Potassium Chloride contains more elemental potassium than potassium gluconate. Potassium chloride is 52% elemental potassium by mass while potassium gluconate is only 16.7% elemental potassium by mass. Potassium chloride is also better absorbed and is generally the potassium of choice to replace a potassium deficiency. hellopharmacist.com/questions/comparing-potassium-chloride-to-potassium-gluconate
@@jimiboi87 Potassium Citrate: What's the Difference? Key takeaways: Although they're both potassium supplements, potassium chloride is used to treat or prevent hypokalemia (low potassium levels). Potassium citrate is used to treat or prevent certain types of kidney stones. Research has not shown that any form of potassium is better than the others. Potassium gluconate has a high absorption rate of 94%, making it suitable for "quick" demands such as leg cramps or blood pressure control.

most of us don't consume that much potassium coming from food to make up 4700mg daily. instead of using sodium chloride (regular salt) in food, i use potassium chloride instead. 1 teaspoon of potassium chloride will give me 3000mg of potassium, and the rest of the 2000mg i get it from food. so by the end of the day i get roughly 4000 to 5000mg of potassium daily, and that would meet the daily requirement of 4700mg of potassium.
Potassium chloride is the most common type used to treat deficiency. The recommended daily intake (RDI) for potassium is 4,700 mg. Most supplements come in 90 mg to 99 mg doses of potassium. Higher-dose pills are available, but they usually contain smaller “active” amounts. One gram of potassium citrate provides 9.26 mEq of potassium. One gram of potassium gluconate provides 4.27 mEq of potassium

Vomiting, diarrhea or both also can result in excessive potassium loss from the digestive tract. Occasionally, low potassium is caused by not getting enough potassium in your diet.
