We all recognise her greatness now but I think one day, long into the future, people will look back and consider her one of the greatest artists of all time.
This is like THE BEST song to listen to if you're feeling down or just need to relax. I close my eyes and picture a quite forest area with a small stream running and birds chirping.
She seemed unsure at first or something but then she looked more and more caught up by it, if i could play/sing like that i would be in awe at myself for the beauty of it... i would play all day long
when I watch her perform, it's like watching a river flow .... she's a natural phenomenon that totally resists being dissected and analyzed .... but, like a river flowing, it's just a beautiful thing.
I went to art central last year, and there was a harpist. I brought up Joanna Newsom and he played this song personally for me. Love. LOVE. I'm learning the harp because of this angel
**(((I LOVE THIS WOMAN'S VOICE. IT TAKES ME OFF N2 A DIFFERENT WORLD. ITS LIKE NOTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD. A PURE INNOCENSE THATS NOT CORRUPTED BY THIS CRUEL WORLD. IT BREAKS MY HEART EVERYTIME 2 HEAR PPL TALK DOWN UPON THIS WOMAN FROM VOICE 2 LOOKS BCUZ 2 ME IT DOESNT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS WOMAN RIGHT HERE. NATURAL BEAUTY+ANGELLIC VOICE+ MUSICAL TALENT=GENIUS. I'M A 26 YEAR OLD BLACK MALE WHO JAMS TO RAP AND RnB BUT WHEN I SAW HER PERFORM, I WAS CAPTURED, COLD, AND STILL FROM AMAZEMENT)))**
Never ever tire of listening to this song, and this is such a real treat seeing her up close, being able to see her fingers caress each note upon her harp whilst taking in all the nuances of her facial expressions. Sheer beauty in its perfection, indeed. 💗💖💗💖💗
How is it possible to think bad of Joanna of her mistakes when you think about it. Have you ever heard a classical concert pianist sing in one of their performances of hard piano pieces. Joanna sings and plays the harp at the same time and then it's hard both to control voice, lyrics, tempo and harp notes at the same time. She is indeed amazing!
It is so beautiful . I cry often when I am by myself listening to her , I being a 6'1" 235 52 yr old man. It equivocates my loneliness. It is so awesome how one hand plays the bass deep strings keeping time and one plays the melody. Fuck , she is beauty ORGASMICA PERSONIFIED. ANDY SAMBERG , YOU GOOFY , LUCKY FUCK!!!
I don't get it. I see all these comments on Joanna's videos saying "Well its not about her having a good voice, its about the emotion/lyrics etc", but I think she has a beautiful voice.
This video is from a live radio performance. Yes there are mistakes. So what? People get nervous, they make mistakes. Those imperfections are part of what makes live music so interesting. If you want sterile perfection buy a studio recording.
Man. Some of my friends are hipsters (insofar as that word has any meaning nowadays) and they always told me about her like she's the second coming of christ. On that basis alone I refused to listen to her music for a long time. But seeing her sitting at this big, unwieldy thing so concentrated on not making any mistakes and churning out these beautiful harmonies has made me change my opinion on her. Lesson of the story? Don't judge artists by their fanbase.
It’s harder on harp than piano, there’s more technique with how you pluck the strings, finger placement, you have to prevent the strings from buzzing, press the correct pedals to put the strings in the right key etc. I am a harpist, piano is much easier for me lol
I read somewhere that she went to a Waldorf/Steiner school and I always wondered if that didn't explain, at least to some degree, how she could manage to create something so great that is also so far off the beaten cultural path.
@underlinedluke she does make mistakes, but it's still beautiful I agree. You watch a musical performance to see something meaningful in a persons spirit and hear something that moves you, and I think you see both of these things in this particular performance, even though she made mistakes.
@MsAbigail1995 have you listened to CocoRosie....Bianca has a similar type of sound in her voice..and CocoRosie have so much imagination..they use childrens toys...one sister sings opera and plays the harp the other does most of the lyrical...they are AMAZING too.
@erikisPSYCHO yeah any1 who can catch my attention and make me listen to them, i have no choice but to give her props where its due!!! yeah, its not thats shes just different. the woman has a beautiful voice and her words and music mix 2gether creating magic almost...
I'm pretty sure her singing isn't as well as in the album because here she's doing 2 different things at once while in the album she does the harp recording first and then does the singing afterward.
The word mistake is meaningless. it can only exist if there is a perfect version which there isn't. Every time she plays the song it will be different - very slightly or quite noticeably. Changes are not mistakes, just variations.
We all recognise her greatness now but I think one day, long into the future, people will look back and consider her one of the greatest artists of all time.
Tommy Nico i fucking hope so, im starting to get pissed that people just are not getting it
@iKnow BetterThanU its not an easy song to play and sing though
Yes💓
Oh for sure.
without doubt
One of the most interesting and gifted musicians I ever had the pleasure to hear.
One of the un noticed GREATS of all time! Her musical talent and voice is just too advanced for our time.
This is like THE BEST song to listen to if you're feeling down or just need to relax. I close my eyes and picture a quite forest area with a small stream running and birds chirping.
Same

Check out kaki king
It's like falling asleep on a rainy day with the window open. So peaceful :)
it's simply mesmerizing to watch her hands play.
Her voice is apart of her artistic statement, and apart of who she is as an artist, and I love every bit of it.
2:37!!!!!! That smile can light up the darkest of nights!!!! LOVE YOU JOANNA!!! (:
She seemed unsure at first or something but then she looked more and more caught up by it, if i could play/sing like that i would be in awe at myself for the beauty of it... i would play all day long
I've never seen anyone play the harp in my life. This is really beautiful.
when I watch her perform, it's like watching a river flow .... she's a natural phenomenon that totally resists being dissected and analyzed .... but, like a river flowing, it's just a beautiful thing.
I went to art central last year, and there was a harpist. I brought up Joanna Newsom and he played this song personally for me. Love. LOVE.
I'm learning the harp because of this angel
she is so angelic oh my god
Love the way she sings and works that harp

Crazy to see her struggling a lil bit back then and now she just rocks out like it ain’t no shit.
Kris Sweeting my thoughts exactly
Got to see her on this 2004 tour. She blew the roof off that building with the first song. Everyone was just mesmerized.
Wow. I have never heard a more unique voice in my life, it's so refreshing and beautiful to listen to!
Joanna Newsom and Bjork, best female singers ever
She is so unbelievably beautiful. dangit
chilling. brings tears to my eyes.
Never ever tire of listening to this song, and this is such a real treat seeing her up close, being able to see her fingers caress each note upon her harp whilst taking in all the nuances of her facial expressions.
Sheer beauty in its perfection, indeed. 💗💖💗💖💗
Damn, that harp has some serious BASS.
this song sounds like a nursery rhyme, it makes me feel like a little kid again.
I love her smile at the end. It says, "success..."

One of the most perfect artists of all time. ❤
Wonderfulest human alive.
Joanna Newsom, Grace Slick, and Nico, best female singers ever.
So beautiful. I'm blown away.
mesmerising song and a killer performance !! love her more than life
Mindblown.

I have gotta see her perform live! I get lost in the harp and her voice is quite enchanting. *sigh* I wish I my friends liked her music.
so awesome to watch her play...such a talented musician.
this song hits me right here
BRAVO! I felt it inside.
I actually wish I was able to see the World through her eyes. must be a beautiful one
She is so awesome! ❤🙏
that's was beautiful
Every one of her performances is different. Some I like more than others, but all of them are mesmerizing.
OMFG so adorable when she slurs her r's. "and you can ask the counselwuh, and you can ask thing king"
I love lovelovelovelove love this.

wow, we never really get to see her from this side of the harp...i rather like watching her through the strings:D
Had to come back for a refill.
*sighs
Incredible. Her vibrations make my skeleton feel like it's made of straw.
I fucking love joanna newsom.

I really hope she's working on a new album
Nice Video !
recently saw her walking in LA and had to ask if it was really her. i never get star struck but she got me all goofy and shit.
how was she
@@AA-rp1rv friendly
And i thought guitar was difficult!
@@justsomeyoutuber222 Yeah but you have you pluck the right string(s) amongst 47 or so.

She seems a bit weird, but that makes it even better. She is a goddess of the harp
i wanna listen her so bad in real 😭
I LOVE how she sings "and I railed!"
@bmargarete totally agree!
4:03 Face-Melter Solo!
can tell the harp has bunged up on her in beginning so its made her lil frazzled:( still she did SO wonderful as always x x x
love her voice...could put me right to sleep everynight...so is she like, the greatest harpist? i dont know much about the harp game..
@JoyDivisiongirl Thanks, i'll be sure to check them out! :D
4:04 She Shreds
her reaction at 1:28 is just perfect
She seems to be a bit uncomfortable anyway the song is awesome one of the best recordings I have found.
❤
@whichtitch Spelt is an ancient grain that traces its heritage back long before many wheat hybrids.
@xcottenheadedninnyx
She sounds very different now. You need to do a UA-cam search for 'Go Long' in Tel Aviv. Her voice is unbelievable on that.
Tem hora que a voz dela fica meio braba de ouvir. Mas a gente releva pela linda cancao, parabens.
Yeah, I'm interested.
wow......
I may just be in love with you Ms. Newsom
@HangWire2 They're not mistakes it's unintentional improvisation.
you should check out Maria João. she's like Bjork, Joanna Newsom and Bobby McFerrin all in one.
i watched this video and as soon as it ended i was wearing skinny jeans, a plaid shirt, glasses and a small hat.
Nope. It's her real voice. This song is bloody AMAZING.
ROOOOTS !
Great Comment Man!
Looks like it is very difficoult to play that and sing at the same time.. xd
Love Destiny to lean 2 play one but i see it need to come from her and not what old dad wishes.lol. I love what music can give.
@MsAbigail1995 have you listened to CocoRosie....Bianca has a similar type of sound in her voice..and CocoRosie have so much imagination..they use childrens toys...one sister sings opera and plays the harp the other does most of the lyrical...they are AMAZING too.
@samuelsons01
doesn't matter about the harp game, joanna's newsoms the greatest harpist to me!
@erikisPSYCHO yeah any1 who can catch my attention and make me listen to them, i have no choice but to give her props where its due!!! yeah, its not thats shes just different. the woman has a beautiful voice and her words and music mix 2gether creating magic almost...
me too
i wonder if she’s losing her voice a bit here :( i could fall asleep to the studio version but this one sounds so strained
I'm pretty sure her singing isn't as well as in the album because here she's doing 2 different things at once while in the album she does the harp recording first and then does the singing afterward.
