I recently got my pixel 2, I love it so far I see nothing wrong and my little sister keeps asking the google assistant many random questings just as an excuse to squeeze the phone lol she finds it far too entertaining for some reason then again she's 10 so kids.

Is the unlimited storage only on XL or does that also apply for the smaller pixel 2?
I don't know if there are any exceptions for Pixels, but unlimited storage is for everyone on android already for a while. You can store however many photos and videos you want, but you required to let Google handle its size. It means service could use compression, though it says that it'll be close to the original quality it'll be not in 100% original quality.

I've went from having wireless charging to no wireless charging and don't really care. What I prefer to have is quick charging, which happens via wired charging.

WOW! I been researching google fi & the pixel phones for like 3 days now. Didn't realize it didn't have a microSD slot till I watched this video. No SD, no 3.5mm jack, and the price- pretty sure that IS a deal breaker. SO glad I watched this video. THANK U!

I have the Google pixel 2 XL and haven't had problems that other people on UA-cam have come out with. Like the blue display I don't see it, I compared it with my Google pixel before and nothing was off. Also, wireless charging I could careless.

Skipsotz Gaming I believe the pixel 2 is about the size of a regular iPhone and the same size as the Google pixel. I have the pixel 2XL and I love the battery! It's great I can watch UA-cam and Facebook and snap etc. And end the day with about 35% maybe a little less. Display and camera quality is amazing. That said I haven't use the pixel 2 so display is similar to the same pixel last year. I was iffy because 2Xl is bigger but I love it I wouldn't change my choice. I'd definitely pick this over the iPhone X. I'm saying this after almost having used the phone daily for a month

You can actually use the youtube app for full screen cropped video.
Force stop youtube in the settings, update youtube if not updated.
Then BOOM punch out with two finger and it goes full screen.

Thanks for the honest and in-depth review of this phone. My wife and I are switching from Verizon and iPhones, over to Project Fi and the Pixel 2 XL phones. I really hope that it works out. I’m getting tired of Verizon and Apple’s crap.

I believe that Google messed up with the new Pixel 2 XL, I'm in love with my first Gen pixel and I don't want to complain too much about the headphone jack situation, but during their conference Google didn't even address it, and then they leave us with this dangly USB-C to 3.5mm dongle thing. I don't feel like spending nearly over 1000$ CND on a phone with a dated cheap OLED display, and all of these issues Google isn't fully addressing. I wont even get started on how atrocious the Pixel 2 looks also, but sadly I'm more drawn to that one. I guess I'll wait to see what other smart phones come out this year.

I went with the smaller pixel 2. After 2 years with a very large Moto X Force, I was more than happy to go back to the smaller size. Also, hats off to Google for not dumbing down the smaller phone.
I'll say it now, large bezels don't bother me much. If the biggest gripe about it is, "It doesn't look like a 2017 phone". It don't matter.
I am a fan of wireless charging, and I'm a bit miffed that "it wansn't cool till apple did it." But the speed charging in the Pixel 2 is nice. That was one aspect of the Moto X that I loved, both charging options.
I'm very pleased with the Pixel 2 so far. It's very well thought out, and I'm looking forward to developers come up with when the Visual Core gets activated.
Benjamin Lake same here. I originally got the pixel 2xl but ended up returning it and getting the regular pixel 2. In my opinion the bezels are fine. I don't know why everyone says the bezels date the phone. I had a note 8 and still ended up with this, so screen isn't everything.
At least with some bezels you can hold the phone in landscape mode comfortably without covering any part of the screen with your thumbs

I’m confused how a phone can have the best camera ever but have a crappy screen display? Like in the camera the colors look amazing and the pictures you showed look fantastic, but how can you see that with the muted colors that show up everywhere else? I’m not sure if my question is clear, but maybe you can decipher it lol. and it is only on the xl that there are display issues?

I haven't enjoyed a phone in such a long time battery is amazing, videos are beautiful, camera is amazing, stereo speakers on the front of the device love it.
Highly recommend this phone!
In my experience most people don’t care about or even hate wireless charging until they have it and then they love it.
I have it with the Samsung S7 and iPhone 8, I still don't really care about it.

I've had wireless charging since 2013 and it's really not a deal breaker....
Sorry, but I have wireless charging but I have yet to find a public place in my area that has wireless charging stations. So, it's still a gimmick to me as wireless charging isn't as fast a wired. Plus, I can also use the phone since I have a long charging cable, if I had wireless charging, I can't use it at the same time. So, from my point of view, wireless charging is more of a gimmick that's nice to have, but not an absolute "Must" until more public places have wireless charging stations.
Until your battery degrades from all the extra heat...
So, pixel 2 look dated, but iPhone 8 doesn't --' everything to get free phones to review

The issue is there are inconsistencies with the "first batch" of phones/screens, where some screens have "blue shift" that is barely noticeable, but others are VERY noticeable and turn VERY blue. This seems like a possible QA/QC/Manufacturing issue that I for one am hoping they resolve sooner than later. If you are curious, the google product forums have pictures and images where you can see stark differences from phone to phone.

You have influenced me to not dislike the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
I think the next generation of the Pixel is really going to do wonders. I got a Pixel when it first came out and fell in love. When the pixel 2 got announced they fixed a ton of QoL issues the pixel had (water resistance, no front facing speakers, no AO display if your into that.) Im really hoping Google learns from the Pixel 2 like they did the Pixel, maybe ill finally get an XL if they do.
I really wish you could dedicate a whole video to show your filming gear, and the editing softwares which you use to produce these fantastic videos with this incredible quality! I am really impressed, even the color filters you use are on point. Hopefully you read this comment.

The best thing about the video is the dbrand combo you've selected. Ordered the same for mine !
They added more color options which is great. However, everyone is talking about the screen, but a huge issue is a hissing / coil whine noise is coming from the top speaker. I'm not talking about the clicking issue (they just fixed that). For some reason, if you turn on the flashlight, the whine stops. A fix is supposed to be coming for this soon, though.

My opinion on wireless charging: Thought it is nice going to a place like Starbucks and be able to charge your phone in the table, it is not that convenient, like you can’t really use your phone while charging and it’s very easy to accidentally make your phone fall of the pad.
Thought I should taste it out for a better opinion, thought that’s what I think it would be like

Left out in this video is storage upgrade pricing. Google charges $1.56 per GB of storage in their upgrade.
HTC charges $1.25 per GB for theirs.
Apple charges $.78 per GB for their storage upgrade in the 8/8+/X.

Honestly, I'd say go look at it for yourself. With my 2XL, the blue shift isn't nearly what I see in videos. I'm wondering if the videos bring out more blue than really exists.

Mm watched this not so tech informative, semi review on my Pixel 2XL. I've had it for a couple of days now, and this is what I've experienced. Pure Oreo butter, super fluid phone. Killer battery and very rich features. I like Google's choice of display/color gamut for the Pixel 2XL. So color vibrancy/saturation stays simplistically subjective.
@Johnathan Points that you have possibly missed.
1. The Android 8.1 Update that addresses most of the problems like image retention for nav bars etc.
2. The POLED display issue(kinda blue) is only for a batch of units that managed to ship due to poor QA, this shouldn't be a problem for newly ordered units.
3. Google addressed the dull display issue and explained out how they have calibrated the issue to look more natural. however they are releasing an update that allows user to select a ultra vivid display that boosts saturation to match OG pixels.also extending the warranty for 2 years.
Not a fanboy / not criticising you as one. since this video was released yesterday, it should have included these major updates. They might be deal breakers for many . Like if u agree so Jonathan notices this. :)
The Pixel 2 should've included those Pixel earbuds on Google's shopping website. That would've been really nice, but those ear buds are a bit pricey ($159).

I've had my Pixel 2 XL for a week. The screen on the first one I got flashed every time I cut it off, so I returned it and got a new one from Verizon. The second one has been absolutely flawless. The screen has not been a problem whatsoever to me since Google released the update where you can choose from "Natural, Boosted, or Saturated". No more blue screen. Battery life is great and can last me all day. I find myself using the portrait mode basically every picture I take. This phone is amazing. There is nothing that I do not like about it. Seriously.

Just so you know, you CAN crop into YT videos by using pinch functions. You just pull out like you would zoom out in Google Maps.

Just pinch to zoom in on the UA-cam videos. It'll cut some off the top and bottom, but the screen will be filled in.

Wireless charging is great but limiting at times. If your phone is wired you can still handle it and use it while it is charging up, but with wireless charging it has to be on the wireless charger which still allows you to use it but really limits mobility while charging.

I've had the pixel 2 for a lil over two weeks now and this is hands down my favorite phone. I'm not very techy or a big phone person.....but man - I love this phone. I now go out of my way take photos just to show the quality of pics. It's the "smartest smart phone" I've ever had. I LUV IT!!

5:54 they actually do have a feature to fit the whole video from UA-cam on your screen. All you have to do is pinch to zoom in and it'll fill out the entire screen and vice versa to go back to the black bars.

Just got my pixel 2 xl after only having apple phones my whole life. What I can say about the display is I literally did not even know it was an issue until watching this and still can't see what they're talking about. It looks great and don't let that distract you from getting it. It's a great phone and I'm happy I made the switch.

For $2 on ebay you can get a usb c to 3.5mm jack adapter. For $4 you can get an adapter with charger bypass so you can listen while charging.
I have the Pixel 2 xl and the first 24 hours of using I already started having problems! First, there was a loud high pitched split second screechy noise when playing sounds. This hasn't happened only on the first day of usage. The camera is excellent, but doesn't do well in low lights when going to concerts with super loud music and bass when using the front facing camera - you hear that buzzing noise that you don't hear on iPhones where the sounds are clearer. The screen when using low light isn't that great either. The shadows are amplified that makes it harder to see the details unless you turn the brightness up. Also, when using Snapchat for a period of time, the sound goes completely silent and I have to uninstall and reinstall Snapchat to get the sound working again! The only other app I had problems when using this phone was Instagram where the screen just goes black unless I opted out of the app. This phone isn't worth $1000. I would say it should be worth $750-$800. If you're gonna get an Android, go for the Note or the V30.

For those of you disappointed in your Google Pixel 2 XL dull colored screen.
Google has announced that if enough people tell google to make our screens more colorful beyond the default vivid setting. They will push an update to allow it's users to adjust max colors on our screens.
Step 1: Go-to setting menu on phone.
Step 2: Scroll all the way down to support & tips and tap it
Step 3: Scroll down to send feedback and tap on it.
Step 4:.Type down a few words telling Google that you want your screens more Saturated with colors.
With your help we can get google to give us a software update to make our phones better.
