I have a stigmatism as well and the larger dot effects my eyes bad. Matter of fact even with the 3 MOA I have to keep the dot smaller or it stretches all out Crazy looking.
It's really personal preference and question of eyesight. I know plenty of competition guys that swear by 6 or 8 moa , but with my astigmatism 3 just works so much better. Thanks for watching.
Good stuff Val. As I age, the 6 MOA is really nice for my defensive handguns. The aluminum housing around the tritium vials on my G19 suppressor height irons was very distracting, had to black them out.
Same here. 4 decades of working behind a computer has trashed my eyes so on my carry's, if I'm having to use it for defense then I'm looking to get a big dot on center mass quickly and for me anyway, the bigger dot just fits.
How did your 3MOA vs. 6 MOA red dot experiment turn out? I just watched your video as I am trying to decide between going with 3 MOA or 6 MOA for my Sig AXG Pro.
I've just put money down on a new Sig Sauer P32O AXG PRO...what dot did you go with and how much do you like it. Sig Reomo 1 PRO or Leupold Delta Point PRO ??
Thanks for the video. I was looking at 3.25 MOA and 6.5MOA Trijicon RMR's, and you've confirmed for me that I would be much happier with the 3.25MOA dot! Also what kind of shooting glasses are those and do you have prescription lenses in them? I'm struggling to find a bomb proof pair that doesn't bother the side of my head with ear Pro, that I could also put prescription lenses in them.
3 moa on my handguns and 2 or less on my 556 platform's with 3x micro magnifiers. 6 moa.... you may as well use a laser or just shoot without sighting.
6 moa is actually very popular amongst competition shooters ,I'm guessing theory is that bigger dot =faster acquisition, bit it does. Ot work for me. With a bit of stigmatizm, 6 moa "star Burts" a lot and is like a big blur for me. Thanks for watching.
Honesty the dot size doesn't matter as much as i used to think i constantly used 1 moa dots for years and now im at a 6, 8, 10 moa and I dont mind them honestly.
Good video. Thanks for the suggestion from personal experience. I’ve just got my sig 320 x5 legion and still decide to choose between big or small dot, large or medium window (3max Vs 1pro)
Really boils down to personal preference. I know competition shooter that swear by 6 or even 8 moa , but also know many like me that like 3 . Nothing wrong either way.
Bald&curious I own both of those optics and I’ve had at least 9 vipers . What I mean is different companies red dots are not true to what they advertise the dot is in size! Either the RMR is to big or the viper is to small but one of them is wrong!
That really is personal preference. I like 3 MOA as long as it's bright and clear dot. Bigger dot might be quicker acquisition, but everybody is different. Suggest trying few
@@Baldcurious my pcc has an eotech with a teeny dot and a circle around it which I really like. Be interesting to put that dot with a circle on a handgun.
@@Baldcurious, if I had 100% confidence, I wouldn't insist on co-witnessed iron sights. I believe there are two kinds of red-dot sights: those that have failed and those that will fail. Granted, the likelihood is extremely small, and not a huge issue in competition or practice, but it could be a huge issue on a defensive pistol. Anyway, thanks for sharing your perspective. I do agree that a small dot is preferable.
You just answered the exact question with the exact optic I was seeking. Many thanks for the great video.
Great vid. Straight to the point. 3 MOA it is.
I run a 6MOA on my G19x. I have astigmatism and the larger dot works better for me.
I have astigmatism as well and did the same thing , then I went back to 3 moa and seems to be working better for me

Good advise, I'm new to pistol optics, so in just learning the dot, I've put a 5motion my TP9SFX.
Glad I went with a moa3 in my Sig 320. Makes perfect sense now.

still using 3 moa . I have a bit of stigmatism and 3 moan doesn't "starburst" on me as much as 6 moa. I can take more precise shots

Those are Hunter HD glasses and yes they do prescriptions as well , down side is they are not cheap , watch my latest video
@@Baldcurious thank you very much for the reply, will do!
I like my 3 moa dot. I took the front sight off too. Just a distraction
How far out do you zero that 3moa dot and does it stay accurate like 10yards to 35 yards?? Or can you zero it farther and still cover short ranges?
I zero mine at about 15 yards and can still hit 8x10 steel at 100 😀
I appreciate your input on the comparison.
I prefer the smaller dot as well. Carry on
The new S&W plus comes with MOE 5. Do you think is a good idea to beginner ?
really matter of personal preference and eye sight. 5moa should be good all around size
Pulling the front sight off of a range or competition gun is fine but I would never do that on a duty/HD/CC gun especially with Sig optics
Matter of opinion. I'm pretty sure if I have to I can put 2 center mass at 10 yards just point shooting.

What about those with poor eyesight ? I’m only able to see out of my left eye, is 3moa enough ?
That's a good question. You probably lying wanna go with as big of a dot as you can find

Depends what you’re using a RMR 3.25 is bigger than a vortex Viper 6MOA dot...
That doesn't really make a sense. 3.25 moa dot can't be bigger then 6 moa

I have all 6 MOA's but in truth, I am not sure it would make a difference to me. Maybe I am just not to the level where it matters.

To much talk visual of the 3 vs 6 on target including yards .
It's really difficult to show. Every camera will pic it up differently and everybody's eye sight is different. So it would kind of be pointless
