    Glad somebody mentioned how much it affected Everton. If the alternate was true everything would have been much better.

    Everton. European champions 1986.
    As an Everton fan however, I would have to agreed the ban was necessary

    Everton would of won and I’m a Liverpool fan. That team they had was class

    Milan won the European cup because of the Dutch players , if English clubs had not been banned ,they may of come to England ,as historically the Dutch were coming here to play,

    I wish that at least 7 out of 11 players in any starting XI in England were English/British. Too many foreigners in my opinion- that’s not to say that they haven’t been a thrill to watch in the past but it has now long been the case sadly that it is rare to have one or two English/British players in an English team for the last two decades especially in the Premier League.

    Italian football from 1985 onwards was superior to all leagues. The English league barely had any foreigners of note and the very best players were playing in the Serie A. So if English clubs were not banned from Euro competition, they would not have made much inroads in Europe.
