My sincere apologies-this is a day of eating and training video, from a fitness UA-camr, that doesn't start with a slow motion montage of me making coffee to a wacky background track. I feel I have let you all down 🤣

Don’t know if you know this, but the sauna is a great way to ‘train your body to sweat more efficiently’ (in part because it stimulates higher blood plasma volume). Essentially, sweating is regulating core body temperature, and being in the sauna makes your body better at doing that. When you exercise vigorously - lift weights, run, bike, whatever - the core body temperature rises rapidly, so if your body can dissipate that heat efficiently, you’re golden. I would strongly recommend watching Dr. James Dinicolantonio’s youtube videos on this, and his videos on hydration as well, for improving all kinds of sports performance - it’s a real game changer! (Literally, 15-20% improvements).
Keep up the good work, and stay motivated, Mark. Following your journey is a real inspiration💪

It's difficult (when I snatch my hands touch the collars and need to be about two inches further out on each side) but I am enjoying the improved CV, I'll be at Hyrox in April and November so it will be interesting to see where my fitness levels are at.

@@MarkLewisfitness I have just finished my first 10 k competition just under 1 hour and 10 minutes - a lot better than my goal was. Right after 5 km I felt so miserable that I wished that I would have never been born. There was a man in his 80s and I tried to keep his pace, which I embarrassingly could not do. After 7 km I found a not that old man whose pace I could manage. 250 meter before the finish line I managed to outsprint him with my young 25 years old legs - haha! Right after I crossed the finish line I collapsed and rested on my back on the grass on the side for 10 minutes and now I feel absolutely horroble on one side and absolutely awesome on the other side. Thank you very much for the motivation to start running! I will keep it up.

I think the most important thing to remember in the health and fitness sphere is that almost every study has been from a medical context and the variables are so many that it’s very hard to conclude anything from studies. Anecdote and self experimentation rule the day imo. Ben Patrick says a lot of the same as his entire program is built on counterbalancing pre/post op orthodoxy.

I certainly agree with you about high protein intake. I’m the same weight but 6 ft 1, and always did 220g a day until I went vegan a couple years ago. I’m not vegan now, but still adopt many of the foods and practices of a ‘plant based’ diet. After that I realised that so much protein did nothing more for me. Now I aim for 150 as a minimum, and don’t stress anywhere near as much s as I used to

I think you're partially right about need less protein supplementation on a vegan diet. I find that I make progress with lower protein levels on a vegan diet, and I think it might be because my protein sources are a lot more varied than when I used to not be vegan. So much dairy protein when you're trying to supplement a non-vegan diet (whey protein, etc), but with vegan diets I tend to eat a lot more legumes, nuts, soy, etc that make it easier to absorb the protein I'm taking in rather than overloading on a single source

    • @MarkLewisfitness

I just couldn't get into it. I loved the opening scene with the fight on the subway. But beyond that it just felt like it wanted to have way more realism than a regular superhero movie yet still have the superhero movie plot holes that no one minds in a superhero movie. For example, how on earth is he able to walk around so freely (or even be unconscious) without anybody from law-enforcement unmasking him ???? And Andy Serkis and John Turturro were grossly under used.

Some advice on your protein intake. Generally, you need 10% of your daily maintenance calories to come from protein to be healthy. It appears you are achieving that. Also, 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight is often considered "too much, but a reasonable and safe amount" of protein intake. I crunched the numbers, and you are around 0.7g/lbs, which is good. I would personally recommend you increase to 0.8g/lbs, but I'm just a kid so take that with a grain of salt.

Do you not have a full time job? Most people work 9-5 ish so would struggle to squeeze in what you do.

First time I’ve seen you mention IM training in a while. Is that next after Hyrox? Excited to see you take on that training.

Great content as always, Mark. I too am including a few of the Knees Over Toes Guy exercises in my workouts. Have you progressed Ben's tibialis exercises to incorporate weights yet? If so, are you using a tib bar.. or perhaps the MonkeyFeet? It would be interesting to know your thoughts on how this compares with the 'back against ball' standing tibialis movement.

Hey Mark, I love your content and enjoy seeing you grow so fast recently! Also, humans produce lactate and not lactic acid (because you said it twice in the video).

Do you or anyone else here find days you swim it’s hard to be satiated? Any other physical activity in the morning regardless of intensity I can survive to lunch without food. If I swim and if I’m not on top of it I can easily eat an extra 700-1000 calories a day.
