    Dude im absolutely in love with this bike. I rode one and I couldnt even think straight. It was so fast and comfortable and light. Next bike is definitely going to be one of these.

    Man I rode an fz09 a few times. They are scary torquey. Fun as hell though. I think I'd have to stick to the fz07

    i own one of this bike and very happy with it, i took canyon riding yesterday and its very easy to maneuver and its very very fast, i have over 850 miles on it now. lane splitting is also easy with this bike, with LA traffic i decided to buy a bike and i read and watched a lot of reviews before deciding to buy this one. all in all i think i made the right decision.

      How about the suspension through, its OK for street but not for canyon riding

    Excellent report AK on the Yamaha FZ09.My next motorcycle that I'm going to buy hopefully in September 2015.I like everything about the 2015 FZ09.

    Rode and reviewed the 2015 FZ-09 and posted a vid yesterday, loved it. Needs stiffer springs if you are going to push it hard in the corners, custom seat and a pipe (maybe a fly screen) but that's about it. Great ride and great value!

    I have an FZ8 and compared to the FZ-09, its day and night. Feels way different in most aspects! I liked the FZ-09 but I like my FZ8 more. It's a happy medium in the FZ series.

    Just a pity that the brakes and suspension are cut short due to price point goals.

      Nice bro I have a red 2014 fz09 with a full akrapovic system. I loved the review it was spot on. The bike is religiously fast til 128 which is end of 4th gear. before it tops out at a electronically limited speed of 131 mph. I'll be looking forward to the vlogs and new bike reveal. Do you have a time frame to expect the new bike reveal?

    Great video that will be my next bike. I have a KLR and I'm ready to step-up a little bit but not too much. This looks like a great choice for me not too much power but can still keep up "safely" with traffic.

    I have the 2014 fz-09 only complaint would be the jerky throttle at lower speeds between throttle on and off but b mode does help a lot with that when your just crusing threw town and i had to adjust the cam chain tensioner twice because it would rattle but very very fun nimble bike

    They are awesome bikes, I have a Triumph Street Triple and my buddy has an MT-09, the European version, and it has 10hp more and 6 or 8 more ft lbs. My bike has the same power and torque as the US bikes do. That thing eats my Street Triple up. When we trade, I'm always on one wheel. But this winter I'm getting a new exhaust and a dyne tune, gonna try to top him and not tell him about it. He'll find out when he he can't keep up. hahaha

      Erm... OK? Chase's quality is miles better AK doesn't do anything different if anything the things he does different could be considered negatives. You probably just enjoy his personality more than Chase which is fine but be careful how you word things.

    • @MJT-DA
      @MJT-DA 8 років тому

      +OspreyBravo18 Watch chases zx6r video then watch his. The difference? This does research before he gets onto the bike. So it might be personal preference but I'm sorry chase is entertaining but if I'm buying a new bike im not going to watch a 20 minute video of chase trying to figure out "does this gsxr have a mode C?" like wtf?!

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 8 років тому

      Taijean Moodie Dude you must not watch any of chases most recent videos... He has come a long way since March of last year. I made my first bike purchase off his review of the FZ-07 and he was spot on in his review and I absolutely adore my FZ-07 I literally sit next to her in a camp chair and watch youtube videos while the lube tacs up after cleaning her chain.... When I say I love my FZ-07 I'm not joking and his review was spot on.

    • @Osprey1994

      Taijean Moodie He rarely fumbles with bikes anymore either not to mention that his B-roll is fantastic and he includes all the specifications of the bike during the b-roll footage.

    • @MJT-DA
      @MJT-DA 8 років тому +1

      Oh I did not know thanks. I will start watching him again; I have recently seen his ninja 650 video and once again a fan of chase from that video. My first bike is a used ninja 250r, but since i need to go on the highway now (it's going my last year in high school in 2017) to go to college and the 250cc is unfortunately not enough. Since I got insurance and college stuff to pay for I can't get the zx6r! XD Therefore is the reason why I'm going to purchase the ninja 650 or the cbr650f if chase does a review on it. Don`t get me wrong I have been a fan of chase for a long time but 2015 was just not his year......but hopefully 2016 and 2017 is his golden age again!

    Several reviews say that this bike is wobbling at speeds over a 100mph. Sadly, could be a dangerous problem. Not sure yet what the fix might be. I'd say Yamaha didn't do their homework on top speed stability.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 8 років тому

      People say that yet I've seen people do fine over 100mph and since a bunch of people own them I know the FZ-07 doesn't have that problem cause I have one and that bitch gets to 100 real quick. I think a steering dampener should be a thing no matter what though.

    man so torn between the fz 09 and fz 07 as my second bike for the spring
    I daily commute on my ninja 300 90% city riding and I'm getting the itch to upgrade after 9 months with her

    • @Ta3kno
      @Ta3kno 8 років тому

      +memphis407 I've had FZ 07 for 2 years now. Before that I had a KTM 125 Duke for 3 years. Now I'm going for FZ 09, I'm pretty sure I have the experience required for the bike. I think you would be fine with either one of the FZs, though in my experience, FZ 07 was scary torquey after a humble 15 hp Duke. You get used to the FZ 07 pretty fast but it never really got boring, just makes you want a little bit more and that is what the FZ 09 offers. Your Ninja 300 has over twice the power of my old 125 Duke so I think the FZ 07 might not feel just as crazy to you. FZ 07 is torquey, and FZ 09 is basically FZ 07 with more pull and character. I think 0-60 the FZ 09 is only a little bit faster. It's about 4-4,5 seconds 0-60 with FZ 07 in my experience and FZ 09 is barely a second faster. After 60 though FZ 09 just humiliates FZ 07. I wouldn't count out FZ 09 if I were in your boots just respect the power especially in the beginning and you will jizz your pants every time you ride it guaranteed. FZ 07 is also loads of fun but with less pull, still plenty enough to get you in a lot of trouble. FZ 07 is like FZ 09 in B mode, which is the slowest mode of the FZ 09. FZ 07 pulls power wheelies in 1st and 2nd and FZ 09 just does it with much less effort. If you think you will outgrow the power of the FZ 07 get the FZ 09 straight up. Or should I say when you outgrow it since the same exact thing happened to me after I got taste of what torque actually feels like. Either way, can't go wrong buddy.

      If you do 90% city riding FZ 07 would be a better option in my opinion. I ride a lot in the city area but also in the twisties so I like the extra grunt of the FZ 09.

    Dude, if you're going to comment on throttle resopnse, you MUST say what gear you are on and what RPMs you are doing so viewers can get a real feel of that you are saying. And you must also test the bike with 6th gear and 2000rpm which is the best test for motor elasticity for any bike.

    Same yellow color I had on my 2003 FZ-1. I have two questions. Does the mode you select stay set? When you turn the bike off and on I mean. And second question is - If you have your high beans on does it still flash to pass?

    • @ryleyschentag7392
      @ryleyschentag7392 9 років тому

      +Wabbit1961 mode always switches back to standard after turning it off. the 'flash to pass' will activate both the low and high beams at the same time.

  • @gmeister07
    @gmeister07 9 років тому

    My quesytion is why you didnt comment on the front end wobble as you were pulling onto the highway right after the front wheel comes down? I have heard this is a known problem with the bike, and I have seen no real solution : / I want this bike so bad but that wobble is stopping me from pulling the trigger on it

    • @T-revMoto
      @T-revMoto 9 років тому

      +Jerry Geist I have an FZ-09 and don't really have any issue with wobble. I've never had a speed wobble just accelerating (assuming the front tire stays on the ground).
      However, there are two reasons I may get a slight wobble.
      1) For third gear wheelies, i grip the bars pretty tight to yank up on the bars. If i come down and haven't loosened my grip yet, it may wobble a little. But all you have to do is relax your grip and it fixes itself right up.
      2) Under extremely hard acceleration the tire becomes very light. Bike has a ton of torque, so this bike's front end is always light on the ground. sometimes i won't realize my tire is hovering over the ground and I may turn the bars a little and wobble.
      All of these reasons would happen with any motorcycle. The FZ just has a ton of torque, so that tire is almost always off the ground. So you may see it occurring more often on FZ videos. It's really just a symptom of wheelies, not the bike. Hope this helps.

    So having ridden both the FZ07 and the FZ09, which is a better purchase in your opinion?

    • @TheAK47s
      @TheAK47s  9 років тому +1

      Justin Ammerman Depends on what your riding experience is, and how crazy you are with the way you ride. If youre a thrill seeker and have decent riding experience and know how to corrent and handle certain things, the FZ09 is your bike. If youre newer, or just like cruising and canyon carving but still want a bike to have a ton of fun on, the FZ07 is your bike. THAT BEING SAID. The FZ07 still has insane amounts of power for what it is, and because its so light, it will catch you off guard at first. The FZ09 will come up on you faster than you can say Yamaha and you better know how to control that front end and that twitchy throttle. All in all both are absolutely fantastic machines and I would own either one of them.

      TheAK47s Hey couldn't agree more. Great video. I have been riding the FZ-09 since early release in 2014. I have an FZ-09 with 150hp, check it out on my channel. I have been riding since 2001 and this is one of the most exciting bikes to come out of Japan in the past 5 years in my opinion.

      Fast FZ09 What did you do to get your FZ-09 to 150hp?? That must be insane? I will check out your channel, do you have a video talking about the mods and HP of 150?

    • @fastfz0976
      @fastfz0976 9 років тому

      P Banks Hey man. My FZ-09 has a full Yoshimura R-77 exhaust, a Graves block-off plates kit installed with the air injection system removed, a K&N air filter with a modified airbox, Bazzaz piggyback fuel controller with map select switch on handlebar with two maps with a custom dyno tune mapped for max power. 520 conversion kit, Anti-Gravity battery. 150ish at crank with 125 to the tire. And the bike is sub 400lbs wet. Not much can touch this bike up to 100mph.

    I just sold my 2009 Triumph speed triple and I am itching to get back into a bike. Was thinking this 2015 Yamaha FZ-09.
    Is it too tourqey? I am a responsible rider that will probably shit my pants once then respect the bike after lol.
    Are those the stock mirrors?
    Thanks!

      +Adam Murphy Well I doubt since I'm coming from a FZ-07. It feels gruntier than it really is because of light weight, the suspension setup, short gearing. But it has so much torque. SO MUCH. I'd call it scary fun. If you want to commute on it nicely it's down for that too but just be aware of constant unintentional wheelies, please. At least before you learn to handle the bike. Though if you put it on B mode you will pretty much get rid of unintentional wheelies. It's safe. It's not too torquey. But it's very torquey, if that makes any sense. Since you had a Speed Triple before you shouldn't have any problems with FZ-09. I haven't ridden a Speed Triple before but I'd imagine FZ-09 is a lot more wheelie-happy.

      Ta3kno, how good was the trade in of your FZ-07? I'm itching for more power with just under 1000mi on my odo on the FZ-07..

    • @chad2470
      @chad2470 7 років тому

      Yup, don't rip on the throttle while in 1st gear. LOL! In the other gears, it will feel like the bike is going to tear you off it, but the front wheel won't come up... for the most part. LOL! I'd say once your going in 3rd gear you're fine as far as the wheel staying down.

  • @gwwayner
    @gwwayner 9 років тому +1

    Although it does have an awesome motor, the reason it is so wheelie-prone is the high front end and the upright seating position (which also becomes tiresome going fast on the highway). Btw the cops may seize the bike and give you an expensive ticket if they catch you doing a 'wheelie' on public roads calling it stunt riding.The engine deserves a sport-bike chassis like the Triumph Street Triple R which will destroy the FZ-09 on high speed bumpy corners.

      +Kenny Garcia The best thing you can do for your street riding in preparation is riding dirt bikes off road and learning to control the balance of the bike. It looks like you already ride from your Kawasaki Picture. Try finding some sand or wet mud and practice balancing the bike when unexpected things happen, such as randomly swerve or apply to much braking front and rear to be a better rider. Learning off road on a 100cc CRF at 16 made me a better rider. Fast bikes are fun, but for your first, you'll have a lot more fun learning to ride and pushing a 250 then learning to control a 600 or 1000. At first...

      +TheAK47s You should have ridden a '14 model before they remapped the throttle, response in standard mode was brutal. It was livable, but I still had mine reflashed because just grabbing the throttle haphazardly from idle to take off from a light, even in std, would still launch the front wheel in the air.

      That's a silly accusation considering I own an R1 and have ridden everything from ZX10s to To the 2015 R1. Next time do a little digging before you make yourself look like a lazy idiot. And yes. This bike will beat liter bikes to a certain speed. It's the way the engines are set up. You don't believe me then go get on one and try go wide open throttle on an R1 and then go wide open on one of these. You will either beat the R1 to about 70, or the R1 will win due to the fact you probably can't keep the front wheel down on he FZ.

    uh... FZ-09 at 107HP (cycleworld)... yeah. S1000R at 151HP (cycleworld; BMW claimed 160HP), CBR1000 at 147HP (cycleworld), 200HP R1 (cycleworld), 174 HP zx10r (cycleworld). Me thinks you sold out. Honestly though, I have no problem with that especially considering the price differences, everyone is trying to sell something... we all have to make a living. With that said, a much older R1, ZX10, or fireblade will be massively faster and cheaper in every way than this FZ-09 even if a bit outdated in technology (but honestly does the FZ-09 even employ anything that could be considered "modern" technology? it's basically still an 80's bike with updated styling).

      What about gearing as well? Every superbike on the market, except perhaps Suzuki, has a ridiculously tall 1st gear and don't make half their power until about 8,000 rpm. In that amount of time when the superbike is smoking it's clutch trying to get going, the FZ would have been through 2-3 gears by then and getting smaller in the horizon. It's a 0 to 100 mph machine, punches above its weight in this area. It's very light and makes all of its torque over a wide rev range.
