Hey man, I'm a designer at G. LOOMIS. We started doing the switch to black thread because it was the direction that the general high end rod market was wanting. It also makes it easier to color match thread if you want to replace a guide it it ever breaks. Glad you like our rods! Tight lines 🎣
Not sure why they discontinued it. You’re right they were a great value. The gcx is definitely an upgraded version and performs really well but it’s $300
