You make it look so easy. Thank you! I am only 54 and used to dance and bop around everywhere I went. I came down with transverse myelitis in sept2020 resulting in spinal cord injury and a form of paralysis that requires me to have my heels firmly planted with each step when learning to walk again. I am going to follow your tutorial because I think this is an achievable goal. Will start using a frame for support and progress to dancing around a walking stick once I have it licked. A different kind of shuffle than what I am starting with😉😂

Jaydaydesign: I hear you my friend. I was really badly injured when somebody hit me from behind. I had a little sports car, and he had an early 80s Oldsmobile. The bedridden years were no joke. You have lots of company in this journey, who have ended up there in a lot of ways; hopefully some people who have Successfully dealt with disability from the exact same cars as you have, why leave some comments that might be useful and encouraging. There is a bit of a roundabout way to get the muscles working again. You start with a small one that you can still move easily. And then you just modify the movers until you’re stretching or engaging the muscles next to it. Before you know it, you’ve got a wider range of motion. You might also find out it could help you to exercise in a swimming pool. Most of the people with whom I’ve worked I found that they like to rent a private or hotel pool for an hour or two at a time to work together. It truly helps to have the buoyancy on your side when you’re trying to get your range of motion back, at least for everybody I’ve ever known that’s had to go through it. And it’s certainly fine to use a PFD or a life jacket to feel safe and that situation if you need to. If you find a buddy to take with you that you could have a little bit of fun with, it’ll take your healing time down quite a bit. Physiotherapist might be able to help you on this journey. They have specialized training, and can do a lot, both passive and active, to speed your progress. I can hardly wait till you come back here sometime to say that you were able to finally start this journey to shuffle dancing.❤️
I love how you get technical about things. I find when you understand what's going on technically speaking rather than just trying to mimic what the other person is doing, it's much easier to learn.
Exactly. I had trouble at first until i figured out what exactly was going on. I knew it would help others also so i made a video. watch some of my other videos. its so odd how this video is viewed more than other i make.

I liked this so much that I created the taped markings on two separate 3'x3' insulation boards (shiny side up). Over the past hour I have accomplished more than I have in occasional practice sessions over the past several months. I admit it is easy for an old guy to hurt his knees doing these moves the wrong way. Your slow, right-brain explanations, have got me doings these more safely, provided I don't get too excited and move too quickly, slip, and fall on my can as I'm showing off to my wife =). A lot of shuffle dance tutorials seem to focus more on the instructors dance ability rather than on clearly defined instructional techniques. Thanks!!

JC - You broke the code to teaching Dance on UA-cam ~ My Man!! I have seen complicated dance pattens in books and have thought that's crazy!! How can anyone learn dance from a book - with UA-cam technology YOU made the patterns interactive and repeatable for home viewers! You are the first I have seen and I have been surfing for three years. Thanks for keeping the focus on your feet and the floor. Shuffle dance is unique the flair with the arms will flow later. In Dance it all starts with the feet and moves up & on ward! BRAVO in your teaching technique! This is an awesome tutorial. I have watched other tutorials on shuffling; it looked easy but still could not get it. You taught the two essential foot positions: V-shaped, heels together, at the beat; heels away from each other in between. Thank you!
I'm not surprised to see older people here. The swing is from the 20's and up to the late 50's, this is another revival & solo version, so yes, of course they are here! Look at Jazz and how people dance in country and more, the swing is there, in one form or another. I'm happy to see it is back again, and making everyone want to dance, dance, dance. Thank you for the great tutorial.
I first saw the videos of the Chinese people doing this Shuffle dance and it looked so cool, I wanted to learn. I use to stay in shape in the 70's disco dancing, but as I started working and having a child to look after that all fell by the way side. I'm over weight, not too fat, but fat enough. I've put on about 60ls. and want to get in shape. I'm retired and I have the time and when I saw this dancing, I just fell in love with it. I'm determined to learn and I appreciate you putting this video out. 67 isn't too old, right?
I believe... plus if you really do it... not only will you dance amazing but you will enjoy your new body.. check out edm festivals as people shuffle ..plenty of youtube videos. Plus anything you practice over and over only becomes easier. NO MATTER what. If you do know something, its because you havent studied it or practiced it. Everyone is a white belt at first, even i was.
This is by far the best video I found that goes slowly into the detail of how to do this dance. I have been wanting to learn it for a while and cannot figure out how its done. I'm going to follow and learn all the different lessons on how to achieve this dance from this UA-camr. I'm 60 and want to learn this so bad as its fun and good excersize. Thanks for making this video. I'm going to lay my blue tape down today. Hee hee
51 years old. I've wanted to learn this for years. FINALLY! People are teaching! Yay!!! And for the younger people reading this...this will be you too 😉 Let's do this! Maybe we should figure out a way to get the older people together and make our own videos hahaha
Thank you so much for your tutorial in shuffling. I am in my mid 70's and I will definitely practice until I learn, you are the person I want to meet, very nicely explained, also nicely spoken.. well done. Blessings to you from my heart
This is so clearly shown from simple to complex. I was sure I wouldn't be able to figure this out with no dance background, but I can follow your method explained. Thank you!
Love the details given here, thank you! I used to dance in my late teens and twenties, just night clubs and around the house. I’m 57 now and so out of shape but I still feel the music trying to make me move. It just feels SO awkward now! I ha eloped watching all the shuffle videos. So thank you for sharing this! 😊
Wow I love it ... I'm a drummer and I can see your point in the beat with the heals, I think your awesome for helping us people out here! Thank you so very much !!!
I think this is a real good overall nimbleness exercise for all ages, even for seniors, and much easier on joints than jumping rope. I'm gonna learn to do it. Thank you for the tutorial.
I'm 74 in Dec. I'm also learning balette. Tough but take it slow you will get their. So fun to dance an so good for us seniors. Not dead yet so get out their an show em all. Also thank you for the lesson. You made it easy for even me. God bless us sll.
That’s the very first thing I thought of as well. It also has some of the Charleston in it as well. Love all six of your shuffle tutorials! They're done exactly the best way for me to learn! Please do some of the other shuffle moves also! Thanks so much!
Your teaching is very clear and detailed. A pity I'm too old to do it. I watch the Chinese shuffle dances. Lovely. Thank you. May many people receive joy from your lessons.
Yep me also, yours is the first tutorial I can understand. Awesome bit by bit ill get it 63yrs young and its a brain exercise also 😂 thanks for your breaking it down so well all the others are just too quick 😊😊😂
Ok, OMG, I have never danced before, and I keep watching dance videos and I'm all amazed at the people in them. So I found this video to start learning..... you do a great job, and I am going to be watching this and trying every day. You took something that seemed like magic and broke it down.... now I just need to keep practicing. Good lord, I should join a class just so I can make all the other people feel better, lol Actually, I think I'm going to record myself today, day 1, then every few days, just to see my own improvement, lol
Thank you. I'm 76 and I really want to do the shuffle. Following your video made me realize how much strength I don't have in my legs. So it's going to be useful strengthening exercise too.
William, you are absolutely right! In fact, the major bulk of this video is spent breaking down that particular shuffle move which -- I agree -- essentially *is* the mashed potatoes. You had this thing down YEEEERS ago! (Just noticed - if you hit "show more" in the description, he points out what just what you said. That this dance was originally called the mashed potato. You go, Will!! :))
@@drewga403 Still gotta go back a little further, that's not quite the origin! It's a 1920s jazz dance called The Charleston, originating in Charleston, SC. Here's Al Minns & Leon James bringing it to the masses in some of the earliest footage of this style. ua-cam.com/video/s58iTzznkp0/v-deo.html
Whether or not it is too late, is for sure NOT determined by age! Age says nothing about your shape! It may be way too late for you at 20 yrs and you may start training like there is no tomorrow at 75! I would have loved doing this, great videos, but sadly it is not for me, even if I am about your age...
I think you're the best in making it so easy, because you've marked the floor. I saw so many videos, yours is certainly the best. Thank You for making it and uploading it. Hopefully, I learn it. And the best was telling us that it is easier than skipping a rope.

It'd be a fun workout 😎
judy valencia it's never too late Judy, you go get shuffling girl.
@@primatearmy Thanks. I'm going to try!

There you go. Me, too.
Did you learn Gia?
It’s the mashed potato, everything repeats itself eventually.
Yay!!!
And for the younger people reading this...this will be you too 😉
Let's do this! Maybe we should figure out a way to get the older people together and make our own videos hahaha
Im 50. I eat a lot of salads & superfoods.
Thank you!
I'm 71 , I like the electric slide and the Cupid shuffle. I'm gonna learn more line dancing.
Go for it! It’s basically the mashed potato, everything repeats itself eventually.
Looks like a variation of the Charleston..... foot wise! Love it and will learn it.....Fun and healthy!!

Thank You so much for showing how to dance the shuffle. I'm gonna give it a try.

I think this is a real good overall nimbleness exercise for all ages, even for seniors, and much easier on joints than jumping rope. I'm gonna learn to do it. Thank you for the tutorial.
Absolutely love the step-by-step pace of this video! Thank you for teaching a beginner like me!

基本の動きも説明があるので 基礎から 確実に学べる‼️ こういうの探してた‼️
The breakdown of the dance is superbly explained..... easily the best "how to" video on UA-cam
It’s like a 60’s dance, the mashed potato, the way you show it.
Yes! That’s what I said. Nothing new. Just changes slightly. Everything repeats itself eventually.
That’s the very first thing I thought of as well. It also has some of the Charleston in it as well. Man, I guess I sound Old 👵🏼👵🏼👵🏼and I’m only 56 yrs young🤣🤣🤣🤣 but my Grandmother taught me those two dances because she knew that I Loved dancing and I wanted to learn all kinds of dances and I have. Different culture one too.
@@desireea.thomas2419 Not really, i just watched and made exact same comments. What goes around comes around I guess.
This might, infact - be the best tutorial ever.
It certainly is
Thank you for your tutoring . I watched so many videos but I couldn’t do it because it was in Chinese language . Your tutoring is so clear and very helpful. Now I can learn how to do shuffle dance .
You are an excellent teacher. Very few teachers can break the intricate be steps to a task.Iwas an intervention specialist, special coordinator admin.and professor of moderate, severe and profound students for 42 years. Thank You.
I'm 64 & learning it too, it fascinating, i love it. My family & grandchildren will be so surprised.
Turned my phone backwards, followed along and it worked. Great tutorial. Thanks!
You're video title is correct.....this IS the best tutorial ever!
I've tried so many other beginner tutorials and this is THE BEST one! thank you so much!!
I'm 61 and it's so good to hear all the boomers into this
I'm obsessed with learning this!
Thanks for your teachings, very easily to learn with the lady who is over 70 yrs-old💝🙏😍
Do your guests shuffle when they enter your home ?
I had it covered with a welcome mat. It was hard to make in order to fit my natural distances i move my feet. I had to measure & adjust a lot.
😅😂
I just lol'ed out loud.
L S - 😳 You were laughing out loud out loud❓⁉️😜
😁😁😁😄😄😄
That is the BEST tutorial I have yet to see! Thank you for that breakdown makes so much sense now and how it always looks so effortless when I see people shuffling. I will try to master these basics before moving on. Look forward to your other steps 🙌🏽
Super clear, easy to follow tutorial. Gives enough to get a person started and enables practice. Nice! Thanks!
Brilliant!!! Hands down THE best explanation on UA-cam. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I am finally mastering this. 🤗
I made this video for you. Practice a little each day. Shuffling allows you to express yourself in the coolest ways.
I’m 67 too! Will be learning this! Best tutorial I’ve seen!
Thank you. I'm 76 and I really want to do the shuffle. Following your video made me realize how much strength I don't have in my legs. So it's going to be useful strengthening exercise too.
His first steps were from a dance we did back in the early 60's call the Mash Potatoes. LOL
Tracy Turnblad
YES!! 😀👍🏼
Thanks so much! I just found this video I subscribed, I want to learn it's so cool I'm 52 years old girl who thinks " it's never too late"👍💞
Norma Leticia Andrade ..its okay to say
Lady
What's wrong with being a woman?
Whether or not it is too late, is for sure NOT determined by age! Age says nothing about your shape! It may be way too late for you at 20 yrs and you may start training like there is no tomorrow at 75! I would have loved doing this, great videos, but sadly it is not for me, even if I am about your age...
it is
Norma Leticia Andrade It’s never too late I’m going to learn this and my granddaughters there Jaw will drop, it’s going to be fun.🕶
I just turned 70 and I'm going to learn this for exercise.
capstar633 go check out my UA-cam channel .... Elements shuffle dance group 😊
Go 4 it
Go for it! It’s basically the mashed potato, everything repeats itself eventually.
Are you now a mad mashed potato shuffler - how did it go for you?
You gave a 40 year old man from munich who has never danced before hope. My man keep going. You are making a difference.
Thanks a lot!
I'm 56 and I have decided and started to learn shuffling yesterday.
You really help me!
So understandable. Steps broken down so clearly. Absolutely a great video! Thank you

JCHangtime : YOU SHALL NOT PASS TILL YE SHUFFLE DANCE
I think you're the best in making it so easy, because you've marked the floor. I saw so many videos, yours is certainly the best. Thank You for making it and uploading it. Hopefully, I learn it. And the best was telling us that it is easier than skipping a rope.
The tape pattern on the floor really helps to visualize the movements and the transitions, thanks so much!
I'm 55 and I'll be at Tomorrowland this year and would be learning for it . Let's do it 🙌🥳
