@@kennycarpenter7782 Me too. I just got the 6L6 one and I love it. Sounds so good and you really don't even need a boost pedal cause channel 3 is so much gain.
@@manicmurph i have the same 6L6 as well. It's not just brute force gain but I love the tone too. Watch out for channel one. Mine had a connection issue and needed repair. Works great now.
The editing on these videos has stepped up over the past year and it really adds to the entertainment value! You guys are the Top Gear of guitar gear as far as I'm concerned!
Love these videos so much I keep forgetting that they are advertisements. If I could have one wish come true it would be to travel to England and shop at Andertons.
The mugs constantly breaking and reappearing brings me much more joy than you would logically think possible. Love that it's a running gag on this channel.
well its a question of taste really. the EVH has a certain high mids - treble bite or hiss to it that you just have to like I guess - and thats obviously not Robs cup of tea. I guess I wouldn't enjoy playing one on itself - but I imagine its killer in the band, as I find myself regularly dialing in this kind of frequencies. Also a friend of mine plays one live and I really like his live tone.
A blindfold challenge with Amp-in-a-Box pedals vs the real Amp would be great. E.g. there are a lot Plexi and Soldano type pedals out there. You could also include cheaper similar / copied Amps like the Jet City for Soldano tone
The redundancy of listening to high quality guitar amplifiers and greenback speakers through my little phone speaker in mind, the Friedman amp sounded delightful. Like it was stubbornly refusing to play heavy metal shredding without adding a touch of classic rock.
These vids are genius first of all. And I can’t get enough of you guys. I would pay money to just sit and talk with you and listen to you guys play and give each other a hard time. Thank you a truly entertaining and informative gear review
I like the whiteboard - very helpful. Another fun blindfold challenge. Thank you. Oh, and I preferred the Victory in this context, though they all sounded pretty good in different ways.
Agreed on the whiteboard and that they all sound good for different applications. I think my personal favorite was the Kemper to be honest which to be fair is a silverback patch. I wasn't personally feeling the actual victory this time around though compared to everything else.
I always come back during hard times to watch and listen to this video. Never gets old for some reason. I needed it right now and it was there too. Not sure what that means but just yeah. Thanks
This is the best blind test I have seen in a while. A man who obviously has chops and pretty well knows the "feel" of how the various amps respond to his playing VERSUS the blind sound of the amps in a room. I expected him to recognize and love the sound of the Victory amp right away, since he is VERY familiar with that sound. No surprises there. And once again, the Kemper is clearly demonstrated to be the current pinnacle of modeling technology.
totally agree, ive the markv35 and with that setting is not his tone .. plus they could have use the other sounds of the channel 2.. plus without the eq it doesnt sound right
Exactly my thoughts. Boogie fooked straight away as they need dialing in right. I have the 25w version an settings on noon just dont work like a lot of amps :(
Compared to the old Marks like the II or III it's a breeze to adjust, to be honest, but agreed it's definitely not a "set everything to noon and go" type of amp.
MY exact same thought. You need to KNOW how to dial a Boogie Mark series to make it sound awesome. With everything at 12 o'clock it will sound like shit.
I would have laughed at the settings on my Mark IV before I owned one. Seriously bass at 1.5, mid 3, treble 5.5. Graphic or not but at noon I wouldn’t use a mesa
Almost everyone I know that uses Mark Vs don't really have them set at 12 o'clock. They're the sort of amp with a million features and settings, but most people find a dirty tone they like and a clean tone and then never touch the knobs again
Rob trying to find the tuners on that reverse headstock blindfolded reminds me of my first time I makin' it to third base with a girl....I know it's around here somewhere, just keep feelin' lol
I'm for sure, really want and going to get an andertons shirt. I am visiting England in 8 months and I am certainly making a stop at Andertons for sure...MOST DEFINITELY!!!
Excellent vid guys! We learned that Chappers normally looks at his fingers a great deal whilst playing. Naughty Chappers! We also learned, or perhaps got further affirmation, that Rob cannot tell the difference between a valve amp and the Kemper no matter what you try. We also learn from these awesome blind fold challenge videos that so much of the perception of amplifiers and instruments is brand marketing and brand loyalty rather than objective analysis of the amps and instruments themselves. I am happy that the amp Rob rated as his favorite was what it was because it deserves that recognition.
What I find interesting is that usually Rob gets most things right and even guesses details correctly... on guitars. Now this amp demo he got basically everything wrong. That's interesting.
This just shows that the Friedman is the most amazing, in terms of sound, and the fact that it doesn't need a noise-gate as Chappers thought it sounded noiseless enough.
The 5150 III sounds awesome. Completely blew the others away for me. The Victory second. The rest either were flubby or had a horrible grainyness in the highs or upper mids that hurt my ears.
Chappers: "less gain please, because gain hides lots of stuff". Bingo. Got it in one Robbo. Maybe try less gain when demo'ing gear in the future? The honesty of the Andertons guys is phenomenal, and it would help a lot to hear more clean stuff, slower melodic lines, and chordal stuff held longer so the decay can be heard? Now that's just one guy's preference although I bet I'm not the only one.
Bit tricky with the Mesa, if you want it to be tighter you can turn the bass down in the input stage and compensate with more in the 5 band rather rather than turning the gain down, but if you're blindfolded you wouldn't know to ask for that.
Great video. I would like to see a more serious video of 1W amps. Compare them all like the distortion pedal video. Or amps that are switchable to less than 3W.
It really is a whole psychoacoustic thing. Throw in an overdrive and EQ, and you can make them all sound alike.Chappers, don’t feel so bad, I couldn’t tell the difference either. I realized how full of shit we all are as guitarists sometimes. With our talk of feel and how “organic” is the response and the connection with the amp, blah blah, yadda yadda. As if amps grow on a tree in an orchard somewhere . Even funnier after having done this test as well , between my friends, is how favourites and not so favourites changed places. One of my friends who absolutely adores the EVH, almost gave it a last place ranking blindfolded, saying it sounded kind of cheap. Wow. In the end what did we learn, play the sound not the product or name, and something as versatile as a PSA1.1 , which is analog ( or a Kemper, which is digital ) blew them all away, they can sound like whatever you want them to.
I love how Lee had a mini panic attack at being asked to adjust the Kemper.
LikeMikeSIKE LOVE that band!
17:10
and after he does he's still not sure he did it right
I'm not sure he even adjusted it at all. I think he just pretended to. :D
10:42 When he gave away that the amp had an EQ because it was a Mesa Mark V
The EVH 5150 with the Tube Screamer going through it sounded awesome.
That was so brutal is made Lee make a stank face. There's a reason it's my favorite amp.
I love my 5150. It's absolutely brutal!
Yes it did!
@@kennycarpenter7782 Me too. I just got the 6L6 one and I love it. Sounds so good and you really don't even need a boost pedal cause channel 3 is so much gain.

Oisin McPhillips time for a meme
LOL, as seen on the Action Lee-play! XD
on point
more like he is miffed and embarrassed!
And for the 5153 no less. Rob didn't care for it, but that was the best amp. That thing has all the tightness
The editing on these videos has stepped up over the past year and it really adds to the entertainment value! You guys are the Top Gear of guitar gear as far as I'm concerned!
Anyone that has ever played an EVH previously would recognize the pre-amp hiss instantly :)
That EVH sounds unreal here. The first chord he played through it sounded absolutely brutal.
Love these videos so much I keep forgetting that they are advertisements. If I could have one wish come true it would be to travel to England and shop at Andertons.
Andertons is an advantage to living in England
Dr JT what do you mean don’t need a person can never have too many instruments
They're only about an half hour down the road from where I live...and yes the shop is as good as it sounds :)
I live nearby and have spent WAY too much money there...
If she went for it. she is a keeper.
That EVH was my favorite by far. Sound was insane. Can't believe Chappers didn't like it. 😭
Vormalowitz the Friedman Runt OWNED all those amps...with perhaps the exception of the Victory.
tomulator I liked the Boogie. Sounded really good to me.
Dude there’s something about those evh amps that are magic
I’ve owned and gigged both the EVH and the Runt 50...quickly sold the EVH. Still gig the Runt.
Kemper imo
Should've put in the Roland Blues Cube again just for kicks
cup exploding behind the whiteboard made me giggle.
The mugs constantly breaking and reappearing brings me much more joy than you would logically think possible. Love that it's a running gag on this channel.
Matt Kettmann I was praying they wouldn’t forget the sound effect and when I heard it I screamed
I love the part when Rob said that "it's a Kemper" the dramatic sound effect goes in sync with Lee putting down his mug.
Man the EVH has such a distinct and recognizable tone. I love those amps.
The EVH was immense. I'm honestly shocked Rob thought it was the worst one.
well its a question of taste really. the EVH has a certain high mids - treble bite or hiss to it that you just have to like I guess - and thats obviously not Robs cup of tea. I guess I wouldn't enjoy playing one on itself - but I imagine its killer in the band, as I find myself regularly dialing in this kind of frequencies. I think it's a cultural thing. American and English amps tend to sound noticeably different.
I just listened to the video without watching. 5150 stood out as by far away the best to me. It wasn't close
the EVH sounded like zeus screaming.... thats a holy amp
A blindfold challenge with Amp-in-a-Box pedals vs the real Amp would be great. E.g. there are a lot Plexi and Soldano type pedals out there. You could also include cheaper similar / copied Amps like the Jet City for Soldano tone
Who ever edited the video, you deserve love!
That would be Rory. He is the best

That 5150 with the TS9 was so incredibly heavy 🤯
The Friedman killing it! It sounded so good. The Friedman and the 5150 were my favorites!
Should have snuck a Katana in there when Rob mentioned it.
I always come back during hard times to watch and listen to this video. Never gets old for some reason. I needed it right now and it was there too. Not sure what that means but just yeah. Thanks
That EVH is just a monster. Other amps sound so polite next to it. :D Not saying that it's better or worst. It's just beastly monster. :D Love it.
I love the fact you still made the coffee cup shatter/disappear even behind the whiteboard. Bravo.

The mark v really comes into its own when it’s set up properly , especially the EQ, it’s hard to dial in for most , so 12 oclocks dont di it justice .
totally agree, ive the markv35 and with that setting is not his tone .. plus they could have use the other sounds of the channel 2.. plus without the eq it doesnt sound right

Keep up the good work, Rory - the tumbleweeds were a stroke of creative genius!
You guys are a joy to watch.
I love when lee busts robs balls when he is already so vulnerable. And vice versa. Also Rory with the edits always killing it.
Guys you're awesome, thank you for being part of humanity and messing aroung with guitar stuff.
You made my life better for 30 min.
The editing is just getting better and better
Pet had me in tears at the end!!! Thanks for reminding everyone that music is fun!
Would have loved the JVM 410 in there since it's one of Marshalls flagships for a couple of years now but still a lot of fun anyways :D
The Friedman and EVH were spectacular. It's been a while since I've watched an Andertons video and this one was a blast.
The Friedman sounded righteous! Was my favourite too
Please consider to include Boss Katana Head on your next test. I want to hear the Katana compare or compete with the others.
I'm for sure, really want and going to get an andertons shirt. I am visiting England in 8 months and I am certainly making a stop at Andertons for sure...MOST DEFINITELY!!!
Yeah, I always thought the HK Meister amps sounded like a guitar pedal. There's something up with the distortion that I really don't like.

The 5150 sounds huuuge
Your blindfold challenges are my favorite guitar related videos on the internet. Great job guys
That Friedman is just heaven......❤
I LOVE THESE MORE!! Please these videos with lee and chapman make my day
I loved the 5150 III sound!!! Never would have thought that I like an amp with EL34s :) Thumbs up!!!
Love the idea with the whiteboard! Makes the Video even better!
I get sooo much joy out of these videos cheers
I still chuckle every time they do the breaking glass sound thing when they put down a mug or whatever. Good stuff.
Hey fellas! These videos are great! Thanks for all the work you put into them. Makes me wish I lived in the UK. Cheers!
Pete dancing moves... Lee reactions to a "less gain" request... And the shred... The best gear channel!
Yess idk why but i LOVE the blindfold challenges, maybe cause I close my eyes and play along :D
too bad this one sucks :(
What I find interesting is that usually Rob gets most things right and even guesses details correctly... on guitars. Now this amp demo he got basically everything wrong. That's interesting.
That ending was so professional! xD I love this channel long time and the vids are getting so good! good effort :)

Bring them on.

imo the EVH is the best bang for buck , but only for clean channel , the clean is fabulous
even if the review isnt the best ever i love watching these boys mess around
Great job, guys! These blindfolded vids are a lot of fun. My top two were the EVH and the Friedman.
I'm so glad to see a Chapman guitar is love for you guys to do a video with a Chapman
These guys are the definition of mind games in this vid
I enjoyed this video so very much. Please keep going with this blindfold challenge type videos.
Watching Chappers and the Captain while sick at home makes life a little better!
I didn't expect to like that Victory as much as I do. Such a deep and throaty tone.
EVH EL34 is my dream head. Just an absolute GAINMACHINE.
Great show dudes......
I'm just glad to see all of us dudes are exactly the same. I know of nobody who doesn't flip the bird to a blindfolded person.
What these videos have taught me is that a good way to tell that you're listening to a valve amp is if Chappers exclaims "Kemper".
The 5150 III sounds awesome. Completely blew the others away for me. The Victory second. The rest either were flubby or had a horrible grainyness in the highs or upper mids that hurt my ears.
'all controls at noon"...
Usually doesn't sound the best.
I am just watching this for the disappearing coffee mugs !! 😆
I love the blindfold challenges, please do MORE!!!
I like how in the world of endless video editing possibilities you chose a whiteboard.
All of these are incredible!!
Hit LIKE before video started ha..... love these type of videos.... informative and always funny... nice one lads 👍
I’m buying an Anderton’s shirt. These videos are so interesting and entertaining! 👏🏻👍🏻🤘🏻
Whoever edits these vids is a god😂😂
You should have picked the Silverback instead of the V130, just to put Rob on the spot.
YES
Well, he mostly uses the RD1 these days, and he didn't recognize the Kemper profile of it
He did say it sounded like a Victory so he gets half credit. Those Kempers really do sound pretty damned good when you dial it in right.
This is a great video! I liked it. keep them coming!
Chappers: "less gain please, because gain hides lots of stuff". Bingo. Got it in one Robbo. Maybe try less gain when demo'ing gear in the future? Victory continues to impress...Friedman, as always, is a beast
6:47 Can we just appreciate how smooth that pickup switch was

Great video Cap'n & Chappers these are so riotious.
This was so much fun to watch!
I'd love to see one of these videos with a Positive Grid Bias Head with a tone match from an amp that Rob adores
i liked the evh 5150,the victory with the TS was pretty rad too
the EVH with the tube screamer is
huge ! ...and the Victory with the Muelner is Massive as well . lol Pete in the outro
The J bass artist formerly known as Steve W it's "Mjolnir"
''Ahh everything's on twelve..'' I was waiting for the face right after Lee said that XD
Im surprised i liked the Friedman the most. Thanks for doing this video 😊🤘
Love the Friedman runt 50. I have the runt 20 and love it.
Great video. I would like to see a more serious video of 1W amps. Compare them all like the distortion pedal video. Or amps that are switchable to less than 3W.
Lol everyone’s afraid to like the kemper. I appreciate all the work you guys put into these videos. I liked the boogie and Friedman the best.
Incredibly fun video. Loved it.
I LOVE the slo-mo lee faces. One of the best parts of the vids :)
I love this type of vids. U guy's are hillarious.
