- There's some lag in this video but that's on OBS's side, not the game. It's hard to see the piercer shoot because of the lag.
At this point I'm fairly happy with V1s movement and momentum, and the revolver and piercer are good too. The Coin needs a bit more work.
I added the option for mouse aim due to high demand, but it's still in an early stage and not fully functional.
The title art has also been changed from ULTRAKILL to RETROKILL. Does It look good?
I've added some background art as you can see, but I'll be adding more later on.
All "demake" options seen in earlier versions are still available.
Current plan is to demake the Prelude Chapter of ULTRAKILL. Of course, I have no affiliation with ULTRAKILL and this is purely an unofficial fan project.

Hakita is going to put retrokill rip-off as a secret level in the future. I call it
If the lust layer had a dating sim as the secret level, and the water based lvl had a fishing minigame as the secret level, it means they're basing it off the lvl design and lore of the place,
So this is definitely the HEAVEN secret level

Personal opinion, but i think the text being straight instead of angled would look nicer in the score HUD.
Also, do you plan on making the other 3 acts or releasing a level editor of sorts when UK's finished, or are you gonna finish it off permanently on Prelude?
I'll try out straight text and see how it goes.
I'm going to release only prelude once it's finished, but depending on demand I may do more.
As for a level editor I've no plans for one, but I'd be happy to release the source code and project files for anyone to modify or make their own levels.

@@chewycornell This is supposed to be a demake for the Gameboy era, and at latest the snes, so either 4 directional or 8 directional aiming fits with those styles and the retro aesthetic. Omnidirectional aiming is still an option for those using mouse aim (not seen in this video) but I think omnidirectional aiming may make the game a bit too easy.

For the people who suggested hitscan bullets, thank you! All of your suggestions for this are really helpful, and the demake would be trash without them!
I like how overexagarated the movements of the physics are, it gives the game its own style ecen if its a demake of an already existing one

Great improvements! Remember my last comment, where I suggested to make the coin always split no matter the timing? I think this video is a good example of why. You shot the coin with such a timing that seems fairly strict, and then the coin only kills one enemy. How would this be better than just shooting the enemies normally? The coin works so well in the original Ultrakill because the game has three dimensions and locational damage, making aiming difficult enough to justify the coin.
Besides that, I have no complaints, the project has improved quite a lot.
Fair point, I haven't implemented the split shot yet but that is a good idea.
We'd have to see if the splitcoin like it is in the base game works alright first, and then see if it needs to split all the time.

I think that a easter egg for this would be a skateboarding minigame, like the secrets in regular ultrakill, and then you can also have the style meter be like "ULTRASPILL" when you fail

I believe they've said in the past that there shouldn't be a problem with a demake or fan project as long as there's no monetary gain from it, so I will be releasing a build for free whenever it's ready.

I love a lot of retro soundtracks, hell OVERWHELM is one of my favourites of all time (Just below Super Metroid and Half Life). But these tracks feel a bit barren, more could definitely be done. This is just criticism, I implore you to see it as such

at some point you're going to have to get someone to make you proper sprites because its a crime for something that flows this nicely to look like ms paint blobs
not everything has to be beautiful, not to mention the sprites are canon due to how machines see the world around them(sentry's terminal entry)
