As a owner / operator of a lawn mowing business, I like the EGO products and use the spin trimmer and the push mower, as well as the blower for some things. But this 52” mower is not for daily grass cutting business, homeowner yes. could it be used on my job? Yes for a limited type of day, but not as a replacement for my gas powered 54” ZT’s.. If EGO needs test pilots for their research, I’d be happy to beat on one,
You’re not wrong. However, if you have enough batteries and a means to charge them, you can indeed get through the entire day. Sometimes when I would get into cul-de-sacs that I take care of. I would put a couple of chargers plugged into customers homes. That way by the time I was done, I would have four more 10-12 amp hour batteries charged up but This was just an experiment for my small lawn care business. my long-term goal was if I get an electric pick up truck like the Ford lightning now I would have the means to charge the machine I would overall save money on gas and maintenance of machines. And I probably would’ve eventually upgraded to a more commercial electric zero turn.
@@ThunderandLightningEvPickup great plan!! I can see how with my local business that I can make the EGO 52” effective, like mow the morning with my toro 54”, at lunch switch to the EGO, etc. I have written EGO to see if they would be interested in my research and promotion in my suburban community. For me at 65 with 30 years in business it is about my profit margin and building my nest egg but if I were 30 again I’d be all over the battery equipment, it is the future.
@@faceinthecrowd5810 I would actually recommend you reverse that. I would start early in the morning with my electric mowers. One reason is that they are quieter so people don’t care if you’re there at 7 AM. And then if I ran out of battery which usually took quite a while, but I might know about 6 acres worth of properties since I had extra batteries and then I would bring it home cash on the charger and switch to my gas one. Second reason it might be better to do. This is because I was saving a fortune on gas some days I would get through the whole day without needing my gas mower at all see myself maintenance and gas oil, etc. One point I was saving $90 a month in just gas alone. The bagger works great for light and dry stuff. Anything a little heavier or wet not so much are you looking to bag grass clippings or for fall cleanup?
I have about 20 hours on my mower and I love everything about except I sometimes hit a bump and it raises the deck height to all the way up. Anyone else have this issue?
I do. Especially with gas prices the way they are and the fact that there’s no maintenance on this my ex mark which I bought only three years ago is running fine but it still needs a lot of maintenance just regular ongoing maintenance
no belts to change no oil change no oil filter change no gas to buy/store no ethanol to mess up your motor/fuel lines no carbs to clean/replace no air filter to change no fuel lines to clean/replace no spark plugs to replace easy to remove deck for easy underside pressure washing for those reasons I will be getting this battery electric zero turn also I trim 8 acres and cut (2) half acre lots with houses on them so I can cut for up to 6hrs so when the provided (6) 12amh batteries run out of power I can just pop in my other Ego batteries I have from the kits I bought for my chainsaw, weedeater, blower, and pole saw. other electric zero turns once they run out of battery you have to plug the mower in for about 6hrs before you can continue to cut, with this Ego battery zero turn you can just keep popping in batteries and keep cutting.
Thanks. Question: on Ego's material it says "Fully expandable - add more batteries to cut 5, 6, 7 or as many acres as needed." Do they mean when they run out of charge you swap them for fresh ones and keep mowing or there is more than 6 slots to put batteries?
Looks cool! Two questions about the batteries… How long do they typically take to fully charge? Also, I was wondering if you keep a second set of charged batteries in the trailer in case you run dead in the middle of a job? (And if so, are they very expensive?)
You can charge the entire mower by plugging it in and it’ll charge 6-12 amp hour batteries in less than four hours. If you were charging them individually on a rapid charger it would be about two hours each maybe an hour and a half to 90
As for charge batteries I have about eight other batteries that I use for my hedge trimmers my blower is my weed whackers and such so in a pickle I could mow at least another acre or two with my other batteries assuming I didn’t use them too much I believe that with my current set up I can mow up to 6 acres but it’s pretty rare for me to do that in a single day since I’ve got multiple properties which are around a 1/4-1/2 an acre and a handful that are an acre or more.
@@ThunderandLightningEvPickup thanks very much for the additional info! Sounds like a pretty decent machine. I’m gonna have to consider an upgrade to battery 👍

Totally agree. They are working on a commercial line. Maybe they’ll have this stuff worked out out there. It’s just all that I could afford, and I was kind of testing it out to see if it could work. It did, but it certainly not ideal for a whole lot of commercial work.

Only did .5 of an acre twice, both with 100 percent charges with 4 batteries at 10ah
I think your blade speed was too high or you were in super thick tall wet grass. That has not been my experience especially
