Hi Mrs sutton I love how you do the videos using your frozen items Not all of us have time to can at the moment of picking huge plus to be able to do this at a later point in time and to clean out freezer 😉 Thank you for taking the time to make this video and share it with us all God bless
I recently saw a video on cowboy candy where she used green jalapeños and red jalapeños(they turn red if left on vine longer) the finished product was a vibrant red/green color - perfect for Christmas gifts!
Do I did this with a bit of a twist. I added crushed pineapple, about a 40 % jalapeños to 60% pineapple and I call it cowgirl pineapple. Cook down until thick and over cream cheese 😆 so good with veggie flavored crackers. Loosing weight is a huge bonus! Guess i killed it with the pineapple.
I will try this cowboy candy recipe very soon. My last two canning projects, no lid failures because I used Forjars lids. I am so happy that all my jars are sealing! I’m so glad I took your advice and tried these lids.
Cant wait till I get some jalapeños. This sounds so good. I cant say enough about the Forjar lids Great results for me!!! Highly recommend their lids. Fast delivery and wonderful customer service 👍👍👍
OMG Im with you on the Steam canner. I've been using mine for 40 years. Saves time waiting for water to boil, speeds up batches and way lighter to move to sink. Can't tell you how mush I love it. 😅
These look delicious! I can’t wait to make these! I’ve been wanting to make those for a long time! I didn’t know you could freeze jalapeños! That’s super helpful! I could prep them and freeze them and then can them when I have time! This video was so helpful! Love your singsong cheerfulness and positivity!
Yes I have ordered from them twice already. I am cleaning my freezer out this week also. Canning up jellies and jams. Have some jalapenos in the freezer maybe need to make this to.
I ONLY use ForJars lids, have been for a few months now. I have had 0 fails and couldn’t be happier with them. Also happy to see other content providers are recommending them on their channels. It’s truly a great product. As soon as i can get some jalapeños I’m definitely making these. Thanks again Leisa
One thing I learned about jalapeños is that the more of those little brown marks on the outer skin, the more heat! So if you have ones with smooth shiny skin vs the ones that look to have little "stretch marks" the smooth ones will be less hot than the others! Pretty cool if you're looking for a certain heat level. We dehydrate LOTS of jalapeños in our house... Throw crumbled dehydrated ones into eggs or omelets, grind them into powder & throw that into just about anything!
This is so true. I made a couple of batches after a 6 week stretch without rain. Those jalapenos were stressed and had tons of those marks. I pull out that candied fire and lay wait for the reaction as attitudes change when anyone comments jalapeños aren't hot.😂
I always give canned goodies to my friends. After they get done with it, they send the jar back filled with chocolate goodies for me. They know my weskness.
I love cowboy candy and cream cheese. Love my forjars. Have had no fails so far. Yes love my steam canner. Don’t need to wait for my husband to lift it and carry to the stove or sink.
I sure do use Forjars canning lids. I have not had 1 fail since I started using them. I ordered them on your recommendation about 2 months ago. I was so tired of the other Lids that I used because of the failures for no reason. Thanks for turning me on to them.
This is awesome. My son and I are totally "those people" who love to sweat when eating spicy 🥵 food 😂 can't wait to get this in the canner. Thanks Leisa. Love your videos 😍
I canned some last week cleaning out my freezer. The recipe is used was different from this one. I’m going to have to try this one also. I love the flavor brown sugar adds to food. I also used the Forjar lids and I am loving them!
I love spicy food but oh my I met my match the other day! My husband bought a new pepper for the garden, I think he called it extra hot cayenne. We got the first of them the other day. I broke one open and went to take a bite. It touched my lip and I yelled oh! Wtf?! The actual words lol. He was confused and I tried to get him to try it after I told him. We agreed that they will go on the dehydrator to powder. I was really surprised because I've eaten habeneros and other really hot peppers. I only need a few more jalapeños to try this out. Thanks for recipe!
I have been making Candied Jalapeños for years. My recipe is slightly different from yours. I'll be using yours this time. I have about 6 pounds of frozen Jalapeños and very thankful you shared this video using frozen peppers. I was afraid they wouldn't can up well.
I've been using for jars lids since last summer. I'm sooo happy with them. Timely video... Lol... I've got last year's jalapeno in the freezer and new ones coming on... Time for candy...band yes I'm a face toucher so I do wear gloves 🧤.
Loving my Forjars lids, especially with so many of my ball lids having failures 😕. We buy roasted local green chile by the case every year and I’m going to try the cowboy candy brine on some of it instead of jalapeños this year.
Does anyone know how long it will be shelf stable for once opened and placed in a fridge ?Only have pint jars atm. Also one of my jars is only three quarters full but topped up with the liquid ,does that still store for long term ? So many questions .. 😂 Looks and smells amazing ,thank you for all that you do !
I am a spice wuss extraordinaire. I've bought seed for a heatless jalapeño I want to grow next yr. In your opinion, having tasted this, wld a heatless pepper still give a good result? I also LOVE my steam canner. I bought the other version, the big stock pot with the glass lid that had the temp gauge. It. Is. Amazing. I need a more solid rack to go in it for actual steam canning so the jars don't tilt but I adore adore adore it even with that flaw. The clear lid and multi-use does it for me. I like to see it processing. 😊
I slice jalapeños lengthwise and pickle them. They stay on a sandwich MUCH better that way, and we love them on paninis. I probably would like them candied, but Hubs won't eat them because he's T2 diabetic and doesn't eat sugar, so we just don't have anything but sugar-free sweets, and then only rarely.
I like flavor but not a lot of heat. ALL my children love jalapenos. I do not know where they got it from. They will love this. They even ask for extra on their nachos. Just bought a Ball Blue Book guide to Preserving. LOVE IT.
Leisa- Ball has a candied jalapeno recipe but I don’t like it as much as another I have made-how do you know how much vinegar is enough to make it safe? Thank you
I am stocked up on ForJars lids!! I recently purchased a steam canner. Have not used it yet but planning to soon. Thank you answering a question I had during your video. I wasn’t sure if I could process jams for 45 minutes. So glad you mentioned nothing past 40 minutes when using a steam canner. My elevation is 4,852 feet. What would my processing time be? Again, thank you for sharing. Looking forward to canning this amazing recipe.
I'm making my first batch ever in this steamer (using it for the first time as well) and I can't get it up to high enough heat to get to my dark green zone appropriate for my elevation. I've got it on our glass top stove on the hottest burner. I saw someone on the amazon review say they had to weigh theirs down to get into the proper zone. Help 😒
@@SuttonsDaze thank you. I’m watching your video right now. I have 2.2 lbs of jalapeños and some red, green and yellow bell peppers so I was wondering if I should combine them or do the bell peppers separately using your recipe.
In the instruction book for my steam canner, it had me do a test right off the bat and mark on the gauge how high my temperature could get. It says to use that mark instead of solely the green mark on the dial to start timing. it says to retest it at the start of each canning season, and also if I move the canner from one elevation to another.
@@roxanne533 Awesome answer :D Thank you! So basically, yes, you need to check it, but you don't have to take it to an extension office or anything like that? You can just test at home?
I see you have two different videos for cowboy candy. I have made the first one from 2020. But, not this one. I see it calls for brown sugar and white sugar. Is this really sweet? Is there a reason you changed? Like a change in the home preservation guide or just because. Thank you
Can you add thinly sliced carrots? I purchased 100 Forjars in both sizes. Great customer service and fast shipping. We are so fortunate to have them and just at the right time too.
Leisa YOU REBEL YOU! This is will be another rebel canning I will try. I did beans last wk. I usually follow the guidelines but I trust you whole hearted. Pretty new to canning. Do I process 10 minutes in a water bath canner??? I dont own a steamer.
Ohhhhhhh they look so delicious. I had a quick question. Are those 12 ounce jelly jars able to be used in the pressure canner for meats, or is the glass thinner than the regular mason jars? Thank you

I take the seeds out and pulse them in the food processor so it’s similar to a relish. Less heat to handle on cheese and crackers
That's the way we can our cow boy candy
They are fantastic right out of the jar to snack on or mixed in cream cheese as a cracker spread or bagel spread
Love the lids, and the recipe! Thank you! Hickory Corners, MI
I purchased some ForJars lids based on your recommendation, and using your code, and I could not be happier I did.

My kids can't get enough of this! I chop now instead of slice and makes it easier to smear on everything, but either way they LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
Sooii good!
I can the leftover liquid and use it for a marinade for meat or chicken and use it to baste on the grill! It is phenomenal!
Perfect timing! I have bags of jalapenos in the freezer I need to do something with. Freezer needs to get emptied before the beef gets here!

Candied jalapenos 😮 yum!!!!!!!

I won 4jars lids from Rudy. I have frozen jalapeños from last year. If they come out the same then I might use my frozen ones.
It looks and sounds so good and I love the pepper facts
This is on my list of to try this year and my jalapenos are blooming like crazy!
We love cowboy candy...We can't get enough of it.. LOVE ,LOVE Forjars lids
Do you use the leftover syrup for the next batch or do use it for other recipes
You can do another batch for sure!

I just saw your ring, it looks exactly like mine!!

10 min

Yes

Is the texture different when using frozen vs fresh jalapeños? Do the frozen get mushy after canning??
They are all softer than fresh after canning. Never found them to be mushy
