      +MonsterChuck LOL I didnt notice that, probably because i generally dont talk thru turns and when I do my cuts I only keep talking parts on a review video such as this. Very astute observation tho, thanks for watching.

    Thanks for the review, I'm really considering buying this bike next year. for future reviews I would recommend this though: talk about the "petty nuisances" like if you like/dislike the button layouts, whether your knee gets scorched on the engine cover, whether your foot gets baked by the exhaust, etc. Otherwise, great review!

    Good review overall. I use my bike as a commuter and my ride into work is just over an hour one way, in Los Angeles traffic, and I have over 43,000 miles currently on my bike! This thing is a great bike and if you maintain it, as you mentioned, it's been a solid investment.
    I adjusted my own suspension and it's been great, no suspension upgrade really needed. I personally think a lot of owners sink way too much money in a budget bike, but to each his own. I put on a tail tidy, front wind screen, to deflect the wind off my chest for the long commute, and switched out the horrid looking turn signals for the sweet Graves minimalist ones. A total of about $200 in upgrades and have gotten tons of compliments on the looks.
    I've been riding in SoCal since 1992, and I'm a professionally trained rider. This bike is still one of the best bikes you can buy, even at it's crazy low price for what you get. You can sink thousands of dollars into upgrades, many aren't really needed and/or street riders don't benefit a lot from, but if you have the disposable cash to do them it'll at least look cool.
    Stay safe and keep the rubber side down!

    I test rode the 2014 FZ09 and the 2015 FZ09 and I really liked the lightweight nimbleness and the motor is awesome.Though when I went through some twisties I could feel the rear tire not hooking up right and than I gave it gas and it pushed out the rear a little.I want the FZ09 motor but I want the Traction Control and ABS brakes and suspension upgrade.So I have been looking at the FJ09 and the new XSR 900.I found some great deals on the 2015 Yamaha FJ09.So if I can't afford the FJ09 or the new XSR900 than I will go with a 2015 Yamaha FJ09.I will try to sort out the suspension and just enjoy the motorcycle and change things like you did.The seat will probably the first thing to change.Thankyou for your excellent review!!

    currently saving up to get a MT/FZ 09 as my fun/touring bike just love the sound of a triple
    due to its price it is a great platform to customize into the riders needs and be a great machine for a lot of years and miles
    planned mods
    GPR exhaust and flash tune
    screen to mount when touring
    CCT when the original fails (just changed the original on my klx 250s efi)
    suspension both front and rear
    tail tidy kit
    and last bar mirror and some other grips

I've heard the power commander compliments the flash really well. However, I'd say the flash is a much better deal for what you get vs the PC. Leaning between a 650 V, an f800gt or the fz09. Having 125 hp bikes I don't see the need for the power 80 mph is 80 mph and even a 250 can easily maintain 80 mph... Filtering is the main reason to select a bike and mpg... The 15 fz09 is 7999, used 14 f800gt is 7999 with many upgrades and bags, the 12 650 Vstrom is 4999.00 with 4k miles... with upgrades... May end up with the 650, for reliability and insurance costs. Currently riding an 07 tiger 1050... Recently sat on a 15 red fz09 and it was pretty nice (hard seat)...
    Was waiting to hear about the MPG from the fz09 is getting. f800gt 60 mpg, 650 v 50 to 55mpg...

    I've ridden about 400,000 miles on motorcycles just to give an idea on my experience. The main reason this isn't a starter motorcycle for those new and considering it is the power it delivers. As a new rider, you could probably get away with getting this bike if you kept it on B mode for your first 10k miles. In my opinion, B mode, behaves much like a regular motorcycle and is much more forgiving than the other modes. If you try and learn on the the std or A modes, it isn't forgiving and if you make a small mistake and grip the throttle on a bump or aren't familiar with throttle control, you can EASILY give it too much power on accident. When you give a motorcycle like this too much power, you grip the handlebars hard to hold on, which then turns the throttle on more putting more power into it and making the problem much worse. If you've rode a cruiser bike or even a racer, you won't understand just how fast it puts power to the wheel when you turn the throttle. An experienced rider on any bike will recognize the mistake he's making when this happens, a novice won't until it's too late. If you've ever seen a video of a new rider who gives it a little gas and the bike takes off, then the grip it tighter and it floors the power and they hit a car or tree, etc...that's the danger a novice can get into with this bike and not just from a stopped position but around turns too. Hope this explanation helps a little.

      There is a HUGE difference between the two. I started on the 07 and am now on the 09. I thoroughly enjoyed the 07, but it was a physically small bike and didn't have the top end I was looking for with my longer 250+ mile each way trips a couple times a month. What am I missing about the famous FZ09?
    I just sold my 2014 Daytona 675R to get the FZ 09 which I didn't like after test riding it.
    The FZ09 fits me so well, everyone raves about it and I was ready to buy it. Walked in with cash in hand very exited to take the bike home right after the test ride.
    However.....I test rode it and was very disappointed when I noticed how cheaply/clumsy was made (which I can understand it is a budget bike after all and anyone buying it is paying for the awesome engine first everything else second) the seat was crap, brakes so so, suspension a pogo stick, very unstable at high speeds (over 100 mph), the mirrors kept moving left and right, and so did the blinkers they kept shaking at any speed ?!
    I am sure that with an additional $1000-2000 this could be a great bike.
    Maybe it wasn't well put together, maybe the tire pressure was off or maybe I am too heave for it... I don't know...
    Maybe it's just me because I was expecting a Triumph experience and quality?! I am not sure

    A used goldwing 1500 was my first bike. I quickly learned not to park in a parking spot that was downhill. It wasn't recommended as a first bike either for a different reason...weight. I never dropped it. I bought a tracer a month ago and it feels like a bicycle. I still have the 25 year old wing and have put 40k on it. Did all the maintenance myself ....timing belts, tire changes (A lot of work) and will do the same for the tracer.... more maintenance but easier to do.

    I was also cautioned about buying a 2015 FZ-09 as a first bike. Nearly killed myself that first day ;). Now after 8k, it's a great fun bike that I'm slowly learning to maintain/upgrade on my own. I love the handling, the power and response - at all speeds. Yes, this thing flies, and pulls you off of your seat. A-Mode is way too much fun on the highway, and handy to get you out of freeway nasties. No doubt, had I gotten a smaller, less powerful bike (i.e. the FZ-07) I would have very shortly thereafter wanted a bigger bike. BTW, it only took me a couple of days to get a handle on the bike's attitude but yes, even very experienced riders confirm that the FZ-09 is a twitchy monster - so new riders beware. I'm now looking at a FZ-10, but could easily throw a few bags on my 09 and ride that for many years. Thanks for the vid.

    • @agentcox000motovlogs
      @agentcox000motovlogs  8 років тому +1

      Too many variables to accurately answer that. Just depends if you have prior experience like dirt bike, mini bike, ect. Also need to be realistic and honest with yourself and assess your own maturity level. If you're prone to impulsive decision making I would suggest a much smaller bike. It all boils down to setting yourself up for success not failure. I chose the fz-09 because I am a little older, wiser, responsible, and have a family (people relying on me to make it home). I guess my best advice is to be introspective and figure out what's best for you to stay safe on, not what is going to be the most fun. Develop your skills and the fun stuff will come in due time.

    @RyanMcIntyre 7 років тому

    25k and you've gone through a few chains? Stop cleaning them, you're ruining them. A modern o-ring chain should be run dry and clean with minimal lube just to prevent wear on the rollers and sprocket. Try maxima chain wax and stop cleaning your chain so much. You can get 35k out of a chain on a bike like that no problem.

    • @pcofranc
      @pcofranc 4 роки тому

      I guy did a test on his channel and said chain wax was the worse and gear oil (messy) was the best for an o-ring chain. Fact / tested not MC mythology. Want a chain to really last? Continous oiler (buddyoiler brand?) 45K+ no special cleaning needed. Want even more miles - Yamaha early 80's XV950? virago - chain was enclosed in plastic and it says in the manual to expect **at least** 38K miles! It is dirt and lack of lube as it gets thrown off that kills the chain. Chain wax is clean & best for show bikes - it still works but not as good as wd40/gear oil.

    • @agentcox000motovlogs

    • @user-sw2lv3zp6o
      @user-sw2lv3zp6o 8 років тому

      No way should a modern chain wear out so quickly. I've done 23,000 miles on my chain on my Suzuki B-King and I've hardly had to adjust it. You live in a dry state, and there's no reason FZ-09s should be hard on chains. You shouldn't have to adjust it every 500 miles. You're not running it too tight, are you?
