The thing about The Sixsters (and The Warning, too) is their incredible creativity. Each song is very different and makes you wonder "how did they come up with this?"

Kate Kuziakina is a drum prodigy and the soul of the band. She's very contained with the band, but look for her covers since she was 11-12... amazing.

*"For Us ... For Me ..." 😢 backstory:*
This was the last song the keyboardist (IDK their names yet) was with the band. Her family went back to Ukraine. She was with the band from the beginning.
Leaving the drummer as the only original member left in the band that started The Sixsters 6 years ago.
The keyboardist in the video for *Feels* is the newest member of the band. She replaced the keyboardist who just left. Also, that wasn't the drummers full set in the video *Feels.* Wasn't enough room in that hallway.

I wrote this on another reactors site, a line-up history.
Just to give you a history of the band line-up. Formed in 2018, their videos started appearing in 2019.
      First line-up 2019.
Kate (drums) Taya (bass) Maya (keyboards) Alona (guitar) Ira (lead guitar) Victory (Vocals)
By late summer 2019 two Kira’s appeared with the band, Kira Panchenko on bass, although Taya was still with the band, I’m thinking she was the furthest away and youngest member, most videos after this had Kira, Taya occasionally. The other Kira, Kira Kasyanova replaced Victory as lead singer. This line up was steady until the start of 2021.
Kate (drums) Kira P. and Taya (bass) Maya (keyboards) Alona (guitar) Ira (lead guitar) Kira K. (Vocals)
The first video of 2021 had Maria join in place of Alona.
Kate (drums) Kira P. (bass) Maya (keyboards) Maria (guitar/vocals) Ira (lead guitar) Kira K. (Vocals)
They has 3 videos with this line-up then by the end of summer 2021 Anna replaced Ira. In November 2021 they released a complete concert, very good sound recording as well.
      Live 2021.
Kate (drums) Kira P. and Taya (bass) Maya (keyboards) Maria (guitar/vocals) Anna (lead guitar) Kira K. (Vocals)
Then the war interrupted and they regrouped in Germany, 5 of the 7, they recorded Happiness and Hold with this line-up.
      June 2022.
Kate (drums) Kira P. (bass) Maya (keyboards) Maria (guitar/vocals) Anna (lead guitar)
Then by the end of the summer Kira. P’s family returned to Ukraine and they recruited another Ukrainian refugee who I assume they knew through the Kiev Rock school, Polina.
      Nov 2022.
Kate (drums) Polina (bass) Maya (keyboards) Maria (guitar/vocals) Anna (lead guitar)
Finally in September 2023, Maya’s family returned home and Sofia replaced her. Current line-up.
Kate (drums) Polina (bass) Sofia (keyboards) Maria (guitar/vocals) Anna (lead guitar)

Great band. I've followed them since before the war ( they've been at this for 6 years now. The oldest is only 18. Some of them were like 9 when they started) This is probably the best thing they've done ( so far). They're great kids, they've been very active in helping children and families in Ukraine that weren't fortunate enough to get out. Yeah I'm a fanboy, sue me lol. Great reaction!

    • @DanL---2024
      @DanL---2024 4 місяці тому

It's my understanding that Maria (singer) was 17 when the album came out, Polina (bass) is 16, Kate (drums) is 15, Anna (lead guitar) is 20 or 21, and Maiia (piano) was 14 or 15. Maiia was replaced by Sophia, and it's not clear how old she is, maybe 17? from the videos. I may be a little off, so if someone knows more please correct me. But yes, pretty young to have such great compositions and musicianship.

Do you like toms?? Then totally check out "Fever"! Actually, Kate Kuziakina, the drummer, is very conscious of her musical choices. She is a monster when she wants to be. Far from being someone just learning their chops, she is a drum prodigy that won the global Hit Like A Girl competition in her age group (8 to 18) when she was only 9. There are a lot of videos of her at 8 or 9 totally killing it. I'll put a link below. Massive toms in this, and check out the grin on her face right before the epic double bass part at the end! 😮

Kate and Pau are two entirely different drummers. Pau is a beast while Kate is not. Also, Kate's only 15, Pau's 22 and has been at it much longer. This is a young band. Currently Maria, the singer, is 17, Anna, the lead guitarist is the oldest at 21, Polina, the bassist, is 16, and Maya, the keyboardist is 14 and no longer with the band as she had to return to Ukraine with her family. There is a fundamental difference between the Sixsters and the Warning. TW are three sisters from Mexico and have clearly had the advantage of working together far longer than the Sixsters. TW didn't have their lives disrupted because of a stupid war. The Sixsters have gone through many personnel changes some due to the war, other's for other reasons. Right now Kate is the only original member remaining with the band. They had to relocate to Germany and learn a new language. Maria, Polina, and Anna are the only ones that speak English. TW has had the same three from the beginning. But as for Kate's drumming on this song, it wasn't a drum-centric song. If you want to hear and see Kate really kicking it, check out City, Fever ( I think she was only 12 on this one) and the outro to I Stare at You. I'm a fan of both The Sixsters and The Warning, as well as Plush, and they all have their own unique styles and instead of trying to compare one to the other, just enjoy what each band gives us and be glad they're doing it. The Sixsters need exposure and lots of it. There are a lot of rock fans that have no idea what they're missing by not knowing about The Sixsters. Give them love and spread the word. Lord knows they deserve it.

No NoNo TheSiXsters are Not warning influenced in ANY way. AND Katya won HLAG (in the under 18) at 9yrs. old and in Finland and else where. She’s sat in with Adult Ukrainian bands TV. yada yada. They are not and don’t want to sound like Classic rock or f’n Metal or the Warning LOL. They know what they want & play what they want. Their age is not a factor. They are never going to fit someone’s preconceived idea of what Their Rock Music is. when people don’t understand then they circle back around to the age thing (maybe they’ll learn to play the music I expect some day and be good).
