Hey Ryan, quick question - any chance you could hook us up with a tutorial on using Hollywood Fantasy Orchestrator in metal context? We're gearing up for our next single (symphonic metal band), and I've got a feeling RPG Expansion Pack would be killer for it!
@@rubin_bassHonestly, the easiest way to do that is when composing the track, when the guitar goes to a high frequency (solos, melodies etc.), the orchestra goes mid or even low. And when the guitars are in mid (like playing rhythm) then the orchestra plays in the higher register. That's atleast how I do it, and it keeps the mix from getting muddled and every instrument sounds clear and not like they're fighting for their place in the audio spectrum.
These are soectacular! One suggestion: if you could add preset suggested playing styles (simple triads left hand, melody on right; closed triad; cluster notes, etc.) on the OPUS display window. Or if suggested playing styles description for the presets where avaiable on for download?

I began using EAST WEST before the Composer Cloud, scoring a Feature Film that had Academy Award winning actors in it. Now I am on Composer Cloud and completely satisfied. My question is....will you be coming out soon with some new works using the Hollywood Strings 2. i am very eager for it to be released on the 25th, and just as eager to hear your tutorials. Still have MANY of your films to go, but each one has something in it which I am able to use to make my output more efficient, and most importantly, better sounding that ever. Thanks. This is great for a beginner like me to learn patches, sequences and just all around not get intimidated by a blank score, thank you! Is it possible to incorporate some kind of note taking system? for example, the Boss Fight 5 (4-4) you said was great for close keys. It would be awesome to add some kind of sticky note next to the preset to remember. Right now I'm just using google docs or excel sheets
the only problem i felt with the orchestrator is that the phrases are somewhat limited to a few bars. in order to make longer and more complex cue you have to use more preset/instances, which becomes difficult to handle. The rhythm of the "scores" becomes quite boring after a short time even if you change the chords. the orchestrator seems great to make 20-30 seconds cues, this demo shows it in a great way, but i feel it's not suited for longer or complex compositions. what do i miss??
Utilizing any ostinato pattern, even through chord changes, does eventually get monotonous (but it would do that if you were to write each part out yourself as well without more variance). It's a good starting point for an orchestrated ensemble sound and then you can either switch to additional presets or expound upon the created one yourself
You will. Unless you are copying exactly how Ryan is playing these presets, the way you play the presets will completely change them. Keep in mind, you can also change any aspect of these presets: the instrumentation, the melody, the voicings. Think of them more as starting points to new presets and compositions!

Sounds good but I'm afraid it get more and more generic so I'm happy I'm still compose my own unique melodys.
