Congratulations on your move, Frank. I look forward to learning more about Calgary through your future videos. My best advice to you as you begin this next chapter of your life is to "expect it to go well." Eliminate any fear you may have about anything. Wherever you go, wear a great big smile and expect that you will be welcomed and appreciated by everyone. Life is a mirror. Remember that whatever you project onto it will be reflected back onto you. Therefore, give the world the best of yourself. Wishing you much joy and happiness in your new home! 🙂👍
Thank you so much! Love the piece of advice you always share on my vids. Calgary has been amazing for me so far and I am def a lot less stress and much happier overall. Can't wait to share more content about the new city. All the best to you as well :)
Congrats and welcome home! Enjoyed the video and the nostalgic goodbye to YYZ and getting right into the swing of a new start in YYC. You're just in time for a prime larch hike in the mountains! So great to have new adventures and fresh discoveries; an exciting reinvention of familiar Calgary. Great content! 🎉
Thanks so much, Laura! Funny enough, I remember your comment in a past video and wondered if moving back was possible. Now, here I am, back in Calgary and excited for larch season and hikes! All the best.
We wish you all the best on your new chapter back in Calgary! Would love to hear more about your thoughts on living in Calgary versus Toronto this time around
Congratulations, man! If I was not so tied down to Ontario, I'd definitely consider moving to Calgary. That's how I found your channel in the first place all those years back. My wife and I were planning on going this summer since we've never been to Alberta, but some things got in the way. It looks to be the kind of mid-key (not low-key or high-key) type of place we're about (which is why we chose Ottawa over Toronto). I wish you all the best on your new Calgary journey!
Thanks Tylor! Ya I somehow found myself in a full circle lol. You are one of the OG's! Def come visit Calgary and let me know what you think how it compares to Ottawa - I feel it may be similar within the city, plus the addition of more outdoorsy activities. Anyhow, take care.
Thanks Frank for sharing your moving experience! Really appreciate you for sharing your experience with the U-Haul container. Thinking about using them for my next move. If you have any tips, let me know!
Virak bro! Always good to hear from you. You bet man - containers are the way to go. Only piece of advice I can think of it make sure to place most your items in boxes, so they are stackable for the movers (makes it a lot easier and makes more room within the container itself).
Great video 😊Yes, it would be great if you would please do a video about all the administrative tasks you had to do moving from Ontario to Alberta. I am in the GTA and I am understanding the pull to Calgary.
Welcome back to YYC! 🎉 I still remember when you moved in and then went back to Toronto! I hope this time Calgary will give you what you are looking for ❤
I was wondering if you have or can make a video on your channel about moving in general? Talking about things like being home sick, meeting new people, and second guessing yourself
What is your reason to move to Calgary this time? There’s nothing wrong with moving back and forth. I have a friend who had experienced a few different places in Canada. She moved out of Calgary and moved back because to her, this is the best place to raise a family and it suits her family’s life style
So what are your costs of living in Calgary? Other than housing, like car insurance, groceries, things like that. How do the non-rent costs compare? Also, did you buy your condo or are you renting it? Thanks for sharing your experiences with us! Honestly I was more into Edmonton than Calgary, but both places have their own gems.
@@FrankHuynh Cool! Might be an interesting vlog. Take us to the grocery store lol, mention your insurance prices as well as part of your move process. Also what's street parking like in Calgary nowadays?
Do you have to do a safety insection on your car since you are moving from ON to AB? I recently did mine ON -> QC I was wondering what other provinces are like for this process? Also safe travels, I hope this move provides you with what ur looking for born and raised Torontonian been following your channel since you initally moved to Calgary!
Yup - pretty standard process requiring all vehicles coming out of province to have them inspected (Safety). Also thanks so much for following from the beginning when I first moved!
Depending on the year of make, some get vehicle inspection exemption. The Registry checks and would tell you if your vehicle qualifies. But I think this is agreement between some provinces and Alberta; might not be the case for all provinces.
Why did you move back to Calgary? Calgary has gotten worse since the time you moved back to Toronto. You dont think you will have the same issues you had before?
Kind of funny the most wealthiest people of Canada are the ones complaining about so much weird stuff they deal with haha 😆 if you can love across country like this your rich haha 😅
To all you people looking at calgary -dont be a sheep. Unless you have a secure remote job dont upend your life because you saw pictures of banff and the same moraine lake advertised everywhere. Calgary is a trap. High unemployment, high insurnace, high utilities, car needed for everything. Difficult career progression. Be careful of all realtors and landlords commenting.
Although I am now a realtor - I don’t recommend moving anywhere without work lined up. I made the move back in 2021 with no work and it was stressful and I had difficulties finding a job. I do agree, I hope no one watches my vids and think they should default move to Calgary - there’s a lot more to consider outside the beautiful blue waters and mountains in Banff.
Your back..I remember telling you that I'm moving my family here in Calgary. And just when we are about to move, you moved back to Toronto. That was like 2021... '22. Two years later...I have 2 mortgages. Hahaaha.. it should be different this time. No covid, no social distancing..real estate here has gone up though..kinda slow down..maybe coz of the interest rate going down..people are waiting..it might pick up again in spring. Good luck man.
Calgary! It's time

Mostly had to do w/ re-evaluating my values (affordability, family, slower pacer,etc.). My previous vid is the long why answer! Good question.

Short answer: pretty much the same. It's the housing situation in Toronto that I REALLY noticed the difference.
Rent is the most important factor
