i love listening to this piece, the beautiful arpeggios, the gorgeous melody, the deep feeling as the notes strike you in the heart. thanks for the amazing videos you continue to send out to us!
@@shoemannclara more than 40 hours is too much of a wait for him to return (I'm joking I know he has a life but mate no need to be so toxic about a funny comment)
How do you even compose something this complex... Debussy was literally a genius Also just noticed you're almost at 100K subs, keep up the beautiful playing 🎵
@@alistairproductions maybe just the fact that more contemporary music of that time is sort of ignored more. Earlier romantic sort of outshines it unfortunately. Although it is not necessarily uncommon
Thanks for this! Best pianist on YT, if he doesn’t put all he has into going pro he will regret it when he’s older. I want whole albums on Spotify and concert dates. I will pay for concert tickets. His timing and taste are really elite level, I prefer his style to Lang Lang, who I also like a lot.
Speaking of the world needing something or maybe someone, esp in classical music, along comes Debussy and he fitted perfectly in the 'gilded age' as Picasso did in the art world! The world was more than ready for these 2 impressionists! Music rooms and salons, couldn't get enough of Debussy! Thanx for including him among your listing! ❤
I’m fairly new to piano and the world of classical music so to see you do commentary on this piece while hearing it played is really cool for me! So amazing how you picked up that pattern on the ending, thank you for sharing that with us! Now the ending of Debussy’s Arabesque will have twice the sparkle haha.
I remembered when my mom was playing this on the piano,,,, brings back a lot of sweet memories with my family… thank you. I always thought this was the most melodically sounding Debussy ever composed
Most interpretations of Debussy's music are rushed. I'm so grateful for your interpretation of it here, which is similar to my own so that I can use this video to listen to and immerse myself in this piece to better learn it. Thank you!
Because of the way you played the first few opening bars, your tempo, your emotional expression… it just made me smile immediately, as if you “got” the emotionality of the piece exactly as I was looking for it to be expressed. I rarely have a reaction like that, especially in the first few seconds. So, for that reason, subscribed. 100%. Beautiful job.🙂
I just discovered your channel yesterday, and I'm already hooked. Please do lots of Liszt and Schubert going forward, and I'll never get tired of Chopin, Beethoven and Debussy. ❤
Magic, indeed. Thank you for the fine performance, analysis, comments, and most of all, communicating the WONDER of this music! Lately I’ve been on a bit of a French kick: Debussy, Satie, Saint-Saens, Poulenc, Ravel. They all made unique and truly extraordinary contributions to the art, especially via the piano. Vivre!
I hadn't listened to this piece until last week surprisingly, since I have listened to vast amounts of classical music already. It's such a beautiful piece! I really love how calm debussy's pieces are. You played it very beautifully!
i recommend putting the caption on the bottom, then we can see you play the piano and read the caption at the same time (i apologize in advance if i have made any grammatical mistakes, since i do not speak natively)
Yes, very pretty piece. I learned this piece in high school (2003-2006), and I still have it memorized. I never knew that genius little bit at that end that you shared, about the last line and first line lining up very closely, which was like solving a puzzle. Yes, classical music is so amazing like that.
Last year when I was in grade 8 piano, my piano teacher gave me a challenge to play this piece lol I struggled so much but I managed it and can play it memorized and like this video above, just a bit faster
I literally found your channel tonight..saw your Chopin Ballade No. One...sorry, numbers aren't working on my keyboard....Anyway, I loooove Chopin and was interested inhearing your interpretation. And am now in the process of checking out some others from you. I like your commentary as well, provides some explanation of what's happening, helps me understand a little better.
WHY is it only possible to give ONE thumbs-up! This video deserves One THOUSAND! If this is what you're like when you're sick, I can't imagine what you're like when you're well (oh, wait. Moonlight Sonata Third Movement. I guess I DO know what you're like when you're well!🤣) Thank you for uploading this. My part of Canada is getting a heat wave and the beautiful, flowing notes of Arabesque No. 1 are like a cool stream! Feel better soon.
I love this piece, my piano arrives in 3 days (I’m very excited) and for the first time in 3 years I’ll be able to play consistently again. This piece is one of the first on my list to learn, and hearing it played so beautifully was very inspiring. Thank you
Can’t believe how small this channel is. There is so much hard work put into each video. Can I suggest Chopin etude op.10 n.1 for your next video like this
I would like to thank you for making this video less entertaining but more informative (even though your joke on school choir made me laugh 😂) It's so much more interesting in my opinion and really makes me want to click on your vids ! Same went for the video on Moonlight Sonata 3rd movement or the two love pieces you composed Anyway, i hope you are having fun making more serious videos like this ! (If not don't force yourself) I'll keep watching with pleasure, have a good day :)
Oh man, that's one of my favourite piece by Debussy, absolutely gorgeous! 😍 As usual, great commentary. And I really like the post-credit scene, it's a very good idea to explain a passage a little bit deeper than during the playing itself, it would be great to have this segment in future videos. (Also, the text next to the sheet music is better in my opinion, you should keep it that way.) Until the next time, happy practicing! 😊👍

Its crazy how Debussy put so much thought in this beautiful piece of music. Great video as always!
This was my first Debussy I learned. He is my favorite composer…beautifully done!
2:51 I was literally just thinking it reminded me of a hymn you’d hear at church when you put that it’s written to sound like that!

Think he's underrated? I only found him when I was looking for classical sleep music
@@alistairproductions maybe just the fact that more contemporary music of that time is sort of ignored more. Earlier romantic sort of outshines it unfortunately. Although it is not necessarily uncommon
its not as hard as you think I played it
Think and hum the melodies, and then improvise from there. Idk, I don't know music theory or how to play instruments
Debussy's pieces are so whimsical and wholesome! If heaven had a playlist, it should be filled with Debussy. And you captured it so beautifully! S2
That's so true, I always felt like this piece was representative of the gates of heaven opening
I love many classical pieces and this is once of my favorite pieces. As an amateur pianist I wish to play this piece someday :)
you can do it!!! i believe in you :)))

Tyy and yes I do practice 40 hours a day B)
I am an amateur too and this piece is not that hard ! I practice everyday

It just shows how determined you are that even though you are not feeling well you are willing to record such a beautiful piece for us to enjoy!
Memorizing this now trying to get pass the polyrhythm. Your explanation made me love the piece more
After the polyrhythm i got stuck in line 32 due to my lack of experience. :(
Ooooh we getting some Debussy now!! I feel like the way he writes watery/flowing music is absolutely genius, and you expressed it so well! :D
I could listen to this piece for hours
4:08-4:20 The arpeggios here with the right hand A, G, F notes is one of the most beautiful sequences I've ever heard!
I love the Arabesque suite. Such a masterpiece, and you play it so beautifully, friend.

Amazing how he can thoroughly enjoy his own music,,, just being one with his instrument ❤

I never really properly listened to this piece but your rendition is absolutely beautiful to listen to, I really felt the emotions in this piece.

One of my favourite pieces played by my favourite pianist on yt
Really glad I stumbled upon this! You do this piece justice with your performance! Thank you for posting!
That was lovely. Really well played. Enjoyed the crescendos contrasting with the softer delicate passages and marcato melody.
