Good job and great tips. Gonna give it a shot
This is gorgeous
wow nice pretty work mam thanks for giving ideas. 😊
lOOKS WONDERFUL!!
Your walls look beautiful! Thanks for sharing
thank god i found this. i'm going to do my living room up like a smoke stained 1930's sitting room with a record player, lamp and some vintage furniture.
Sounds lovely!
aw man, that's rad! thanks for responding. it's not as cool as it sounds. i live in a suuuper small one bedroom in san diego. i just want my small living room to feel cozy, almost straight out of a noir film ie: tom's apt from "Miller's Crossing" by the Coen bros. Wow, that's pretty specific but it's what I want. Haha! Also, great film. Please check it out if you're a Coen bros fan!
do you have any suggestions on lighting? i want something that's very, very warm, kind've dim, yellow orange-ish and almost theatrical. are these bulbs something that i can find at a lighting store?
I haven't seen Miller's Crossing, but I'm picturing a dark dimly lit room with dark brassy colors; Am I close, lol? For lighting I think 2 or 3 small mismatched secondhand lamps, maybe one of those green desk lamps, something art deco, or even an old oil lamp for decoration. I'm getting carried away, lol! And as long as you stick to light bulbs with a color temperature less than 2500K and low lumens, you'll get that dim old timey look. I think incandescent bulbs might be more what you're looking for, rather than fluorescent or LED. Good luck with your decor! It such a good idea, if you ever post pics I'd love to see them!
oh you're good!
thanks for the tips and I got to say that you look really beautiful.
I'm a remodler/skilled tradesman and you did a fantastic job!
Why thank you, kind sir!
Using this technique for a 1200 square foot retaining wall!. And very similar colors. Looking like it's going to turn out good thank you for your help
Glad you made this video!! 🙂 been looking everywhere for a video like this!! Thank you!
I think I would paint my room white first then grey by tapping it, right?
I was searching around for some techniques found just the perfect thing! Thanks for making the video you're amazing
I'm so glad you found it helpful!
Very nicely Done !
Looks amazing... nice painting too ;)
gorgeous! the wall looks good too
Great video! I enjoy your humor and cute wit. You are truly an amazing artist. I am an artist and growing my repertoire of art skills to give my wood working projects very unique finishes. Ive been mixing paints and stains and sealers to make very different looks. You are an inspiration.
Michael Dunkin thanks so much, it's great to meet another artist! I'm curious about your projects; I hope they're going well!
Loved it ❤️♥️♥️
I'm so glad I found your vid......I had a family member to paint my home....worst mistake......he made an absolute mess.....paint on the floors ..on my furniture.....the dogs.........he told me told me he would only charge me 300.00.....well I didn't know about painting.....but I did know I wanted something that would last....so I did my research and went with the more expensive.....with primer included......I had lots of holes and dings in the wall.....I got all the putty and sanding paper.....brushes....you get the picture.....on top of that I had to pick him up daily and take him home.....well I work from home so I was in my office while he painted.....oh and he told me he painted for 20 years.....well I would come out periodically to check things out and notice how he was not taping off the base boards and window sills......and would putty on the holes but NOT smooth it out ......my furniture was not covered ......he took the colors and mixed them o make another color...
A great job starts with great hair, obviously ;)
Hi Sabrina, thank you so much for posting. I did my bedroom super quickly. My only regret is that i didn't find your straight talking video sooner- instead of the waffling pretentious post that made me nervous. Thanks so much- your video made me confident and the results are beautiful. ZX
Zinzi Minott You're so welcome! I'm glad it was helpful! (even though I know the video quality isn't very good, lol.) Comments like this really make my day. I'm curious what colors you used....
You are very welcome- I am based in the UK so I used some colours tht may not be directly available in US but, I used B&Q's ( our home depot) Taupe (kitchen and bathroom emulision) and which was my main colour, I used a glaze for that. Then I used some fancy paints Craig and rose, one called Fresh plaster and the other called Regency cream. I then used 3 other B&Q emulsions called Grey state, light rain and muted pink. I painted ontop of a kinda ugly magnolia wall but it really helped as I wanted to go for a lighter, plastered wall effect, as if I had stripped the wallpaper off. It really worked and only took me 6 hours over two days. I would have finished in one session but I had to head out. It is a shame we cant post pictures here but it is super pretty and made me SO SO happy :)
Zx
You, my dear, are what's called an 'artist.' And a very, very talented one, at that.
Sabrina...I have looked and looked for the perfect wall technique and yours is it💜. I want the full effect...SO what piece of cello music is playing in the background?
I have a video similar to this my wife and i done. Great job btw
Excellent! :-*
One more time i wasnt paying attention
I'm doing this for my room. Wow👌🏾
nashmeiyaa SYYES Awesome! I do this all over my home, I love it
+Sabrina Skelter how long does it take you to paint the whole apartment?
this is awesome
Thank You! 'Twas my very first video, lol
Inspiration
David Broadway Thanks!
It's so pretty. I couldn't help but notice that you got some on ceiling. Did you paint ceilings too, after the walls?
Looks sick! Been thinking to do this to my new place but time is not really on my side. How long did it take you to finish this?
If I remember right I think it took me a couple of days just for that little spot. I need long breaks in between sessions, so I can go back and see how I really feel about it, what colors it needs and where, etc. I'm kinda slow, I take my time, and of course if it's your first time you'll take longer. I hope you get the chance to do it though, it's so satisfying!
Mahalo from Maui! you helped alot..about to start a wall in my livingroom...figured i better watch some pros first...also pondering doing something from the floor, just partway up...and the rest faux...and putting up a couple strips of bamboo or something to hide where they join. Does that make sense? lol Much Aloha!!
+Tattoo Nancy Glad I could help! You're project sounds interesting, you should post pics of your progress!
The way this video goes I am afraid to fall in love with ya gil!
What kind of sponge did you use?
Fantastic wall painting. I love it and am going to try it in a room. Question: Is Your base a plaster wall? Do You think this is makeable on a wallpapered wall and how do I go from there?
Hmm, I'm not sure exactly about the wall, but it looked like painted plaster.
I definitely think this could be awesome on wallpaper! I think it would have to have some sort of sealant or coating first to protect it from the water and scrubbing. You could do a test on a small piece of wallpaper first.
hi, I am about to work on something similar on my kitchen and would love it if you could give me exact paint colors you used including base color. Do you use any glaze? Thank you so much!
Hi! Well, I'm not sure of the exact base color, it was the color of the whole apartment when I moved in, but its sort of a taupe-beige color. The paints I used for sponging were acrylic craft paints: Americana - desert turquoise, slate grey, zinc, midnite blue, neutral grey (discontinued, sadly) and Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Metallics- gunmetal, brushed pewter, titanium, nickel black. I might've used a 'glaze medium', but you really don't need one. They're really just a waste of money, I found out. Just squish a damp sponge into your paint and that's pretty much your glaze right there. If you have any more questions let me know, and I'm sure your kitchen will come out beautiful! If you post pics online please share the link, I'd love to see them!
Hi princess.great work.mr.caribbean in myc.which state you in?
I love your wall.. BEAUTIFUL
but the background music was distracting
making it hard to hear and understand you at times.
Thanks! Lol, yes it was pretty bad. It was my first video and I had no idea what I was doing editing-wise. Hopefully I’ve improved over the years, at least a little. 😉

Your Technique is Beautiful
Hey. Really enjoyed seeing this technique. I think the music was a little loud and distracting but that's ok.
Thank you! And yes, the music was waaay too loud. ‘Twas my first video and I had a lot to learn about editing. Sorry about the cringe but I’m glad you liked the technique, lol 😆
ESTAS BIEN BUENA
Id tab dat
Foda!
How’s that boyfriend 6 years later
Me from buying more paint.....at the end when ur suppose to touch up....the colors that were mixed he didn't have so he just slapped the color closest to it on the wall......I was so frustrated .after months.....he was finished.......and I wanted him gone....he gave a bill of 4700.00.....wth? Really!!!!.....I gave him 500.00 and have been miserable every time I wake up and see my walls.....and I have paint on the floors and in the carpet ....on my lamp shades......well I have been watching every video I can so I want throw up every morning.....and I think going to try this technique.....it can be any worst.....I feel better telling my disaster......
Wow, that's awful! I'm sure you can do a much better job yourself!
Need a helper? Lol
music waaay tooo loud, dont need it, it s not a documentry
Have you seen the date on this video? You’re a bit late. I figured out my music volume *years* ago. 🙄
@@Skelterina I liked the music... I found it rather soothing. :)
I love the variance in colour and the play of light and shadow. Just beautiful...And I could see why that wouldn't work for your bathroom.
It just look like you have dirty walls😑
thats the look im going for. if it looks like its old like from the 1800's and stained and just like so trashy.... its called the vintage look. when artists are tired of everything looking perfect and they see old stuff and they find beauty in it. this is my opinion -eileen Nice comment though i was like yasss someone who finally notices how dirty this looks so that i can tell them thats suppose to be beautiful when it looks really really dirty just the way i want it to look
if you'd see my room you'd see what i mean you'd think its nasssty but it's clean. and i like it. and i have a lot of old plants instead of growing them i kill them and hang them upside down on my walls and stick them in vases without water till theyre brown. yeah
I was impressed with your technique until I got to the close of your video. I didn't think it was necessary to cuss.......like when you said GDI.......a lot of us find it offensive.........only because of this I won't consider recommending your technique......sorry.
Good. Only people that say Goddammit are allowed to use my technique. 😁
@@Skelterina 😂😂😂 Fucking right!!
