The music kind of reminds me of Faster Than Light's soundtrack and I'm all for it. This would've totally flown under my radar too had I not seen this, thanks Drifter! :)
Some corrections: enemies also have cards, however it's a LOT less cards as they do rotate through their action deck, however, just like you mentioned, they use a charge-up system instead of the Tri-resource the player uses. Also, the resources generally are: Ordnance for Offensive cards, Energy for Support cards and Mass for Defense cards.
Played the demo and enjoyed the mechanics, but I think the visuals could use a lot more variety. I only played it for a few hours but by that time I already wasn't looking at anything but the UI anymore. As long as the scenes are as static and the different attack effects as similar as in the demo I feel like the resources to make this all 3D with so many effects might have been misspent. Maybe an orbiting type of camera that can change shots to show missiles arriving or other changes in perspective might do wonders for that, especially since the actual models are really nice. Of course, maybe it's just that the demo didn't allow us to see the more interesting stuff, so I'm not trying to be a downer, just wanted to share the thought.
I know you don’t have all the info about the game and when it releases so I’d live it if you made a review on the game when it releases. I’m interested in the game but still want to see what i’ll be getting for my money
Got it in the first 3 minutes. UA-cam must live you because it shut off and restarted in the middle of a video just to put this on the top of my watch list.
I know he said he doesnt have a lot of experience with roguelikes but drifter bejng uncomfortable with how vulnerable the standard roguelike mechanics make him is kinda funny cuz A. Thats the whole point of roguelikes, and B. Drifter really suffering from Xcom trauma. I assure you, most roguelikes are more polished than the firaxis xcom games
Seems pretty solid for a rogue like, permanent iron man mode is the entire genre.
Keep up the content, great review!
So this seems like FTL meets slay the spire with great graphics.
my thought exactly. This could be really great
Had the same thought too.
I was about to say this
Now I need to know the Drifter vs Magpie lore
Finally, I can play my dream game - as a ship captain that settles disputes with card games.
What's being a ship captain like? What are your duties?
Getting better at card games so I can defeat other captains, obviously.
Mate your finally branching out this is a W, good review bit unusual but it fits your style of videos great job.

At 13:46, I'm like, 'Still better than getting downed by a turret'

Oh wow, that star map music is *very* Mass Effect

Great vid as always. Is the Phoenix point playthrough part 3 in the works?
I've put it on the backburner for now. Part 2 didn't get that much interest.
I dig this review

Well... You received a key, so technically this video is sponsored...
Good one though still...
A sponsorship means you get paid to show the game. Receiving a key comes with no obligation to talk about the game. Hope that helps
