Thank you souch for this video. I found it very practical. I felt beaten up and stupid, as if i am in the wrong job, for the 3rd time.. I was retrenched because of Lockdown. This really helped. Thank you.

Me sitting here at 3 AM, can't sleep because I had a bad evaluation for previous year, because I was sick the first half year of 2020. I have been beating up myself for the fact that I failed. Thank you for your comforting words. I shouldn't take it personally. My manager should have skipped my evaluation instead of giving me a bad one. Better luck next time.
Much love to the content creator and everyone watching this and in the comments section. I feel for everyone and am experiencing this at work currently.
Thank you so much, I needed to hear this today after getting written up for missing some information on a file. Totally helped put this in perspective:) God bless you!
I feel like a "failure" everyday. I work full time in a factory as a general labourer. I know that I won't succeed at work by taking higher paying positions because of fear of setting myself up for failure and looking stupid. The reason for all that is because I was NEVER good in school and it left me skill-free. Mind you, I graduated from HS but I have difficulty in language, mathematics and computer skills and don't see myself as smart.
School is not for everyone. Just do what makes you happy and don’t conform to anyone’s / societies ideas of what they want for you. Do you bro. Everyone has different struggles.
Do you like what you do at all and do you just "think" that you have to apply for higher paying positions that you feel you'll fail at? I only ask because I've known so many people that have taken a promotion, regretted it, and some even went back to their previous lower paying and lower responsibility jobs. You sound like me: you feel like you have to better your employment situation by applying for positions that you know you won't be comfortable in just because you're not happy with how you feel about your current job. It doesn't help when friends and family are telling you that you need to go back to school, do this that whatever. It's not their life though. Good luck to you with your career dilemma. Wishing you the best.
Very good explanation of Failure ! Really helpful to understand how to learn from your failures. And the way how you explained is really very impressive. Thanks Natalie. You are amazing !
Thanks so much for this video Natalie. I went into a family business partnership that’s divided my family, and it’s been difficult to deal with myself and sense of who I am without the family business. This video helps me see failure in a new light, as being part of the process.
What about daily failures at a new position based largely in part on the massive staffing shortages? I took a recent position where the staff is at less than 50 percent so the work load and the deadlines are not reasonable. Going in giving my all still results in daily failures because I am not familiar enough with all aspects of the job. I understand that over time I can become more efficient. However the 2 other staff members that have been there for years are having trouble completing tasks in time and the employer is not planning on filling the vacant slots at this time or in the future citing budget constraints. I know the operational failure is that: its not just limited to my ineffective efforts. But how does a person navigate this on a daily basis? I go in and leave stressed beyond being able to handle it. I want to quit but I know this staffing shortage is now the new norm at many workplaces. Do you have any advice? I'm really in a bad place physically and mentally with this dilemma. Thank you!!
For a situation like this if you choose to stay you can only manage yourself with thoughts like: I am one person, I am doing the best I can, and knowing that you showing up at your best each day IS ENOUGH, It is enough. And if you believed that it was enough then how would you feel? Because unless you choose to leave the circumstance, the only thing you can manage are your own thoughts. So thoughts like I am only one person, I am doing more than expected of a person with my level of understanding. So the goal should not be to make them happy or to get all the work done, (As that is an impossible goal) it should be to show up each day in a way that YOU can feel proud of, yourself. You be the judge of that.
@@NatalieFisher "the goal should not be to make them happy or get all the work done...." I really needed to hear that wisdom as I cannot do either. Thank you so much for your response!!
Gee, I am a composer wannabe and sounddesigner wannabe, I finished higher education on both these subjects, but I feel like my level is extremely not sofisticated and instead of building up from ground zero and then presenting myself to the professional world, I did the opposite, when I first shitted on my persona in the professional world, and now I feel like I have lost my face.. honestly, just don't know how to move forward professionally if it is at all possible.. to make matters worst I would soon be 27 too old to start all over again.. my parents think I should try to requalify in other fields..yup
I always trying to be a better employee, have better idea or seeking for new solution. But everything that i did, did not bring significant impact. I honestly dont know what to do? There are so many noises in my head saying that i am not good enough... how to deal with all these? :(
That is called failing ahead of time. Where you think you're going to fail anyway so you don't even try. That's from fear. What I mean is when you do try and you do have a worthy fail. THAT is neutral.
Thanks for watching the video, let me know if it helped you!

It's the employer you have to deal with when you fail at work that's the hard part because they will never let you forget
This video really helped me calm down. I guess I did make my failure at work personal, which then also had physical manifestations. Thank you so much.
