Oh yeah. I've lost count how many musicians whose talents I adore turned out to have rancid personalities. Henrik, Jonah and Aron are just grounded, good people.
Henrik is such a great player and a delightful cat. Have met him a few times and he was a great hang. Dirty Loops are one of my fave groups....Great interview.
Sir, I donno if the people in this comment section realize it, but you're a legend in your own right. And considering your discography, that's high praise for Dirty Loops and Henrik! I'm pleased to know that at least I have good taste in music. If Lee likes 'em, they gotta be good. And good Henrik and Dirty Loops are, indeed. I hope I get to see them (and you!) in concert one of these days. I've yet to have the pleasure of either. You (and Henrik) are an inspiration to bassists everywhere! Keep it cranked to 11👍🎸🎶
If this truly is Leland Skalr himself , I will empty the vacuum cleaner and bow my head in the dust. Never thought I would find a legend like him anywhere close to the dustbins of modern life
I am not a bass player, actually I play the harpsichord. But I stumbled over Dirty Loops, fell in love with the smile of the bassist and looked for an interview, just to see whether this is more of a stage trick, or is the person like that? He is like that. What a sweet sweet soul, and an outstanding musician. Made my day.
I'll never get bored of watching Henrik Linder... He's humble, funny, and transparent. What a great human being. Thanks Scott for sharing this with us!
I just came across the video of Henrik and a drummer and they were "Kickin' it". I caught your interview with him and it was such a comfortable session that at 76 years old, I just realized that I don't shit about my bass!! He is a very down-to-earth cat and a true genius. I noticed a Victor Wooten influence on some of his licks. Truly, an unassuming genius. Great interview guys. I wish I could have been there to talk a little Funk. Thanks, Rick Ansbro
Scott has been raving about Henrik for a long time in his videos, it's cool to see him geek out with one of his heroes! Excellent production work, BTW!
Always a smile on my face when I hear Henrik talking and playing 🙂 Humble, funny and a great bass player! The solo on Baby is one of my favourites. And Old Armando. Fun one! 🐷😁
Been one of my favorite bassists for awhile while not being well documented on compared to some other stars, absolutely killer to see some more documentation on such a legend.
Yeah. Great interview! 👍😊Henrik is outstanding. What a bassplayer and monstermusician! 😊 ( I had the same teacher as him on bass some 20+ years ago, fantastic teacher)
Legend ! I found Dirty Loops while looking at a drum cover of Just Dance, stunned by the bass in the background of that video, I did some searching ... in 2014. Saw them a couple of weeks later in Paris/La Boule Noire. What a treat, small venue with Henrik casually strolling in through the front as we're waiting. Awesome gig, fan ever since !
This was awesome. It's always a treat watching Henrik play, and a double treat listening to him explaining what he does. Had to laugh when he said it was hard to play stuff slowly - kinda like when I'm running up my stairs - if I think of what I'm doing I trip. Okay, not the same thing... but anyways :) Thank you for 50 minutes well spent.
Dirty Loops popped up in my YT feed years ago, and i just fell in love with the groove, the sound, the vibe, the god-tier musicianship. So much respect for Henrik and the band.
Someone else said it below, but this living room/library type of setting with 2 hosts and a producer half profiled is really convivial and very enjoyable. Would love to see more with other bass players (and I'm a keyboard player). Cheers!
I really enjoy in all the reaction clips when the teacher or music expert starts with "okay what have you got !?" . It reaches the point where they realise that their better than me 😢 and ends with "I give up !". Perfect musicianship.
This new interview format has taken bass content to a whole new level - the insight you get from the player over the course of the interview is like nothing I’ve seen before. It’s so well put together and Scott & Ian are great hosts. Thanks for putting the effort into creating this great content ❤ if you’re taking requests I’d like to see Trevor Dunn on here 😎
Thanks for this video! I have wanted someone to dig into Henrik's genius and share it with everyone. His humility and talent are truly one-of-a-kind! I wish there had been a camera on him all the time while he played on the videos that have been shared of Dirty Loops. Those guys together are phenomenal, yet each is a true master in his own right. Again, thanks for this session with Henrik.
Big Henrik Linder fan here ☺️ Thanks guys for that interview, super super interesting 👍 Not to mention lovely, every single one of you on and off the set 💛 Thanks 🙏
Thanks for creating this interview! Just few days after I've seen the Dirty Loops live, and I was waiting for so many years for this to happen. Love it!
On the "EBS" definition...one of AC/DC's crew members came up with a different suggestion when a band opening for AC/DC was setting up an EBS rig on stage..."-EBS, what's that?? Expensive Bass Shite?" Also, half a point to Henrik for Electric Bass System, since the original definition was changed to Electric Bass System once the product portfolio expanded with much more than just the EBS-1 preamp that came out first. :) /The EBS Team
Finally watch the interview. Henrik is such a chill dude with tremendous skill. I love the transparency and humility and fun. For a next interview, gotta get Les Claypool or Flea. So many of the generation came from these guys.
Esse monstro esteve aqui no Brasil para um workshop apenas como um simples mortal, falando com todo mundo, sempre sorrindo, respondendo a todos. Não é a toa que os melhores são sempre e os mais humildes.
Hey, guys. Thanks for this video earlier in the year. My wife and I spend this week after Thanksgiving in London each year and guess who’s playing in Brixton tonight? Yep, Dirty Loops. Thanks to you for cluing me in. We’re stoked for the show.
I loved Henrik before watching this, and if it's possible I love him even more now. It shows the kind of genuine, fun and humble guy he is. What an absolute beast of a player! Spectacular interview!
What an amazing bassist. I had never heard of him, until this interview. Mind blown. He's astounding. I loved his fun way of playing and answering questions. I will be listening to Dirty Loops a little more in rotation. Thanks Scott and team. That was really cool.
"Work S**t Out" is a dopey pop song hiding an insane drum solo. And a Chopin-esque piano interlude. I wish it was even longer for a monstrous bass solo from Hendrik.
Aron Mellergård is my house God, and I'm not even a drummer. He's an absolute beast. Don't know how many times I've watched Dirty Loops and Songs For Lovers. Love it when he goes off - but I'm just as sold on his subtle stuff. I especially like his playing in Breakdown.
There are two rhythm sections that stand out to me, Aron and Henrik and Chris Allison and Simon Grove. They lock in on some kind of subconscious level that I do not understand.
Wow, First I just want to say what an excellent eye opening interview of one of todays top most groundbreaking, trend setting, electric bassist's in the world! Thank you so much Henrik for showing and revealing your various techniques, licks, grooves, gear, the whole nine yards. You are an incredible outstanding musician and bassist and one of the most humble down to earth virtuosos I have ever listened too. And thank you Scott and Ian for hosting this incredible interview and asking the so many useful questions and doing a deep dive into the nuances of Henrik's style and groove. I am sure many advanced professional bass players and beginner bass players questions were answered this video. Excellent and useful content in this video. Will revisit this again and again. Thank You.
I watch very few youtube videos longer than ~20 minutes. I knew, at 0:00 minutes that I would be watching this video to the end, with joy! Brilliant all around. I laughed, I cried, this was AMAZING! Thanks ALL!
What a humble guy. When he heard their album was her first, he was quite surprised. Such a unique player, and musical vibe with the band..easy to listen to, a bashtard to play!
Met all three when they came through OKC back in like 2014-2015ish, and all three of them are so humble and just awesome dudes. Henrik asked if I wanted to get a photo, cause he knew I was fanboying bad.. 😂😂😂 They deserve every bit of their success.
Very interesting, very funny guys! Really enjoyed this video. And gosh....Henrik Linder is the guy who put me into bass....I mean inspired me to learn the thing for real!!! Thank you to all of you guys!!
The fact that we get to enjoy the full spectrum of bass players playing like this all the way to guys like Mike League for example just remind me bass is limitless. They are all artist and I love the contrast.
Woaw! I hadn't heard him speak for years and I expected a very strong accent with a slight difficulty in fluency, and the guy's English is almost without an accent now! I'm so impressed by that as well.
I've been binging the SBL podcast for the past month, So Scott and Ian feel like my best friends at the moment lol. Glad to see Scott and Ian in the same room as well 🎉 Hendrik, such a great bass player too. I love me some Dirty Loops
Thanks guys ! Another great interview. He is indeed a cool cat, amazing bass player. For future interviews, l already suggested Paul Denman (Sade) ; but additionally &/or Stu Hamm ? l know there are so many ... Thanks again.
wld love that but I think has become reluctant to show iff his bass tricks..... indeed he has never been a publicist of his mastery IMHO....the best for me IMHO too
It says a lot about an artist when they have to let it sink in for a moment to internalize that there's someone in the studio whose first album she bought with her own pocket money was one of your band. It's the moment you realize that your music, the one thing you put your heart into, has a huge impact even on the youngest out there.
Great interview, and a rare chance to understand more about how Henrik comes up with his bass lines. Super humble guy, monster player! The surprise calls are awesome! I hope you get Hadrien on this format!
The whole “never meet your heroes” thing doesn’t look like it would apply to Henrik. Such a genuinely good dude and phenomenal musician.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Oh yeah. I've lost count how many musicians whose talents I adore turned out to have rancid personalities.
Henrik, Jonah and Aron are just grounded, good people.
Really agree with that. Dicovering certain personnalities can be deceiving, but not with Henrik.
What band/bands does he play in?
@@CillBlintonOfficial Dirty Loops!
Henrik is such a great player and a delightful cat. Have met him a few times and he was a great hang. Dirty Loops are one of my fave groups....Great interview.
Oh! Sir Lee Sklar é minha inspiração no Baixo
you both sir are amazing!

Woah....what a find this Saturday morning ! I almost don't want to watch this, it's like seeing the movie you've been dying to watch.....
I saw the video title and thumbnail and I was literally finna have a panic attack. I waited like 30 minutes then I CLICKED THAT BEEIITCHHH 😭😭😭😭
Met Henrik in Gothenburg some years ago and he's the sweetest soul. So genuinely nice and took his time. A lovely chat. Hats of ...
Henrik is the one guy who can "overplay" and do it appropriately and tastefully.
i'm not even a bass player and thought this interview was amazing... thanks for making this happen, super interesting
Scott has been raving about Henrik for a long time in his videos, it's cool to see him geek out with one of his heroes! Excellent production work, BTW!

Awesome dude! More to come!
Scott have you ever covered Stuart zender ? It seams like he would be an awesome interview going over all the old tunes
Agreed!
More Henrik content, more of the time! We really need a Henrik Linder course on SBL...
That would be awesome!
I really enjoy in all the reaction clips when the teacher or music expert starts with "okay what have you got !?" . It reaches the point where they realise that their better than me 😢 and ends with "I give up !". Perfect musicianship.
I saw Dirty Loops live three days ago, amazing band and very good guys i love them!
I'm a great fan of Dirty Loops, they are truly amazingly talented ❤

Really humble and honest for such a great player
"i cheat alot" 😂
Just saw Dirty Loops in Milan last Thursday, absolutely MINDBLOWING. The grooves were so nasty I had the stank face the whole concert
Lucky you 🔥☺️🔥
Hah, great description... The stank face. Yes....
Follow the Light is one of the few perfect songs out there. Henrik is a fucking god and this interview was fantastic. Great work team!
Love the format of this video it seems like a casual chat with friends, hope you do more interviews as a duo.
Thanks for this video! I have wanted someone to dig into Henrik's genius and share it with everyone. His humility and talent are truly one-of-a-kind! what a good interview. And a very gracious and humble person
Ppl geeking out about their instruments, or stuff they enjoy in general, is the best thing in the world.
This is pure GOLD right here
This got to go to your 2023 best inter. Moments
Thanks for creating this interview! Just few days after I've seen the Dirty Loops live, and I was waiting for so many years for this to happen.

I recently saw Henrik (Dirty Loops) live in Guatemala and it was AMAZING! 🔥
Gotta love SBL and the SBL guys. Individually and together, great interviews, lessons etc. Henrick is crazy Nice😢😮😊😅

He's awesome, it was a pleasure interviewing him!!
"The way she walks" is one of my favorite Dirty Loops songs, and yet, not many people noticed it.
Keep grooving!
Killer! 🔥🔥🔥
That was a fantastic interview. So fun. What an awesome talent from such a nice guy.
What an amazing bassist. I had never heard of him, until this interview. Mind blown. He's astounding. I loved his fun way of playing and answering questions. I will be listening to Dirty Loops a little more in rotation. Thanks Scott and team. That was really cool.
Great video, really fun to watch!
As a bass player, I admire Henrik Linder. But listen to Dirty Loop’s drummer Aron Mellergård. He is truly amazing!
I agree 1000%.. Super sick drummer

a 50mins UA-cam finest! thank you SBL Team!
Henrik is a MASTER on the BASS!! He is so awesome and amazing. I feel like he is messing with us when he plays. He is so humble too! Cool guy!
To me what really sets Henry's bass lines is the harmonization with the keys... slapping is cool, but man... this is is another level
Now this is the Top Gear of bassplaying. Carry on !
One of the most phenomenal bassist I have ever heard in my life... and I'm a boomer I remember louis Johnson and all the rest... hands down the best.
Heard him play live with Dirty Loops a few days ago in Milan! Upsetting bass player and real funny guy!
🧡🧡🧡
Whoa, lucky you!!
I’m so happy right now 🥳
love Henrik and Dirty Loops, Circus is one of my most favs
Yuppp 🔥🔥🔥

I've been binging the SBL podcast for the past month, So Scott and Ian feel like my best friends at the moment lol. Glad to see Scott and Ian in the same room as well 🎉 Hendrik, such a great bass player too. I love me some Dirty Loops
1000 points for anybody that recognises the masterpiece behind Henrik
Finally!! A great interview with one of the most talented (and at the same time underrated) bass players from our days
Love that format, and we need more dirty loops gigs in France ❤️😉
Another sensational interview! You guys are the guys! Hendrik is really an amazing musician.
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks guys ! Another great interview. He is indeed a cool cat, amazing bass player.
For future interviews, l already suggested Paul Denman (Sade) ; but additionally &/or Stu Hamm ? l know there are so many ...
Thanks again.
Loved the interview!!!!!!! Thank you!!!! Next Hadrien 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 😉
Never understood why the track 'Dirty' is never mentioned - the greatest bass solo this Century!!
Henrik is by far the most influential bass player for me!
What a legend! Please get Geddy Lee on for a future episode!
wld love that but I think has become reluctant to show iff his bass tricks..... indeed he has never been a publicist of his mastery IMHO....the best for me IMHO too

Love that all you cats sing well, while playing such sweetly incredible funky mayhem.
Great episode.
This is awesome! Thank you for the excellent content señor Scott!
Great … love your work Henrik ❤
Thaaanks!!! 😊
Linder is just another world of bassist every one must know
💯💯💯
Nice to know how those basslines are written and performed, it:s amazing to understand how those masters think.
Great interview! thank you so much! nice to see and hear Henrik as well hes playing.
🔥😎🤙 Love to hear the influences and look forward to hearing more! Cheers, Daniel
Not only an awesome player but great dude!
It says a lot about an artist when they have to let it sink in for a moment to internalize that there's someone in the studio whose first album she bought with her own pocket money was one of your band. It's the moment you realize that your music, the one thing you put your heart into, has a huge impact even on the youngest out there.
Thanks. I hadn't heard of this guy or Dirty Loops.
Props on the transcription❤
You go girl...without a bass 🎸 !!??
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Yes, totally amazing… 😵💫
Wow. Just wow. Thanks.
Great interview, and a rare chance to understand more about how Henrik comes up with his bass lines. Super humble guy, monster player!
The surprise calls are awesome! I hope you get Hadrien on this format!
Imagine that Henrik is your teacher...
Such a wonderful gift could* be ❤
💯💯💯
