Thank you, Natalie. How about those who disrespect you eventhough you keep a low profile, take my ideas for themselves and have an issue with me being in the "limelight?"
It depends, however if you give extra efforts and they think it is nothing then that is a different thing. You chose to do another extra shift without overtime pay and it was nothing to the management . You cover things that others are not able to and it was nothing. You know you are good at things but management only sees others. I think that this is another scenario in which whatever you sacrifice for the company is not of any value. Im looking for another company because I know my value and I can start a fresh one and be a better worker but not within the same company. To br honest, within a short span of time half of our department resigned. Meaning it is not about my mindset anymore, it is about the management.
Employers don’t even realize that by not recognizing their employees, it frustrates the employee and in turn results in the employee holding back on their full potential. Like why would I go the extra mile 🤷🏽♂️
I’m so tired of being taken advantage of and taken for granted at a toxic, micromanaging workplace. I’m giving my notice today. I do not see things changing or a better future here so I’m removing myself from the equation.
Yes agree with validating yourself, but it can also be draining to work on a negative environment. Working with positive, good people who give you compliments or share your good work with others so you get exposure (and opportunities) goes a long way. Love how you ended the video (“I.e yes I am pretty good”) and pointing out your own accomplishments, and not waiting for validation from others empowers you to go where you will be valued. Yes, love this, you don’t need others to tell you you did a great job.
I have high self confidence I went above and beyond at work. I called them out and mentioned I was dissapointed. I dont want validation, I wanted feedback on my system rollout because its linked to my salary. I've stated this so we shall see.
i understand all of it, but how is it even allowed for people to be treated this way in jobs by a supervisor and yet shes not being fired instead they fire good employees .
Because of egos. Management always sticks together and they want to keep the power at all costs. When employees are good at what they do it makes them nervous and they don't want you to feel good about yourself because they have to feel/think that they're better than you
Hate to say it, this is all well and good, but in today’s society, as far as your job is concerned, no one cares. I know my value, and yet, people still don’t treat me like I do anything. Some roles are not valued at all.
What about when the owner and boss of your company acknowledge everyone else BUT you? I’m talking about giving raises, personal emails and phone calls saying we appreciate you, etc. Yet, no raise for me, no phone call or supportive email, no acknowledgment, etc.
For your continued employment, it DOES matter what the BOSSES think. I once worked under a VP who was ACTIVELY trying to replace me with cheap labour, but was concerned about the risks of cutting me loose too soon. After chewing me out for about a minute, she literally said "YOU DO NOT MATTER!" This stayed with me for years!
Congrats on your baby! YESSS You deserve to go on your mat leave satisfied thanks for sharing! I just had a baby myself (well she's 9.5 months now) it will be so fun!
Recently I’ve been feeling like this due to there’s a new guy in the team that the boss seems to praise and this new dude is kind of very inconsiderated and know-it-all type where it impacts me that the boss is so busy that I’ve been denied of my ideas and concerns. I just found that I have not listened to “any” music for the past 4 days or even play a game to cool down. It the became very hard for me to let go of the negative thoughts which impacts many parts of my life
I came across this video bcz I had bad day at work, and had this same feeling of being undervalued. 😭 But now I want to thank u for making me change that 😊
Also found this video as well due to having a rough day at work. Funny how jobs are so fast to tell you what's wrong, but RARELY lets you know that you are doing a decent job.
This was an amazing video. I started a part time job with a small textile business. I have been doing amazing work for them but the owner literally says nothing what so ever. She'll ask me to do something, i'll do it amazingly, then its off to the next project with absolutely no coments. At first it really messed me up because I thought I was doing everything right...working like a mad person, getting glowing remarks from her clients, and yet absolutely nothing from the boss. So instead of feeling sad and waiting around for her to tell me thank you, or anything like that, I started to validate myself, get better at what I do, and ultimately realize my worth! I'm realizing the pleasure is in getting the work done the best way I can with or without her validation. Now I'm getting better at what I do, feeling more confident and excited to eventually move on to a company where I can grow that will pay me more!!!
Excellent! You are a very enlightened smart person! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's about finding the lesson in it so that it can benefit you! Most people would have complained and blamed the boss. Good for You! Celebrating you!
This is a great video. Thank you for sharing. I think this is a hot topic for remote work because a lot of it is unseen. Not feeling appreciated? That might never happen. Validate yourself and then reach out and validate others. That is actually more fulfilling. Help create a culture of grattitude.
Wow, I have heard of people saying, “Intelligence is appealing .” But this is the first time I’ve actually thought, “She is so smart, it’s actually adding to her physical drawing power.” I am impressed at how smart she is.
:( like dude I've done the work of a sprint and a half... And they were like oops you missed a spot.. The spot was not supposed to be in the current sprint That’s sad
What about being in an environment where most of the time the ONLY thing done is to point out your failures and NOT your successes? What about being somewhere where you are the ONLY person who did certain things that others couldn't do and there's a meeting, everyone is introduced except you?
Why are you in this environment? I have a podcast about valuing yourself which may shed some light onto why you are there. nataliefisher.ca/how-much-you-value-yourself/ It talks about accepting a job but it also goes for staying in a job where you are treated a certain way and staying there. IT's like staying in a relationship where your needs are not aknowledged, you're always made to feel like crap, why would you stay?
Sometimes the employer will minimize your efforts while at the same time, advocate for slower moving average employees who spend more time talking than working. I handle it by leaving early and use my weekends for job search. Dont let them get to you.
Interesting. I give my self validation but my work does not acknowledge my contribution. They tend to downplay it and often attribute success to someone else. I created an awesome PowerPoint and invited colleague to deliver presentation since we are teammates. The managers praised her for creating it. Then it became awkward when they realized I was the one to be given credit. Another situation where I brainstormed and helped someone come up with a concept. The project ended up being funded and my contribution downplayed to identifying the title. I know my value and pat myself on the back. I am frustrated by being overlooked all the time.
Many people are credit stealers and not humble. When I hear what you say, I think to myself, rise higher in this or another organization. Get you credentials and then you can the boss.
I am currently going through it...People in my team take my work but not at all recognizing..instead,politics and influence is working in company and others are getting recognized bcz of influence..this is really demotivating me and i am getting depressed..still I am doing my job just bcz i don't have anyother option to earn for my bread..
I thought, I am working good and my team is liking it too. But today my manager told me that he noticed my work below average. It broke me...🥺 Guess, I should switch 🙄. But I m a fresher.
It is obvious that I watch this video because I feel worthless. I have been teaching online for a school and I not received feedback. Zero. nothing, Goose-egg. In fact, all get a list of demands. It been half a year and I am 2000 miles away from them. I take the time for the students to Zoom with me so I I don't want the excuse that I am not nearby. I am expected to give detailed feedback when I mark my students' work and expected to write long reports about their progress. Also, when they schedule a Zoom staff meeting and then cancel it last minute, is uncalled for. (Unless something happened right before) But, hey, "There is not much to talk about" in an email five minutes before the meeting is uncalled for.
Don't worry ma'am/sir!! Whoever you are I believe that you are a great teacher and trust me one day everyone will notice your hardwork and you'll be appreciated for your efforts. Keep doing it.. don't give up.. ❤️😀
Your video didn't help me at all. I don't feel any relief. I did much more than the other person in work and she got praised + promoted / higher position and is getting advantages. When I did my best she always outshined me. I am exhausted and demotivated.
