I would totally see a star wars movie about a droid sympathizer who stumbled upon a B1 battle droid towards the tail end of the clone wars. The main character frees the droid from its programming. The B1 wishes to no longer kill, but rather sing and the main character is all to happy to support the droid, so the duo travels the stars, visiting cantinas whilst evading the newly formed Empire as their fame spreads.
I'm just imagining a lonely B1 janitor singing this loudly through the abandoned halls of an old derelict Munificent frigate adrift in space. All his fellow droids received the shutdown command many years ago, but for some reason, the signal never reached him. He passes the time in the only way he knows how: to keep this ship clean, and to sing along to musical transmissions he picked up from a galaxy far, far away.
I like to think the droids were originally created to be talented musical artists and somewhere along the way they were co-opted to wreak havoc across the galaxy
