- A man falls for his mailwoman.
INBOX is used with permission from B. Welby-Delimere. Learn more at b-welbydelimer....
Tom is an agoraphobic man who lives through his phone, which lets him do his shopping and even "date" via apps... though he never can quite bring himself to leave the house to go on these dates. His agoraphobia is just too strong.
But when an attractive postal service delivery accidentally hits his "package" with the package she's tasked to deliver, they embark on a curious and odd exchange through his door's mail delivery slot. The postal worker has her own quirks and phobias, but somehow, the two manage to strike up a connection. But will Tom be able to follow through on this romantic spark?
Written and directed by B. Welby, this charming, offbeat romantic comedy short captures the unusual start of a love affair between two equally unusual people. Told with great wit and a generous spirit, it offers hope that, no matter what one's foibles are, there's a chance at love and connection for anyone, if both are brave enough to push beyond their comfort zones just a little.
Tom sleeps, breathes and lives via his smartphone. But through a quirky and quirky character intro, we see his great anxiety at the thought of going out into the world. The rest of the film proceeds at a brisk tempo, with sharp camerawork and editing keeping the action apace and bringing the endearing script to life.
But the film slows down when the postal delivery worker enters the scene. She has a somewhat crippling hangup of her own -- she is so shy that she can't bring herself to speak -- and the film builds up her and Tom's connection with a palpable sweetness. At first, the connection is built through kindness and humor. But as both feel increasingly comfortable with one another, they move beyond their hangups.
Actors Rory Fleck Byrne and Charlie Murphy play the pair with a keen sense of comic timing, and both have a relatability that makes them easy to root for. They don't shed their phobias, exactly, but see beyond them to the funny, warm people they are. And though a door separates them, they're able to light a spark that leads to something more.
Gently unique in concept and deftly executed, INBOX is a well-balanced romance that is sweet without being cloying and charming without being glib. It works beautifully because it accepts its characters as they are, imperfections and all. Neither character "overcomes" their obstacle, but they both manage to intrigue and connect anyway. Romantic comedy can be a genre where films lean on irony and edge to feel contemporary. But even with its characters' foibles, INBOX leans on sincerity, and aligns with the genre's most classic message: with a bit of courage, anyone can love and be loved for who they are, warts and all.
Omeleto -- of all the wonderful films you bring us, I think my favorites are those in which gentle humans subtly show us how much courage daily life can demand. When these sweet souls triumph, my heart sings! Thank you.
Highly agreeable...

@@susanzoeckler4926 Bless you & yours...always ♥️
@@TunTuni25 And abundant blessings back to you! We are all in this together. 💜
As funny and endearing as this was, social anxiety and agoraphobia are real mental health diseases that are treatable with patience & understanding. 👫
its all in the mind
@@EpicBunty God bless you you are awake!!!!
It's all in the head. Get out of your head and thoughts.
No patience or understanding found here.
@@wd4440 It really is. You create your own personal hell or heaven, depending on what you yourself are thinking. Of course, there are external events such as news that will affect your thoughts but hey - you can always just NOT read the news and realize that ignorance is bliss :D
Once you just walk outside of your house or apartment, you see the world clearly for what it really is. By taking control of your own emotions and thoughts, and staying in the present, you get a better hold of the world and people around you.
Just think about different people you've met throughout your life. How they looked, how they talked, how they dressed etc. The difference between all these people and how well they are doing is their outlook and perspective on life, and what's going on inside their own heads. Thus, you should aim to become those you look up to and admire in life.
Being a socially anxious person this was really relatable to me, and this short story was so cute and wholesome
I'm a chronic anxious too. Life's getting harder every day. I'm constantly running into my utopia worlds in my mind. There is nothing interesting out there for me.
@@fatihkan2601 I can understand your pain, and I mean it, I have same problem even being in my house and having a normal day gives me anxiety now. But let me tell you you hold on there you're much stronger
@lover💖🐾I had according to me most challenging job as I have social anxiety, I used to work as a teacher in school, meeting 50 to 100 people every day, presenting myself and completing my work was a challenge in itself, but i look that as a good opportunity to develop myself and will continue it maybe. I also was, infact am still like this, but I tell myself you are stronger than this, and conquered one day at a time. So you need to stay strong just like you do now and to tell yourself it's going to be fine
Thank God! For Instacart or this dude be famished
Those moments starting at 5:57 were just astonishing. Separated, yet connecting... and while he's got fantastic eyes, she's just too pretty in that framing, and with the subtle changes as she smiles though we can't see her mouth, it's perfect.
My Gawd what beautiful eyes!
I get the impression he is surrounded by mail he is sending himself, just so he can see her again. So yes, I’d say he sent the package.
Yes but how does he get to the post office
@@resolecca 😳🤔 I wonder the same
@@resolecca Well, I’m unsure of how this works with people whose mailbox is their door, but here, our mailboxes have little red flags you put up for “outgoing” mail. Maybe there is something similar on the door? I mean, where I’m at, mailwomen/men don’t hand deliver anything on foot, so this whole thing is kind of alien to me anyways. Either way, a really cute video.
@@resolecca ... Exactly ... he would need to go to the post office to post the parcel and pay for the postage, so although a very sweet film its rather silly.
@@michaelsutherland6652 yes I thought of that too but since she she is the mailman she would be the one picking up the mail, and she would know he is sending the packages to himself.
Not to mention since his agoraphobia won't let him open the door and the package is still too big to fit through the slot, ill say it again how is he sending the packages?
I am short of words. This is one of the beautiful short films I have ever seen.
Her eyes are gorgeous
"Donald trumps out there" 🤣😄😂
Good short story, but he starts out with paranoid symptoms thinking something unlikely will happen if he goes outside. Being an agoraphobic is hard, especially if you are isolated and have no one to help you out
If these two goofs ever manage to hook up, things will remain awkward for a long, long time.
Good short, nicely done, kudos!
It'd take centuries for them to finally hook up.
Technically, postal delivery workers aren't supposed to get involved with the people they deliver to... for obvious reasons. And, unfortunately or not, it is enforced.
@@johnbowman1076 you like making 💩 up?
@@johnbowman1076 That's funny because.. I don't know how things go in other countries but in France it's quite often that everyone knows the postman (or postwoman, who cares) by their name or even are friend with. They stay to chat a little bit with old people, they play with the kids or the dogs. It's a tradition that is a bit lost in the big cities but very common in small town. It's even something that is pretty much required, to have a good contact with people to be postman.
(Talking about postal service like the main one in France called La Poste. Not Amazon, USPS, Fedex and others because for these ones... It's usually a different delivery guy each time so, no time to form any bond)
Which leads me to that question : What are the obvious reasons that would make this "postal delivery workers aren't supposed to get involved with the people they deliver to" rule ?
@@Zondersuikers In the US we often know our Letter carriers by first name and people have had their lives saved when they noticed that there was a problem.
Simple and short yet so profound ! Loved it!
This is one of the most beautiful short films I've seen in a while!!
That was the cutest wholesome meetcute I've ever seen! Loved it! 💜🙌
I don't have social anxiety or agoraphobia. But I relate when he was looking out of the door mail slot, for one; as someone who normally avoids social interactions. Anyways, I wish the video was longer. Great love story of sorts.
There's something beautiful about these movies.
That's the sweetest thing I've seen in quite awhile.
This is great. So many qualities of You've Got Mail and Sleepless in Seattle. Thank you for this - loved it
"Donald Trump's out there."
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm a recluse and have trouble going out, but most of the time I feel better after actually going out.
A True Love story WELL DONE... With perfection!
I loved this. The moment of eye contact through the mailbox was fantastic.
This was so sweet and the acting was fabulous.
As a mail carrier, I find this view of the mail slot very interesting. A way to connect two worlds.
"Donald Trump's out there." Thinking that would keep many people in their house.
As they should.
👍🤣🤣
And that's how we like it: the happy Republicans living life outside while the socially awkward Lefties stay inside and mail their ballots in
😂😂😂👍

Absolutely charming. Well done all!
That was beautifully done. 💙✨💙
Hugs to everyone involved!
This was heartwarming.
I doubt Machiavelli would say that...

She's so so cute
this is a well written film, the characters is amazing and that endings is soo good. that last package is too big to fit in the mail box. he must open the door (for her). :))
This is funny, but sweet. They're so cute! Love this love story.
She's super cute.
If only this were the case irl, eh? You're giving recluses too much hope. XD
Damn, I couldn't stop smiling thru the whole thing!!!! Then frowned cuz it was over! LOVE IT!
I got simmilar thing i was even stressed to answer the phone from unknown and known numbers like my more distant family.

Is was so relatable, heart breaking , heart warming .Thankyou for this
“donald trump’s out there” 😂
That was hilarious!
1:13 mood
I also suffer from social anxiety and this is very important 😫
In the end I’d like to think they make it passed Theadore’s broken…. 💘
I feel like when covid happened AKA bestop Society a lot of people became anxious and could even go back to work because the fact that they were scared to go back outside and fear that they might end up like many friends or family members so definitely this is relatable as much as many people even before covid felt scared of the Norm of society which makes this even more relevant which I definitely want to recommend two more people as this is gold
I tried this with my postwoman and now I don't get bills any more 😁
😂
😂
donald trumps out there lmfao best line ever
My thoughts exactly 💯 agree 😊
with a bit of courage, anyone can love and be loved for who they are, warts and all. Love from Indonesia
Me just waiting for my package to be delivered next door, watching out the window
0:57 nope, trumps outside? Seriously?!
Reminiscent of Who Am I This Time?, starring Christopher Walken and Susan Sarandon.
What if the mailwoman was a chubby, middle-aged balding woman with long chin hair one could plait? LOL
That frame of her through the mailbox was really well done.
This one made cry ... so sweet
Goddamn this was beautiful
Painful to watch. I can totally identify with him, especially around women I'm attracted to.
Interesting how, when they first see each other through the mail slot, his pupils dilate and hers stay very small..
Yeah, she should have thought of something or they should have done something for the actress to make her pupils dilate.
@@esotericfaeryy but that's the point. He had a thing for her. She was just doing her job.
I always enjoy when you post a new update. Bravo as always…
Have a nice day ☺️ Liz
He kinda reminds me of Charlie Puth. Curly hair. Cute smile.
It’s so cute 😭😭😭
This is my partner but about germs. I had some of it sorted but then COVID came and undid all of my hard work
There is a really good Elliot Gould 70s movie where he wouldnt leave his apartment until the end of the movie when he was evicted
This is super cute.
That girl is so pretty and beautiful. I could have broke all the doors just to see her in stunning eyes
He is remind me of Matthew Mcconaughey!
I love it! And you!
Magnifico!!! Greta movie, thank you!
I know plenty of older men that never want to go home.
This was really heart-felt. And I may or may not be talking from personal experience, but for people like this, their lives are usually just like these shorts, - an Open Ending. (Of scary/unpredictable possibilities) 🌌
Fav Charlie Murphy ❤️
I remember these two, they are both in the same movie, The foreigner. She played as Sara Mckay and he's Mr. Hennesy's nephew.
Good one as always.
If the glove don't fit, you must acquit.
LOL How did he send the package? Love the short. ❤
that is a good question because he cannot even open the door?
You can schedule have pickup like fedex does…. I also do not like to leave my house.
You can schedule have pickup like fedex does…. I also do not like to leave my house.
Just ... open the door.
Cracking positive depiction of men.
Sometimes you can tell the nationality of an actor when he opens his mouth to smile.
Absolutely loved this short but was confused by the ending. If he doesn't leave the house, who's taking the package out to get mailed back to him? That's a little too big of a logistical gap to leave up to the audience. It doesn't make enough sense to get 100% satisfaction from the ending...js🤷🏾♀️
Really lovely short, well acted.
Damn, would love to see the outcome ;-)
Nicely done. 👍😊
Dude, call someone right now and get that door fixed so you can open it!
"Donald Trump's out there"
Hilarious!
He looks like Jack Harlow!
Thank God! For Instacart or this dude be famished
What a beautiful short 💙🌈🌎
Loved it, but 1 question. How do you send a pakkage to yourself without leaving the house?
Yes. A two way street he wouldn't be willing to cross. For that matter, how does he receive his groceries. I know that agoraphobic people won't leave their houses but I didn't know they won't even open their doors.
@@tribulationprepper787 That's not agoraphobia. His fears were so silly. He's just plain weird.
@@cahidijoyoraharjo7833 There was a TV show a few years back about a lawyer who had an older brother who behaved kind of like the young man in this video. The older brother had even lined his house walls and ceilings with aluminum foil. The older brother was was also a lawyer who had just gone over the edge. I guess you are correct. There are just plain "weird" people in this world.
@@tribulationprepper787 Are you talking about Better Call Saul? That's an absolute masterpiece of a series.
@@manavnayyar That's the show. I think that it lasted only two or three seasons. I was sorry to see it go.
All of this falls apart when it turns out he is sending items to himself. He can't open the door so how does he get the package outside to be picked up and delivered. Not happening. Does he eat food? How does that get delivered?
Call Uber
How did he get the package to the post office?
That's just one of those mysteries I guess we'll never know the answer to.
Uber 🤪
This is me 😭
I WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So beautiful ♥️
Video is great 👏👏
Nice one!
How did he post parcels to himself when he cannot open the door, engage in face to face with anyone? That being the case, how did he have Internet to book sending the parcels, etc etc.. cute story just not getting it.
May be during the night he comes out🤔 🤔
He calls in a package pick up ,leaves it on the porch ,they come and pick it up. Requires they not notice the address and just take it back and she picks it up, because it's her route.
@@likearockcm he still has to open the door and as we could see from his trying to go out he couldn't open the door. Goodness knows how he makes a living or affords a phone or Internet in order to arrange collections or deliveries.
Don't take it so literally.
@@shauntreadwell8029 my guess is he inherited the house and money. He couldn't bring himself to open the door because of having to meet with the girl and be face to face with the mail woman. He had to open the door at some point to collect groceries, etc.
