Nah, going to the steward makes the quest so much better, because you are led to believe that the quest is over, only to later discover that it is not and that you arrested the wrong guy. Sadly, I missed this part on my first playthrough, because by the time I did this quest I was a level 80 mage with all the top spells and enchanted gear, and I was already arch mage and had killed Harkon, Alduin and Miraak, so I figured I didn't have to be afraid of some court wizard, necromancer or not. I prefer to get enemies over with from afar, but so far away they don't even know where I am.
Blood On the Ice, the best example of an actual RPG quest with real decisions and consequences in the game...of course it had to be plagued by some of the most gamebreaking bugs in the game as well. It just works.
The Lexicon quest, the “haunted house” in Markarth, the little girl who died and was a ghost and the vampires that were involved, blood on the ice, are some of my favorites
Is that the one with the Charus? I just stumbled across that one the other day on my way to something else. Said “just a lighthouse and I’ll do a quick run through” only to find this hyper involved story with an even larger area I was like “what rabbit hole have I dragged myself into?” I got so many eggs from that one….like, in the 200s I think.
@@JohnnyFromVirginialove that, you're like, this is just a little tower, can't be too hard. Then the interior loads and there's five branching pathways. I've realized this sounds sarcastic, but it's genuinely one of my favorite bits in Skyrim (and equally fallout) just the most unassuming buildings having the most interesting quests/stories involved, and if not that, just some sick ass architecture to look at.
In my most recent play through I joined the forsworn, got the god armour then killed the leader. Turns out you get both rewards and the silver bloods that greet you get murdered too.
That quest frequently pisses me off because for some reason when I escape the blacksmith (both of them) join the fight, get killed and I can no longer trade there anymore. Happened the last 3 playthroughs
I knew about Illia for years. I memorized her location on the map and get her as a companion every time I make a warrior type character as a mage backup. she's mad OP
I think The Man Who Cried Wolf and The Wolf Queen Awakened are probably the some of the best quests in the game. The events of the quests have world-shaking possibilities and it centers around one of the most legendary villains in the history of Tamriel. It's bizarre that it's just a sidequest.
I know it's been 5 years but anyways I did the quest once a while ago and really didn't take much notice. But on a subsecquent playthrough I found and read the bio of Potema and it was so cool and then did the quest and really enjoyed it so much. I think you are a right. Plus the ancient vampire that spawns there in the catacombs is a great dead thrall.
I didn't know about Rise in the East until seeing this video and after looking in Windhelm for 30 minutes I finally found the EITC at the docks and WOW THAT QUEST WAS AWESOME!
The beginning to "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood" when you can kill Astrid, is my favorite. Not sure if it counts as a side quest, but I still love hearing her gasp "well done" when she dies.
Delayed burial is definitely a fun one. Technically, it isn't directly affiliated with any faction quests, but it is fun to see Cicero's reactions to it once you meet with him in the Dark Brotherhood.
I had never actually joined the Dark Brotherhood before seeing people talk about having Cicero as a companion. I only knew him as the guy that a farmer seemed to hate for no apparent reason
I haven’t done loads of side-quests as I’m new to the game, but I really love getting the ring of Hircine with that werewolf dude. It’s especially fun if you are already a werewolf as you can go on a killing spree together, and then get unlimited transformations!
Did you know if you go to the old dark brotherhood sanctuary, you can bring Astrid back to life using dead thrall! Plus, every time you kill her she says thank you!
Another great video Nate! I love this series! As a fun side note, when entering Japhet's Folly Towers for the East Empire Company quest, if you go to the very bottom of the tower, through a locked door you will find a very deceased Japhet, along with his journal telling you how Japhet's Folly came to be, and a treasure chest with some nifty loot in it :)
8:25 The perfect Steward for your house! :v I love the Fort Frostmoth quest, just for the implication that Neloth and his rogue apprentice put a Heart (of Lorkhan) Stone into an Imperial commander, driving the man xenophobically berserk. _They made another Pelinal Whitestrake. In a mushroom. With a pile of scraps!_ Red gem in the chest, half-mad revenant, living in a dreamworld of war. All that's missing is the robotic arm with the man's titular white laser beam.
One of my favorite missions in Skyrim was "A Night To Remember." Just the traipsing around Skyrim trying to figure what in Oblivion you got up to one drunken night. It's also one of the few Daedric Item quests I actually enjoy.
Top 5 sidequests... *looks at main story line, unfinished* "Yeah, I should do these side quests. That sounds more interesting. Screw the main story line. No one really finishes it"
I don't know if the Civil war is considered to be a main quest, but during the invasion of windhelm it bugged.. which meant that for the rest of the game it burned.
I have nearly 1000 hours in the game and haven’t gotten past talking to Paarthy the first time. The side stuff is so much more fun. Plus the VA is atrocious.
I discovered the East Empire Company one on my first playthrough and then couldn't find it for literally years. I had begun to think I'd dreamed about it (not entirely unlikely for me) but nope, it's really there. Something to note about Blood on the Ice - you can tell Wuunferth about the amulet and journals after speaking to Calixto and spare one more life, you won't have to wait for a second person to die - he'll figure it out without you having to go to jail.
I stumbled across that rise in the east quest one time on XBox360 and never knew how to do it again, for the longest time I was convinced that I had imagined it, I'm so glad I found this video to assure me that I'm not just crazy!
I like alot of the quests but I think my favorite has to be Lost to the Ages, Blackreach and the crimson nirnroot, and after the DLC I enjoyed the Snow Elves area to get Auriel's Bow, I just like to go there and explore honestly.
Lost to the Ages, exploration, mystery and three possible rewards that give this quest a lot of replay value. My favorite is the Aetherial Crown, allowing to have the power of two Standing Stones, making very interesting combinations.
Illia is actually someone i go out of my way to recruit, I like to use her as a steward at my steading. The sensation of actually helping someone turn their life around feels remarkably good.
The entire dark brotherhood quest line has to be my favorite ^v^

I've been watching these videos for a while because I love them, I love Skyrim and I've been waiting for a quest that I may have missed (I dedicated a big portion of my life to Skyrim for a hot minute lol). With this video, I finally found it (the East Imperial Trading company one). Thank you!
my fav quest is the one where you get drunk asf and do a lotta dumb shit jus to end u meeting a daedric lord and he gives you the sanguine rose which is overpowered asf early game
I actually don't think the stones of barenziah was a bad quest. For one you can get the stones really quickly by interacting with one several times quickly, thus getting 2 or 3 stones from one location. And the part where you get the crown is actually fun imo because you go through the ruin finding out what happened to caravan and seeing the ghost. Its a fun little mystery in its own right
And even if glitching isn't the thing of the player, then all the locations are listed online, so it's just about writing it down and then go on a hunt for them.
i'm guessing she disappears if you don't use her as a follower before leaving. i've used her as a follower, then sent her on her way, and months later went back to the tower and got her to follow me again.
Man! I've logged hundreds hours of play on multiple characters and different types of play and I've never even heard of the first 3 quests. Done the last two multiple times, but I still can't figure how I've missed those 3 quests. Baffled, yet thankful for this video!

I just gotta say thank you epic Nate . You’re content is entertaining to me but your voice some reason puts me to sleep dawg especially the nights where I can’t sleep, I put on a video of yours n bam! I’m sleep. So thank you honestly
OMG!!! I played the quest in dark light tower one of the first few times I played Skyrim and loved it and could never find it again. I thought I dreamt it. I was so mad that she wouldn’t follow me cuz I already had a follower and just walked away... I could never find her again after that. This has been one of my greatest mysteries for 8 years now!!!! Thank you
I don't think it's even a quest but there's a lighthouse on the northern coast line that has a mystery, I think some people went missing. you end up finding a chorus tunnel system under the lighthouse and the remains of the missing person. If you were reading all the notes you may get the hint that he wanted his remains to be cremated at the lighthouse, if you take them there you are awarded with a permanent restoration bonus listed under "magic: current effects". What I found so great about this is the fact the game never tells you to cremate the remains, it's something hidden there for the lore aficionados and role players.
Hey Nate! Huuuuuuge fan, just wondering have you ever played Skyrim? It's such a great game! Hope you notice me in all these crazy comments! Keep up the great work! #murderedtodeath

Some of my favorite quests in Skyrim: (Not in any orders) 1. The Cursed Tribe I didn't know about this quest at all when I started it. I didn't know it was the Volendrung quest as I never saw that hammer before. But I had an absolute blast with this quest. I let Yamarz try to deal with the giant, and when he got 1 shot, I laughed my ass off. The location was also very unique and interesting. Very fun quest to do. 2. The Unquiet Dead This was a very unique quest. And absolutely horrendously tragic one to boot. I won't spoil it too much as it's probably somewhat new(?), but I really enjoyed this murder mystery. And you get one amazing reward afterwards. 3. The Break of Dawn Yes, I actually like this quest. It's very unique in all aspects. The enemies, the beacons, Dawnbreaker of course one of the best looking weapons in the game, you flying super high in the air, strong 2-phased boss, great money loot, everything. You can't even start the quest whenever you want, you have to find the beacon first and it can be almost anywhere. The only annoying thing about this quest is the hissing light. And super loud Meridia 😅 4. The Blessings of Nature One of the rare quests that actually has a noticable consequences after the quest. Having the Gildergreen bloom and pilgrims coming to look at it, this quest feels very unique and rewarding. 5. The Ebony Warrior Skyrim wouldn't be Skyrim without this quest. To even get it, you must be level 80. Which is an achievement all on its own. Then this badass guy comes to you with his request. It's just so absurd, weird, and epic that it deserves a spot on my favorite quests.
I find it humorous that you've never invaded Japhet's Folly until more recently; but also that Blood on Thin Ice ... My biggest issue with that quest has always been dealing with the Amulet & getting it named properly (And able to be removed from your inventory) if you don't do the quest *In one particular way* that is totally *NOT* immediately obvious. Highly recommend creating various save files if you don't know what you're doing with it.

I personally enjoy the quest where you go up a really tall mountain and kill a big black dragon.... Alduin was his name I think? Best side quest for sure. But it doesn't hold a candle to the main quest... the thieves guild of course!
You’re not funny bro
@@connorshatz3183 no it is funny
@@JustASkyrimHorse so you’re telling me you read that and giggled

A Night to Remember, the one where you get drunk and get Sanguine Rose staff!
It wasn't a side quest, it was a daedric quest.
You can easily tell by the reward which is a daedra artifact.
@@justinchristy9047 my favorite artifact in the whole game. I use it really often
@@babygurleatsshickennuggits4201 A powerful artifact but the downside is you won't increase your conjugation, if you only use the sanguine rose. But it is really powerful for sure.
@@justinchristy9047 it doesn't bother me since I only use it currently for a flame thing when I see that a frost troll is near. I prefer to either sneak away or run because they don't drop anything I like. If the cheat tgm didn't exist there's absolutely no way I would've been able to get that artifact. Since I can actually cast the artifact from far away it alerts me of where everything I need to fight with is, as well as if it uses any shouts. I prefer to get enemies over with from afar, but so far away they don't even know where I am.
I'm early so I'll make a joke
*Nate not saying murdered to death in a video*
Don't even joke like that
That's not funny that's horrifying
No he says it at 6:43
That's almost as bad as "People die when they are killed." :P
reminds me of a VERY old "Popeye" comic strip i saw in a book, where someone said Wimpy "should be killed to death"!
Blood On the Ice, the best example of an actual RPG quest with real decisions and consequences in the game...of course it had to be plagued by some of the most gamebreaking bugs in the game as well. It just works.

Ooooh have you seen the one next to Lakeview Manor?
The Lover stone. I laughed when I realized what it was.
We need this Nate
The Lexicon quest, the “haunted house” in Markarth, the little girl who died and was a ghost and the vampires that were involved, blood on the ice, are some of my favorites
Most memorable for me is the side quest at Frostflow Lighthouse. I liked the story behind it.
What about the fornsworn conspiracy?
That was a great one. That alongside the house with the Vigilant of Stendarr are the only things that make Markarth bearable
One of my favorite quests.
In my most recent play through I joined the forsworn, got the god armour then killed the leader. Turns out you get both rewards and the silver bloods that greet you get murdered too.
Soviet Bush Your a conspiracy!......Yeah,....I won that exchange.
That quest frequently pisses me off because for some reason when I escape the blacksmith (both of them) join the fight, get killed and I can no longer trade there anymore. Happened the last 3 playthroughs
As weird as it might sound, I actually accidentally stumbled across *"Rise in the East"*

The Abandoned house in Markarth is an interesting quest as well, since you can acquire a really powerful mace, The mace of Malog Bal.
since it's bugged you can train enchanting on it by just continually recharging it even though it already has full charge lol

She DID say someone in the room had to die...
Murdered to death is not getting old is it?
Murdered to aliven't

I hope not! :(

"No Stone Unturned" and "A Return To Your Roots" are the best side-quests tbh.
No they suck
They make my soul die
I just learned I have the wrong man in jail with the last one...

My favorite mission is the one with the atherial shards. The name of the quest eludes me, but that is without a doubt the best side quest in the game.
Ray Zaffarese........the reward is the business as well
Lost to the ages is the name of the quest and absolutely agree
You should do the aethirum shard quest. That's my favorite. I like the fact that you have a ghost follower and that your diveing through dwemer ruins
If you do this, I recommend getting the follower Remiel as a mod
Did you know if you go to the old dark brotherhood sanctuary, you can bring Astrid back to life using dead thrall! Plus, every time you kill her she says thank you!
Never knew that! Thanx!
"major civil war"-- 20 dudes slapping another 20 dudes with paddle shaped swords 😉
I have never done the quest with Illia until recently and now she's my favorite follower
I love the Fort Frostmoth quest, just for the implication that Neloth and his rogue apprentice put a Heart (of Lorkhan) Stone into an Imperial commander, driving the man xenophobically berserk. _They made another Pelinal Whitestrake. In a mushroom. With a pile of scraps!_
Red gem in the chest, half-mad revenant, living in a dreamworld of war.
*looks at main story line, unfinished*
"Yeah, I should do these side quests.
Honestly I just do it for the shout call of valor
Of you do a part 2 you should definitely mention Lost to the Ages. One of my all time favorite Elder Scrolls quests. Ghost waifu for life!
9:35 the most chill sacrifice. Looks like he's getting a haircut lmao

I wonder if anyone else made it out alive.
I commented to bring you back to Skyrim, you cannot escape.
@@Spells_Val Haha. But Sims 4 and Pokémon helped me escape.
I like alot of the quests but I think my favorite has to be Lost to the Ages, Blackreach and the crimson nirnroot, and after the DLC I enjoyed the Snow Elves area to get Auriel's Bow, I just like to go there and explore honestly.
Putting Potema to her well earned rest was my favourite!
Yoo that quest was sick, sad that nobody is talking about it
Lost to the Ages, exploration, mystery and three possible rewards that give this quest a lot of replay value. My favorite is the Aetherial Crown, allowing to have the power of two Standing Stones, making very interesting combinations.
Illia is actually someone i go out of my way to recruit, I like to use her as a steward at my steading. The sensation of actually helping someone turn their life around feels remarkably good.

The entire dark brotherhood quest line has to be my favorite ^v^

my fav quest is the one where you get drunk asf and do a lotta dumb shit jus to end u meeting a daedric lord and he gives you the sanguine rose which is overpowered asf early game
The Markarth Prison Stint is definitely among my favorites 😁 !
Its a fun little mystery in its own right
And the reward is really good
And even if glitching isn't the thing of the player, then all the locations are listed online, so it's just about writing it down and then go on a hunt for them.
Tbh if only there were multiple ones at the same location normally. Or like if the guild had 5 or something already.
I just got a mod that gave each stone a quest marker soooo much easier
Spook 1918 that works too if you have mods, but sadly I only have the xbox 360 and cant get mods :(
You forgot to mention that Illia can be your allie but if you leave her you won't be able to find her again.
The first time I allied with Illia I sacrificed her to Boethia...

i'm guessing she disappears if you don't use her as a follower before leaving. i've used her as a follower, then sent her on her way, and months later went back to the tower and got her to follow me again.
I positively adored Deathbrand because it's just a good old-fashioned pirate treasure hunt. It even has a map with X's that mark the spots!

Some of my favorite quests in Skyrim:
(Not in any orders)
1. The Cursed Tribe
I didn't know about this quest at all when I started it. I didn't know it was the Volendrung quest as I never saw that hammer before. But I had an absolute blast with this quest. I let Yamarz try to deal with the giant, and when he got 1 shot, I laughed my ass off. The location was also very unique and interesting. Very fun quest to do.
2. The Unquiet Dead
This was a very unique quest. And absolutely horrendously tragic one to boot. I won't spoil it too much as it's probably somewhat new(?), but I really enjoyed this murder mystery. And you get one amazing reward afterwards.
3. The Break of Dawn
Yes, I actually like this quest. And super loud Meridia 😅
4. The Blessings of Nature
One of the rare quests that actually has a noticable consequences after the quest. Having the Gildergreen bloom and pilgrims coming to look at it, this quest feels very unique and rewarding.
5. The Ebony Warrior
Skyrim wouldn't be Skyrim without this quest.
