Just another video on how I replaced the rear brake pads & rotors on a 2014 Mini Cooper.
This really wasn't a difficult job once we had the correct parts. This vehicle was manufactured in March of 2014, the manual in the glove box says 2014, the title says 2014, and the Vin decoder online says that it was a 2014 Model. The local parts stores had a hard time finding the correct brake pads and sensors for this vehicle because they said it's probably not a 2014 model. We were able to finally find the ones we needed by looking up the parts for a 2015.
    Tools needed:
    14mm wrench and/or socket
17mm Thin profile open end wrench
    E14 Reverse Torx socket
6mm allen wrench or hex key
    10mm socket
    large flatblade screwdriver
    torque wrench
    Caliper wind back compression tool
    Brake grease
    Wire brush
    Brake cleaner
Torque specs that I found online:
19 ft. lbs for the small allen bolt that attaches the rotor
48 ft. lbs for the larger caliper bracket bolts
25 ft. lbs for the caliper slide pin bolts
Here is a link to the video for the front brake pads & rotors on this same vehicle:

2 stores sent me wrong pads and wrong sensors. Be careful, their online systems thinks that the 2014 Mini Cooper (S or base) is a prior generation 2 and not the F56 generation 3 car. You can easily fix this by changing the year to 2017 when entering your car on their website (online stores like Advance Auto, FCP, ECS, etc) which causes their systems to recommend the right parts.
Dont ask me how much time I wasted returning parts for my 2014 Cooper S in order to figure this out.

From looking around what I can find is that the caliper mounting bracket bolts are one time use stretch bolts (the reverse torx bolts) and the spec I've seen is 22 ft/lbs initial torque followed by tightening a further 90 degrees so you really shouldn't be reusing those bolts.

Fantastic video Dan. By far the best one I've found to view before changing the rear pads and rotors on our 2015 F56.

Dan, great video. I searched the ends of the internet to finally find a good video on replacing the rear rotors. I have a 2015 Mini Cooper and my components also match what you have in the video. Maybe Mini just started using some new parts in 2014.

Hi, I’ve seen on another video you have to remove the parking brake spring. Is this not the case? Thanks

No need on this one, as long as the parking brake is off you should be able to remove the caliper and wind back the piston.
      Thanks for watching!
