My dad, when i lived with him as a twenty something but didn't quite connect, used to sing along to this when I'd play it... I remember him singing along outside my closed door where he sat in his living room, as a way to try to connect with me. Makes me miss him.
i used to listen to this album end to end hundreds of times just to soothe my anxiety years ago, i just wish she would change her mind and move to Spotify because i miss her in my rotation. Hope you are doing fine now!
Music can be such a powerful memory trigger - bringing back everything - the whole package of emotions, too. I'm very glad for you that the landscape this brings back for you is one of comfort and not the difficulties of that time.
Heard this on The Strangers movie. Haven't stopped listening to it since 2008. Always will be an unknown legend. Played it to my 2 year old with our nice headphones. Her eyes got huge and she reached out and grabbed my thumb and held on tight for the whole song. Now she keeps singing "Should we go outside?" The lyric "The difference between the sprout and the bean is a golden ring, it is a twisted string" will always make me think of me (the bean) and her ( the sprout).
That’s beautiful. I began putting headphones on my belly when I was pregnant with my first son. Today, they are 29 and 30. They are both accomplished musicians. Music and music education will do a LOT for a child in every way. Please get your baby some piano lessons! It’s expensive and time consuming, but I don’t regret sacrificing anything for what they have now. Good luck and I hope God blesses you both.
Finally escaped an 8 year long abusive relationship and was dancing to this song with my infant in my moms livingroom. She came up and held us as I sobbed. My mom died a few months later but that was the safest I had felt in almost a decade. This song brings me so much comfort❤
I'm so sorry for any of the pain you have had to feel, including the passing of your precious Mom, but I hope whatever you can gather to yourself from this new found peace it lasts you for forever Avery in this second part and new beginning of your life! All the best to you and your Daughter!
