    Hey Geoff.
Thanks for the vid. I have visited many of those 'Aladdin Cave' Landrover sheds in my day! ...
In fact that's where we inherited our beloved Chihuahua Flash all those years ago. She's got the green oval running though her veins.......
Do you remember the legend of Tom Kruse, the famous Birdsville mailman who, legend had it, repaired the clutch in his mail truck by cutting the lid off a 44 gallon drum to use as the pressure plate?
It was dismissed as a bit of a bush legend until the actual vehicle was eventually found and thoroughly inspected, complete with, you guessed it, a 44 gallon drum clutch pressure plate!

Hi Jade. What a awesome story and yes I know of the (Real) Tom Kruse ( AKA the mailman). I have been up his way to Birdsville in the past. Glad your enjoying the vids. Cheers Geoff

Gday Geoff, another great video but one thing you forgot to mention is that some clutch plates (drive plate) only go on one way, the spline through the centre on some stick out one side and is almost flush on the other side.

About to do this myself to my defender as no one in town (Kalgoorlie) will touch it due to buying all the bits myself. As i do not have a standard engine (2.8L TGV), I opted for an up rated clutch. I'm watching as many vids i can, so how hard could it be. Will have some spare used defender 110 parts (R380) if you'd like them as i chose the rich mans path :)

      Hi Nixbizy.
Have you had a chat to the team at Goldfields Off Road? They do a far bit of work on the Land Rover Perentie and I am sure they would be happy to put in a new cluctch for you and they have soft spot for Land Rovers. Just say your a friend of Geoff's and have a chat to Johar and they will take care of you.
      Hope this helps.
      Kind regards, Geoff

Just a quick note always check the flywheel is not magnetic after machining as this will cause the clutch plate to keep spinning with the flywheel when the clutch is disengaged. Yes it can happen and i have experienced this several times over my career as a heavy diesel mechanic during the machining process the flywheel becomes magnetic in some instances so check it and if it is magnetic take it back to the machine shop and they will remedy it.. Great video keep them coming Geoff

    Just one point.
The crankshaft spigot bush is made of sintered bronze, not brass.
    Look it up.
