon you’ll find it’s actually pretty simple
@@ExtraordinaryFate I guess on normal mode you don’t have the rage timers. Still just more complex than I care for.
The dungeons are literally meant to be 3-player raids and always have been.
I know what you mean but you can literally do every Dungeon solo
Thugger kong racing in the ad background???? Oddwin reference?
It’s a big edge case, but you can kill the atraks clones in pre-damage phase to farm heavy ammo for as long as you need
6:31 bro what happened to that captain
10:50 We killed them to generate Heavy and used clone to distract before tripmine part, so Suppressor was useful for me personally
Fun fact, The 2nd boss takes 99.5% less damage from consecration.
where tf did you get that from
@@toad4641 I saw it on X of someone doing damage calculations for the boss
That would explain why my damage numbers were like 335, thought it was a visual bug
@@adummy9664 from what I’ve seen the red eyes don’t matter
my group used the radiation guys to ceno swap and farm ammo to make sure we had max ammo every dps phase
So mad that I never finished contest, didn’t get past the final boss. We started playing at 11pm first night and 1:30am second night. Next time my team is booking the day off, we underestimated it this time lol
soloing the final encounter as a hunter takes a strong SOUL especially trying to live through the damage phase
i agree it's a great dungeon; though i think encounter two needs a little more time in the oven. there's no reason to make us go up twice to get two sets of numbers. perhaps the lights were instead for telling us another related number - like if servitor 4 has a light on the top, it means shoot 4 AND 5 (one above 4). and if it's too hard for people to figure out, have the second rotation give the hidden set. like if first was 4 UP 8 DOWN, the second set will be 5 DOWN 7 UP. if you wanted to get crazy, you could even have up and right count as +1 each, and down and left count as -1. so like 5 UP RIGHT DOWN would be 5 + 2 - 1, meaning 5 and 6 get shot. something just to make the encounter faster and make the lights not just a piece of trivia that they're the servitor numbers in binary.
I think the radiation dudes on the bottom floor exist so cenotaph warlocks can generate heavy ammo
There is a strat that 2 phases the boss when fully optimized, would recommend it because it got me to a 3 phase
i can't believe the cook unity guy is also covering destiny ! what a wild crossover :p
I wish they would have an option for contest for more than 2 days. Whenever there's contest mode, I'm too busy
as one who hasnt done Deep Stone Crypt, I like the looks. and a fun dungeon
The dots of the servitors are binary, telling you which servitor is which number, so you don't necessarily need to see the names to know what your numbers are.
absolutely incredible dungeon and such a fun and tough contest experience, really hope they keep this energy for new dungeons going forward!
I only watch these ad reads when you do them Datto. Only you. Get that bag sir.
I really loved this dungeon… didn’t do contest but it was funnnnn
Onslaught being back (I wish we had shinies again tho, even at reduced rates) and a banger dungeon
Really enjoying Revenant thus far
It was great. I'm definitely going in with a team I know is solid next time though. Trying to LFG it sucked.
I’ve haven’t played this dungeon and probably never will, but I agree with you Daddo. Thank you for giving me my opinion.
Really like everything about this dungeon, boss fight on solo is kinda a nightmare due to the many one shots that can happen. Made beating it feel better tho
On the solo front, I put this as slightly easier than ghosts, but both are very much not bad first 2 encounters and brutal final bosses.
It’s very unfortunate. That solo on contest mode was impossible because of the final boss, but it is also my favorite.
theres no way i just got a cookunity ad the second after he stoped the add read
Yk what if it kicked Datto's ass so hard that it gave him impostor syndrome then I feel a little better about not being able to beat the puppeteer 😭
I think the dungeon is really good, contest was super fun. Maybe a slightly better loot pool but its great fun.
all of the weapons are good?
edit: fusion is ok lol
Finally 5 months of grinding for those 5rbs doing neomuna bounties was finally worth it🎉
for context datto stood on a barrel for hours using a well of radiance
Great encounters, great loot, great puzzles. Destiny at its finest.
FYI Tether is still disabled even though it was supposed to just be for contest mode. They also haven't mentioned it as a bug yet, and I'm starting to think personally that they may never activate it again in this dungeon bc it'll just guarantee a one phase on the servitor.
They have mentioned it, consistently causing guitar errors
Ah me and a friend also did the adding up thing for the servitors. Even though the location mattered at some point.
Totally agree this is my new favorite dungeon
Gonna run the dungeon for the first time tonight. I’m not good with the scanner, operator and suppressor mechanics at all so this one sounds like it’ll be rough for me and my cousin even on normal mode
