Absolutely brilliant reaction again. I've loved this clip for years, he's so so good at playing his character. Must have definitely been a world record amount of F**ks in the New York section.
As a German speaker, I sometimes wonder how much his audience understands when Al speaks German. He anglicises the grammar a bit, but, otherwise, it's perfectly serviceable. I suppose it must just be cultural osmosis which means that most Brits understand what they need to. I have to say I was a bit worried about Megan not getting the world cup references, but hey, it worked out fine.

The London Boss's mentioning his black Labrador is a reference to famous British WW2 movie which was made pre PC days. "The Dambusters" where the Squadron Leader had a black Labrador whose name rhymes with "trigger" - i'll leave you guess that one!
it was a real dog. apparently, back in the day it wasn't viewed as an offensive word in the U.K. The dog's gravestone was later changed to remove the name.

Much respect for pointing out that Al Murray 'The pub landlord' is a character. You wouldn't believe the amount of comments I've read of people who were completely oblivious to this fact. He is actually a very well read WW2 historian and I've seen a couple of his lectures at Oxford (I think) University. And I can certainly attain, he is not like this in real life!
Hi Megan, Al is brilliant,he has a history degree from Oxford,he displays his knowledge in his sketch" Name a Country We have Defeated Them " ,another sketch you might like is "What Hell is Like in Other Countries" both are fun , ❤❤.😮
Hi Megan. Hope you are well. Trivia: Did you know, that when Al Murray came up with the character of "The Pub Landlord," Al Murray decided that the character needed to be bald...so Al shaved all his hair off ! That is, I suppose you call, "dedication to your art"...or "bloody stupid !" 😉
20:08 the dog's name he can't use in the workplace was a black labrador called the N-word who was owned by wing commander Guy Gibson in ww2 and which was run over just before the dam busters mission that Gibson led.
Hi Megan, Fritz Messerschmitt on extension 109 was a reference to the WW2 fighter plane, the Messerschmitt Me109, all the other German names were WW2 aircraft makers, Heinkel, Dornier, Junkers and Focke Wulf, apart from Fraulein Tiger Tank of course. All the Japanese names are big Japanese manufacturers, but he did make one mistake, Sony are a Korean firm. Next one to try is "All Jobs Are Terrible".
Al Murray is actually one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable people on 2nd world war history he’s just also madly funny so can incorporate it into his acts
Morning Megan & Happy Saturday! I love ❤️ watching your videos & have a beautiful weekend! By the way the weather here in London will be 28°C next week! 🙄
loved your reaction megan..... there are many great videos of al murray...i think you would like another of his called..all jobs are terrible. i counted 56 f bombs in about 1min 40secs of that section
lol, it's not so uch "Nazi" strict, it's that Germany has an image of being highly proficient, no fun, all business, however they do LOVE their football 😂
Very funny but he's going in the wrong direction... It wouldn't be London - Frankfurt - Tokyo - San Francisco - New York, because of the way the world spins it would have to be London - New York - San Francisco - Tokyo - Frankfurt - London 🌍🌎🌏🌍 🤣🤣🤣
Its no good just watching that particular sketch, you need to watch the whole show to pick-up the rolling gags he uses (Like Bob-Hope in the Road films) and you also need a good idea of British cultural attitudes past and present to fully understand some of the characterisations and throw-away lines.
Errr.. Errr.. Ms Ruth... how's the characterisation going to be funny if its played straight down the middle - think John Cleese as Basil Fawlty in "The Germans" episode.?
Megan. You looked confused about the labrador reference most of the audience got at 20 mins. The 617 Squadron, the dambusters, of WII. Their Commanding Officer Guy Gibson had a dog named n......ger as in derogatory term for coloured people. Brits have a long and odd memory for such things 😅
Love this one. He just missed the Sydney traders who have been awake for days on a coke fueled commodities frenzy.
😂 nice one!

We can usually work it out, same with Spanish and Italian, French is piss easy
I had the same thought as a Dutchman. 😄
Al speaks German fluently, the grammar is deliberate, I guess he got you
@@andyb7963 When I said "he anglicises the grammar a bit" I did mean it was deliberate.

This closer to the truth than most people realise.

In my opinion, it's Al's finest performance, this one.
Agreed!
WITHOUT A DOUBT. AND I'VE WATCHED IT AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES
really great reaction, ive seen it many times but i enjoyed seeing it again

Al's good with German. I read somewhere one of his grandparents was Austrian. He also speaks excellent French and did a stand up in French in France

Al speaks German and French fluently. He also speaks passable Italian.
It surprised me when I first looked him up and found he had a degree in modern history from St Edmunds in Oxford.
Edinburgh and Beyondis one of his best. Works the audience beautifully.
Finally, I have a use for the compulsory German & French, that I was taught at school, from 11-13 years old. ha ha ha
