It's great to see that she's still dancing, but what I find even more admirable is that she still takes classes! There's a dance studio in The Lower Wast Side of Manhattan with a classroom at street level. That room had a large window for anyone walking by to witness a class. My job had me in that area a few times a week, and having dancer friends, I'd occasionally see one of them in there taking the House class. I would watch long enough to wave hi in between them learning choreography. One night I walked by to see if one of my friends were there, and Toni Basil was in that classroom near the front as a student, practicing and taking instruction. Incredible to know that she doesn't just sit on her laurels but also continues to seek hone her craft by actively seeking knowledge.

@@seanb9815 it doesn't come across that way.
@@Blondie101010100 Happy now.
@@seanb9815 don't waste your time with someone who clearly have a comprehension deficiency, their name says it all. You compared her to YOUNG people so where on earth is the confusion. 🤔
The second segment this woman wore 3” heels and danced like that ! Amazing 🤩
She's probably one of the top 5 female soul music dancers of all time. Many have copied her moves and she set a standard. God bless her..
She is one of the GREATEST!! A TOTAL GODDESS!
This reminded me to dance! :)
Yes, I was going to dance today, but I completely forgot to
I can’t dance like that at 50. She is an inspiration!!
I think she's great and have always admired her but seeing her moves in this video just blows my mind. She is still so awesome. Shows old age is what you make of it. What an inspiration. 💝
You are so right on old age jay jay . Trouble is something s can trip u up when you least expect them.
Toni basil much respect we can still get down in our 70’s she’s most definitely an inspiration to keep groovin n moving!!! Campbellock it out Toni!!!! 👍👍👍👍🔥🔥🔥🤩🔥🙏
The secret is: Don't stop. Don't stop dancing and being physical. Great upload. Thank you, Mark.
She looks like she's 74 from a universe where people live an average of 300 years.
Hahaha!! Love that comment 👍
Yep, she is an Agardian.
@@lb8853 I think you mean Asgardian. 😊
TOTALLY
Exactly!
That was insane. Never seen anything quite like that before. She's still hot too.
She really is!
@David Lytch What are you, america's spokesboi?
She’s doing many dance styles created by African Americans. She’s amazing, especially at 74!
Just where does 'America' get I was being sarcastic from? The truth is self-evident from just watching her and seeing her, for the founding Fathers' sake!!
Also did Bowie's choreography for his Diamond dogs and Glass spider tours and even inspired his 1975 album cover Young Americans with a cover she did for After Dark magazine in 74. She's iconic.
Has everybody forgotten that she was also a founding member of pop and lock crew The lockers with Shabba Doo Quinones? A fuckin pioneer rite here💪💪💯
I never heard that... really? 🤩
@@cblack831 No 🧢 my girl google it

She's as good a dancer or better than in the 80s. And she looks like she's aged about three weeks.
@@TUO__ so this isnt impressive to you?
Yep - she looks great, and still has the moves!!! Wasn't she a choreographer in her earlier years?
@@marialeach8960 of James Brown no less...
She looks good for her age no doubt. But 3 weeks? Cmon.
StuUnger...You're so charming. Not! Stop being a Debbie Downer.
This is impressive for a 30 year old, for a 74 year old, it's INCREDIBLE.
just keep fit and be blessed with not a broken body, or if she has one be rich enough to get it fixed
30-year-olds are young. Please stop making 30 look like old age. God
@@KimmiiaS agreed, how can they call it old.
@@sarabb2056 in the era of tiktok a 26-year-old gets compliments like this " you look good for your age ". When I was 15 , I considered 30 young even up to 45 because all the hot main actresses of the movies I liked were in their 30s. Now at 26, I am forced to feel like I am gonna turn into ashes at 30.
@@KimmiiaS yeah, but it shouldn't be that way at all. Personally, I don't consider people old until they are like in their 70s, if then. For example, I once knew a woman who was 75 years old and she was still dancing on tables. So you really just can never tell. Age is and should be viewed as just a number.
Brilliant dancer and pioneering choreographer is Toni Basil. At 74, and she is still as flexible and supple as a kitten- truly amazing
This woman has incredible moves also I’m trying to see where she is 75 years old. She looks 40 something!! Now that’s a bad woman!
One of the original MTV videos!! We all thought she was just a one hot wonder..wow..she deserves her props for her career-oriented
Oh, she goes way back: ua-cam.com/video/QZ6fPc4krq0/v-deo.html
Toni got moves so soulful !!
She was already 39 when she made that "Mickey" video.
🤣😂 you KNOW 👏🏼
I can't believe she's 74, she only looks 50 at most and the way she moves is amazing
I just said the same thing to my husband when I called him over to see the video. He didn't believe it either.
She sure can dance, but she looks a LOT older than 50. 50 is not that old really.
@@annwithaplan9766 first of all I know 50's not that old, as I'm almost 50 myself and secondly I suppose it's a matter of perception as to how old each of us thinks someone else may be, but in my opinion I still think she looks no where near 74, i certainly hope I look that good at that age but I kinda doubt I will as I haven't lead a very healthy lifestyle, but hay ho
@@ginnied7346 - I'll be 64 this year, I thought she could be at LEAST my age. Perception, I guess. Yeah, I'd like to look that then, too. : )
At 57 years old, I’m more impressed with how organized that garage is.
🤣😂🤣
Nice pair of bongos too😏
😂
Crazy!! I'm far younger but can't move like that. What a talent what an inspiration. Toni!!
Paying my respects to Shabadoo of the lockers and here’s where I ended up. Toni’s still baaaaaadddddd!
Would love to see her do a routine with Christopher Walken!
Now that would be, TOO COOL !!
Yes yes yes! Most people don't know Walken started out as a dancer on Broadway. They would be great together.
There is a video on UA-cam with Walken dancing to " Come and get your love" by Redbone that is incredible. He's in what looks like a huge hotel lobby.
Oh, and ME TOO!!! What a trip that would be!
Yes!
Unbelievable doesn’t look out of place dancing with someone much younger than herself absolutely brilliant
Good point as It was very fluid.
It's obvious she's more limber than he is. He looks clumsy in comparison.
I am an 80's child and I must say as a big fan of hers, she is great! Just goes to show you that you are as young as you feel and age is just a number! WOW!
Exactly why I told my Southern Baptist parents as a kid, ‘dancing will keep you young and your heart free.’
Truth!
She's also been a vegan since the '90s, so there's that...
This is what BLESSED truly looks like. BLESSED AND VIBRANT
Who ever disliked that video has jealous green bones....The woman is fabulous 😍
Seriously, who could dislike that? 553 dislikes? that's crazy,, maybe it is the young twerkers, and yes jealous
She so incredible
@Tay Woode lol....not far from the top truth my dear....
My thoughts exactly! Even if she was horrible- which obviously she’s not! - how could you dislike someone moving like that at her age alone? I can’t and I’m much younger. Toni’s the coolest.
Mr Mark Evans, thank you for supporting her and encouraging Who knows how many others!! I'm watching this in April 2022 at 70.. I like to dance and am gonna do so every chance I get!! ❤️ To all!!
I dislocated a hip watching her and I'm only 60.
I severed a hamstring and I'm 50
🤣🤣
Hahaha, I took a Qwik nap! Haha
LOL
This is adorable. Anybody who gave this a dislike needs Jesus, Buddha, and the Justice League to straighten them out.
