I did the layout and installation by studying the on line videos Husqvarna had on the web ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx2KDztGvdU79XTmlqIMSUyPq8CjprGJOR also recommended it When I started the unit it stated it would take a few days to learn all the spots in the yard. So I thought it was just finding the areas till I noticed it was cutting. It is so quite you don't know it is cutting.
You have to register the mower, it's batteries, and the charger to get the 5 year warranty. it would not be so jerky if you weren't in Sport mode. Try standard or control. If you live within a certain range of a Lowes with this mower in stock they assemble it first from the crate and then deliver it. If you're too far it comes on a crate and you have to install the seat and the arms.
I switched to an Ego push mower, string trimmer, leaf blower and snow blower a few years ago. Since the electric motors do not bog down like a gas engine, I can keep going, reducing the job time significantly. I don't miss cleaning air filters, changing and getting rid of used oil, harmful fumes, noise and the Ariens snow blower with a Briggs and Stratton engine that rarely started in the winter.
Exactly. Over ICE! As you said, between the annual maintenance that you have to do, noise, fumes, having to find non-ethanol fuel that ruined it for me.
My Z6 was a floor model and with my military discount and free delivery right to my door it cost $4700.00. This is the future of lawn mowers no belts and nothing to do with ICE (internal combustion engine) Very quiet & with the led lights you could mow at midnight and not wake the neighbors. From my old Yard Machine 42" cut steering wheel model I have cut my mowing time in half. I am now hooked on Electric Zero Turn mowers; the new way for lawn care ! This mower is a Win Win for me.
Agree although you would still wake the neighbors with the fan blades as they’re somewhat loud. But if you’re far apart from them you would be fine its so much quieter. I had to wear ear protection on my Z-655...
When I had to take over yard duty a few years ago I replaced the gas tools with EGO. No fussing with oil and gas, spark plugs etc. I don't miss the noise and odor of gas tools. And I enjoy yard work now thanks to EGO.

I’m a believer and I was a top of the line Stijl only kind of guy as in that gas powered they were the best in my 32 years and the ego is in the same ball park and that’s good enough to have change my mind and chainsaw. SOLAR is my goal for charging all my batteries and reverse my environmental karma hardly ever sprayed round up or used nasty chemicals but the exhaust and noise pollution I will be and am so thankful thank you chevron 🙏😁👍
Been using their tools for 3 years now. Batteries are perfect, tools robust and cost effective. Moving out of the city to the lake and will need one of these guys to go with my batteries.
Thanks for helping to confirm our decision to get one of these (expecting it in a few days) and the tips. We're also moving (further) away from ICEs and plan to replace ours with some of the other EGO tools.
Thanks for the review. I would definitely get one if i had a yard like yours. Mine is pretty small and for the last year I've used the Ego 21" self propelled mower. It's so much nicer than messing with the gas mower I had before, and the price is really quite competitive to gas mowers with the same basic capabilities. My battery is still going strong, I have a 7.5 mah, I think the Z6 uses their 10 mah batteries. I get a good bit longer run time than advertised and I live on a hill so I do use the self propel feature quite a bit. I'm totally sold on their yard tool line. Got the multi tool as well, the one you can swap different attachments on for things like a weed eater, tiller, pole saw, edger, etc... Works great.
Appreciate the comment! Paid for itself in 14 months vs paying for a service. If it lasts - thats worth it in long term cost savings. Also enjoy most weeks outside the peak of summer taking care of my own yard.

In my opinion , The cut on these electric movers isn't up to the JD Lawn Tractor cut, not even close. At the end of the day Quality of Cut matters most to me, thats why I don't use Zero Turn Mowers.
After 3 years what do you think now? And where do you take it to get fixed for repairs? I had a multi tool ego head break at the carbon fiber connection point after 4mo of commercial use. Customer service is good so far and they are supposed to send out a replacement.
I only mow about 1/3 acre and I ended with about 40% battery after I was done. I realized the blade speed plays a huge part in this. I'll have to tone it back and see what I end with and if it's enough to power the blower and trimmer on the same batteries.

Thank you for being an early adopter, and very helpful video! I'm a quite a ways from being able to go electric here, as I mow 5+ acres on a Deere commercial ZTR. I love how quiet your EGO is, the fact that you can talk on video while using it without shouting over it. Conversely, my ZTR is so loud that I wear ear plugs AND muffs while cutting. The real question - will it last? Please consider giving periodic updates on how it's doing for you!

@@nickimhof1443 yes there are some large investments going this way as all the cars eventually will need to recycle them. So I kept the batteries in and left it outside but covered and in a dry spot. Charged it once or twice to keep it good. No issues on firing up in the spring.

Can you take the batteries out and charge inside your home, for example? I have an uninsulated shed I could keep the tractor all year, but come the freezing temps in the winter I'd want to take the batteries into my house and keep them there. Possible?? I know with Ryobi it's not, which ultimately was the dealbreaker for me. Sucks.
That's what I've been trying to find out as well.. I have a bank that I need to find a good solution for. Also my yard has a lot of divots and stuff from where the feral pigs came and tore it up. It is so rough and uneven it's very hard to mow. And it's over where the embankment is. The hill part and the whole side of the yard that comes off of the hill is all messed up. You turn your ankle trying to walk through there! Last time I tried to mow with my regular gas mower (John Deere) it totally killed it when the blades hit. I'd be afraid to tear up and expensive new mower like this on that yard. But I was wondering if I could pull something behind it drag over that ground to kind of fix it. I'll have to look into it. But no matter what I can't spend $5,000 on a mower!
I had to calibrate my control arms. Its in the owners manual. Mine was pulling to the left when i got it. After calibration it was fine. Hope that information helps someone 🤷♂️
Mine was difficult to mow straight with side-to-side slope. When side-to-side slope is significant, the mower will not not move forward and you have to back down
So first one had an issue with the blades, and after some back and forth with support they sent me a new one. Second one has had no issues. I’d still buy it and recommend it.
How's the mower and its batteries doing a year later, thinking about getting a electric mower but every option either cant get wet or goes to crap after a year
We just got one of these today at our local ACE. since it was the first ego zero turn they sold they threw in the grass catchment and a set of loading ramps with the purchas price. we wer shocked. as when looking the catchment sytem is very hard to finde right now.
Great video. Love my new Z6, only has 2 hours on it so far. Do you guys have any idea why the wheels remain locked for like 5 mins once the unit is shut down after mowing? The little gears button on the panel remains on and the batteries lit up for about 5 mins after shutdown and the mower cannot be freely moved until it stops flashing.
@@Driven-Productions Just finished updating firmware and I can confirm, the issue persists. The only way to get the mower to roll freely is to (1) Wait until it completes whatever shadow shutdown mode its doing after power is cut or (2) open the battery lid and simply disengage each battery so that none are lit. Then re-engage them and the mower stays off and you can push it now.
@@Driven-Productions When you shut down your mower, do each of your batterie's charging indicators remain on or do they immediately go off? Mine stay on for about 5 mins and its during this time that I cannot freely push the machine. The start button green LED also remains lit. Once both of those lights go out, I can then freely push the machine around my garage.
I have a question about how it compares to your John Deere as far as how long it takes you to mow. I'm in New Hamoshire with a 1 acre lot that is all lawn except for the pool, house and driveway. I am currently using a Cub Cadet LT1050 tractor with a 50" deck, mulching, and it takes me about 90 minutes to do the lawn. I'm curious how long it should take with the Z6 with the smaller deck.
It goes 10 mph, so it’s pretty fast. You would add like 3-4 more up/down lines to your job, adding just a few minutes. But the smell, noise and overall fun factor of the instant electric power will make up for it. I just don’t miss my JD at all. And I was the the guy who always wanted one ya know.
Thank you for the impressive demonstration. Our local Ace Hardware store is selling them for $4,999.00. Anyone aware if they are discounted by dealers?

@@Driven-Productions Very cool thanks for getting back to me so fast. I also own a Tesla and some fun cars with gas and manual transmissions. Lawn equipment is not something I particularly enjoy maintaining so If I can get out of the small engine repair business and just use equipment that would be great. “As long as it lasts” 😂 I was wondering if you where going to mention that after trashing the ICE. I jumped to Ego Trimmer becauee of the crap I was dealing with, with a Stihl trimmer I paid $425 for. Batteries have come a long way from the 90s. However, this mower should cost a lot less.
@@matthewrozumialski8196 ah probably my fault, ran into a metal fence, bent the deck, banged it out, and the blades were working intermittently from there. They sent me a new one after the local shop could not find an issue.

Second one works well. Like the first one did, till it didn’t. When this thing works like it should, I love it. Overall, still better than gas for me. Cause that had its issues too.
Appreciate it. See the last min or so I show the charger which plugs into a standard outlet. It does the converting for you, and only takes two hours to charge. Pretty cool tech
I will NEVER an electric car, but my neighbor is looking at this electric lawn mower and that would be awesome bc I use it most the time and she has a ego weadeater and bush trimmer so she can put 2 more batteries in it for some extra power
Yes. Intermittent blade starting issues. Somewhat my fault of running into a fence and denting the deck, somewhat there fault after fixing the dent but still off and on - no go blade action. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it said nope. After several months of working with them, one trip to service center and it still had same issue after, Ego dropped off a new unit.
Thanks for the review...tons of comments on battery price and gas lovers incoming lol! I have owned EGO mowers and OPE and all I can say its a pleasure to use. I am fine with less power for the ease of use and enjoyment of using it. I use a toro zero turn now that my neighbor is kind enough to let me access and all I can say is the noise and smell gets old fast.
My pleasure, appreciate the comment. I agree the noise, smell and maintenance does get old fast on ICE mowers. My John Deere was not exactly the dream I had in mine.
@Clark Kyle cool man. Use what you got. I agree the battery mowers are expensive and you get more for your money with gas right now. I was just saying it’s actually a pleasure to mow with electric vs. gas. I’ve mowed with everything. Either way if you’re looking for value no doubt it’s not in electric yet.
First unit was replaced on warranty late last season. Had issues with the mower blades, sporadically not working. Ego did cover it under warranty, but took many weeks and frustration.
I'm in Nashville and just purchased a larger lot in north Brentwood, so looking at upgrading my EGO push to this beast. How do you feel it sped up your mowing compared to a push mower? Have you found the batteries give you the 2 acre capability?
@@Driven-Productions Fantastic, do you know of any place in the Nashville area that allows a test drive? I'm pretty confident in EGO but would love to sit on one before I drop that much money for a home mower! Thanks so much!

I have an old gas powered cub cadet and when it goes through tall grass it leaves a "ridge" of uncut grass in the center of the cut area. Especially if you go with any speed. I want to get this mower but dont want to make that investment if the cut of the grass is poor. Further comments on the appearance of the cut grass with any shortcomings?? Thanks Good review...BTW I am with you with getting rid of all those 2 cycle engines. Got the ego leaf blower and the chain saw.....work great for my needs and no annual maintenance and smell and yanking on the cord over and over again to get it started.
I think the grass looks great, no shortcomings yet. The blades are fresh so it should have no issues cutting through much thicker weeds than what I’ve got.
I generally hate anything electric but since this is rarely used and if it dies you can just change batteries. Having backup batteries seems like something you might need on a large lawn.
Not too surprising that it “cuts through well” as I assume it arrived new with sharp blades. I have used a first gen ego with no issues for the last eight years or so. A friend just gave up on her riding mower ($100-$200 per year for maintenance) & bought a self propelled ego $100 off at Lowes last week.
It can do 2 acres on the stock 4 batteries. You can then add two more and do double that. It would get the job done. Did not have one issue with mine the first season here.
Yes. Blade switched/board needed replacing this season. It’s currently sitting at Lowes waiting delivery, it was fixed under warranty. I may have an update video soon.
Any updates on your impressions with this mower? I know you still had the tag on during your review. My only concern is that I've read reviews that the Ego batteries have gone down in quality.
@@catinthehat5140 Actually it is five years is you register your product. BTW, I just bought one of these this season. It seems fine except the battery life is awful. I had to calibrate my control arms. Its in the owners manual. Mine was pulling to the left when i got it. After calibration it was fine. Hope that information helps someone 🤷♂️
Mine was also pulling to the left. I calibrated it and it was set to the left already. Just put it back to the middle and now its perfect.
Interesting. I did not experience this issue.
Mine was difficult to mow straight with side-to-side slope. When side-to-side slope is significant, the mower will not not move forward and you have to back down
So how wide does a gate need to be with discharge shut removed?
Any updates in 3 years on this?
So first one had an issue with the blades, and after some back and forth with support they sent me a new one. Second one has had no issues. I’d still buy it and recommend it.
I have all ego products and love them. Warranties are real good to
How's the mower and its batteries doing a year later, thinking about getting a electric mower but every option either cant get wet or goes to crap after a year
So far zero issues my man
We just got one of these today at our local ACE. since it was the first ego zero turn they sold they threw in the grass catchment and a set of loading ramps with the purchas price. we wer shocked. as when looking the catchment sytem is very hard to finde right now.
Congratulations sounds like you’re happy and did well. I’m still enjoying mine no issues yet.
Also the batteries work with any ego product so I got my mower and I use the batteries with any other product
Any update?.. I’m in the process of purchasing one of these for my 1.75 acres!
I would tell ya if I had any issues, but so far not one. Kinda love it. Makes mowing the yard more fun.
Impressive for battery power!
I’m not sure mine does that. Have you updated the firmware?
@@Driven-Productions I haven’t yet updated firmware.
@@eighties8 I always put it in place when done, then turn off never have tried to push it after. I do usually plug it in after riding.
Can you tow and power a sprayer?
Yes to towing has a hitch, can’t speak on the powering a sprayer have to ask or research Ego on that one.
how may watts does the charging unit draw? Looking to use solar to charge it
1600
Great review!
I was able to buy mine with a 10 percent off coupon from lowe's 😊
That would have been nice 👍 No tax
@@Driven-Productions yeah my total with tax and delivery was 4,852. Thanks to a guy on reddit for telling me about the coupon
I take it you’re not gonna tell anyone else?
@@TristenHernandez I'll send you the link to the site I bought the coupon from. It's a 1 time use coupon cause I tried to use it again and it didn't work. Now I just checked the link and the coupon is gone. The website was called hugeoff. There might be another coupon somewhere on the website by now, I don't know
You can buy coupons on Etsy. 😁
3 years have gone by how's the mower holding up? Debating on the same purchase.
So first one had an issue with the blades, and after some back and forth with support they sent me a new one. Second one has had no issues. I’d still buy it and recommend it.
@@Driven-Productions Very cool thanks for getting back to me so fast. I also own a Tesla and some fun cars with gas and manual transmissions. Lawn equipment is not something I particularly enjoy maintaining so If I can get out of the small engine repair business and just use equipment that would be great. Trimmers, Edgers etc. have already gone electric.
@@Oliver1071 yep all my lawn stuff is electric now and never looking back.
Does recharge using 110 volt or does it need 220?
110 - works well too dead to full in 2 hours
“As long as it lasts” 😂 I was wondering if you where going to mention that after trashing the ICE. I jumped to Ego Trimmer becauee of the crap I was dealing with, with a Stihl trimmer I paid $425 for. Batteries have come a long way from the 90s. However, this mower should cost a lot less.
Well ICE made it 8 years before needing major surgery, this hopefully similar. Second season now no issues yet
He didn't trash ICE, he just said he likes electric
Do you have a 3 year update? Still great?
On my second one now, covered under warranty, but still recommend.
@@Driven-Productions what happened to the first one? lol
@@matthewrozumialski8196 ah probably my fault, ran into a metal fence, bent the deck, banged it out, and the blades were working intermittently from there. They sent me a new one after the local shop could not find an issue.
@@Driven-Productions oh dang that workout out great in the end!
I don’t have a large yard but love having a zero turn. Very intrigued by the Ego Zero Turn.
How’s the 2nd mower holding up? Any regrets w this mower? Would you still recommend?
Second one works well. Like the first one did, till it didn’t. When this thing works like it should, I love it. Overall, still better than gas for me. Cause that had its issues too.
How does it mulch
Very good review. Love this mower. Aside from the Harley, did I also see a Ducati? Unless I missed it, I don't recall you mentioning it...
ua-cam.com/video/-88C5WyINbA/v-deo.html
Loved your video. My question is, when charging the batteries, do you use regular house current or do you use a special 20 amp outlet. Thank you. Dan
Appreciate it. See the last min or so I show the charger which plugs into a standard outlet. It does the converting for you, and only takes two hours to charge. Pretty cool tech
I have a steep yard and this thing FLIES up them. PLENTY of torque.
BTW, I drove mine 7 miles home from Lowes ;) I brought my old fully charged batts.
😂 really!? That’s hilarious I mean at 8 miles an hour I’m sure you got some angry looks ha
@@Driven-Productions If you hold the rabbit in for 4 seconds it goes into "travel mode". even faster ;D (but no mowing)
@@foam27 ha didn’t know that 😂
@@Driven-Productions Sidewalks and exercise paths, they probably thought I was a landscaper ;D
Mine is at local Westlake ready to be assembled and delivered.
🙌
How many batteries are included?
4
I will NEVER an electric car, but my neighbor is looking at this electric lawn mower and that would be awesome bc I use it most the time and she has a ego weadeater and bush trimmer so she can put 2 more batteries in it for some extra power
It’s been great- 2nd season now zero issues
Can you tow a cart or an aereator with it?
Yes there us a hook built in, its got the power
Any issues 2 years later?
Yes. Intermittent blade starting issues. Somewhat my fault of running into a fence and denting the deck, somewhat there fault after fixing the dent but still off and on - no go blade action. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it said nope. After several months of working with them, one trip to service center and it still had same issue after, Ego dropped off a new unit.
does it come with the mulch kit?
Good luck getting it fixed once it breaks.
We’ll see what happens. No issues yet
Where can I see an ego zero turn mower I live in Essex Connecticut
Check Lowes and Ace
Nice video
Thanks for the review
I might wait another year. I'm waiting for a front attachment device.
Front attachment for what? Sorry I'm new to riding-mowers, and trying to research what I may want in the future.
@@fourdragonv2 The ability to plow snow in your drive way.
@@russell311000 Oh gotcha. I guess I wasn't thinking that, living in NC. Thanks.
Ryobi Electric Zero Turn has front attachments
How fast does it go in reverse
A good deal slower. Would say 1-2 mph max
That’s not fast enough for me I go backwards pretty fast so I can blow the leaves all in one direction
problem for me i cut 7ac and the cost of the unit is no cheaper than gas. If it doesn't have the motor or labor cost, it should cost less.
You got man. I have the trimmer and blower. Will get me one
Wish I had a discount code to offer but Ego never called me back :(
Thanks for the review...tons of comments on battery price and gas lovers incoming lol!
@Clark Kyle no it doesnt at all...it proves I am using a mower for free. If I didnt have access to the TORO i would buy the EGO. Electric is there.
I don't understand why people would be "fans" of gas. Just use whatevers best
Any update on the longevity? Any issue after using it for a season?
No issues on first season - going strong on second now.
@@Driven-Productions thanks for the update. This looks enticing not having to deal with gas and motor issues.
How is the EGO holding up? I’m about to buy one and was wondering how it’s holding up.
First unit was replaced on warranty late last season. Had issues with the mower blades, sporadically not working. Ego did cover it under warranty, but took many weeks and frustration.
How tall is it? 40”-50”? If Under 40” tall, I could fit it in a mini van and not need a trailer.
Should work
This seems to be an awesome mower!!! Who services it for maintenance (i.e. mower blades, deck, tires, etc.)
Looking forward for this to come down in price though.
You know I’m having issues with mine now too. Debating if I should do an update video its been hit or miss past few weeks.
So the usb is on the opposite side of the phone holder? 🤭🤔
I'm in Nashville and just purchased a larger lot in north Brentwood, so looking at upgrading my EGO push to this beast.
How do you feel it sped up your mowing compared to a push mower? Have you found the batteries give you the 2 acre capability?
Faster and more fun. You will enjoy mowing the yard. 2 acres all day
@@Driven-Productions Fantastic, do you know of any place in the Nashville area that allows a test drive? I'm pretty confident in EGO but would love to sit on one before I drop that much money for a home mower! Thanks so much!
@@CBlakeDavis on their website they show authorized dealers. I would call and confirm they have a demo available. I bought the demo unit otherwise couldn’t get one and that was a while ago.
It’s super responsive because you’re in sport mode. Put it in standard and you’ll be fine.
@@Driven-Productions Gotta get one....thanks
@@kevinbachus5887 i think if they hold up over time and can get the price down to $3.5k they will sell the hell out of these things.
That's a massive house back there
Yeah neighbors going all out on that one…
Is EGO the same as Easy Go? I thought easy go made golf carts.
You are correct. I have an Easy Go Elite L6, been pretty solid. Separate brands
If u put in standard mode it will be easier to control
That is true and good advice to do so.
What do you do, for a living to afford all of this?
I generally hate anything electric but since this is rarely used and if it dies you can just change batteries. Having backup batteries seems like something you might need on a large lawn.
Not too surprising that it “cuts through well” as I assume it arrived new with sharp blades.
I have used a first gen ego with no issues for the last eight years or so.
A friend just gave up on her riding mower ($100-$200 per year for maintenance) & bought a self propelled ego $100 off at Lowes last week.
Funny just changed the blades myself yesterday. Was pretty darn easy to do. Sure helps having fresh blades
I have 1.70 acres of property... not sure if this would be worth it.
It can do 2 acres on the stock 4 batteries. You can then add two more and do double that. It would get the job done. Did not have one issue with mine the first season here.
The batteries are expensive, so for me it would come down to longevity of the life of the batteries.
But then theres quality of cut !
Have you had any problems with it after a bit over a year of use?
Yes. Blade switched/board needed replacing this season. It’s currently sitting at Lowes waiting delivery, it was fixed under warranty. I may have an update video soon.
So you turn the blades on just like any other mower, cool!!
Yep
Any updates on your impressions with this mower? I know you still had the tag on during your review. My only concern is that I've read reviews that the Ego batteries have gone down in quality.
You know done the whole season now weekly cuts and no issues yet.
There's a 3 year warranty on the battery
@@catinthehat5140 Actually it is five years is you register your product. BTW, I just bought one of these this season. It seems fine except the battery life is awful. I bought two extra batteries for a total of 6 and I still cannot finish my one acre lawn sometimes. At other times I can just make it. I mow on power level two most of the time to conserve battery too.
Does it have a bagger attachment or anything like that?
Yes you can see a metal area made for attachments below the batteries in the rear.
You're leaving it in sport mode and wondering why it's very responsive and jerky? Sport mode is for driving to the start point of the yard. You're then supposed to change modes to one of the slower settings.
Honestly the last update smoothed that out some. Have got used to it, but you’re not wrong.
Noise level compared to a standard zero turn?
Far less! Like have to take out iPod Pro’s to make sure its still on….
Why no mention of the price?
Not only do I mention the price I show my receipt near the end.
Do you know how many times I can get my lawn professionally cut for 5000.00?
For me it was 14 months break even. But yeah $5k is still not a lot in the lawn mower game.
$5K doesn't even cover 1 year of lawn cutting for my house. This mower would pay for itself easily the first year at my place.
is it good for hilly terrain?
It is in fact
looks like the dewalt that caught fire last week!!!!!!!
