I agree 100%. I rewatched Ghostbusters 2 a few months back and it never dawned on me until all these years later how bad the film was compared to the first one. Bill Murray must've sensed the second one was going to be bad, hence why he didn't want to do it ... and why he wants no part of a third one. With Harold Remis unfortunately deceased, I definitely don't see that one happening now.
The manner and wording of Ray's cease and desist order is the only reason Gozer interacted with the team before the "choosing of form" phase. Gozer is unfamiliar with our world and for a moment Ray's manner, words, and intent seemed legit. For a moment Gozer was interested. Ray calls it by one of it's Names and one of it's Titles to show familiarity with Gozer as a God-like entity. "Gozer the Gozerian." He follows with a casual statement among peers. "Good evening." Ray offers his own credentials. "As a duly designated representative of the city, county and state of New York," Adds to that an order. "I order you to cease any and all supernatural activity and return forthwith to your place of origin" And concludes by giving an option that suggests multi-dimensional experience. " or to the nearest convenient parallel dimension." After discovering Ray is not a God, Gozer is bored again. The excitement wanes.
I think Gozer is one of the most underrated villains in cinema history, she was the one who brought all of those ghosts to New York, she tortured the Ghostbusters after them asking her to leave, turned Dana into a hell hound and pretty much made them choose who would kill them and she looks bad ass, why isn't she seen as one of the most sadistic villains of all time, ik she isn't used until the end, but the build up to her/it almost lasted the entire movie

Ray's speech to Gozer was excellent. I mean, you're talking to an interdimensional being that came and brought down ravages unto humanity in the past and was mistaken/worshipped as a God. How exactly do you address it? Well, he first greets it politely, then identifies under what authority he comes forward to make a request, then he makes his request clear and concise and even offers the alternative of returning to the nearest convenient parallel dimension. I can't think of any better way to approach a powerful being like Gozer. As for the "are you a God?" part, saying yes would not have helped. Do you seriously think Gozer's next line would be "oh, you're a God? Ok let me go back to where I came from"?

Amazing Spiderman Fan 2002 There is no plot. Nothing happens for any kind of reason and we’re never given any explanations for the events that take place. Stuff happens because.. Reasons. Ray's speech to Gozer was excellent. I mean, you're talking to an interdimensional being that came and brought down ravages unto humanity in the past and was mistaken/worshipped as a God. How exactly do you address it? Well, he first greets it politely, then identifies under what authority he comes forward to make a request, then he makes his request clear and concise and even offers the alternative of returning to the nearest convenient parallel dimension. I can't think of any better way to approach a powerful being like Gozer. As for the "are you a God?" part, saying yes would not have helped. Do you seriously think Gozer's next line would be "oh, you're a God? Ok let me go back to where I came from"?
When Ray greets Gozer with, “Good Evening”, make he laugh hysterically.
