Awesome review of an awesome buggy, Fil! I totally agree with all the points you made about this one, the design is pretty radical for an entry level kit and the plastics are of great quality. Mine has a 13.5T brushless setup and runs so smoothly. Nothing broken in over 4 years of bashing!!! So I can say I'm really chuffed with mine! Take care dude! 😎👊👍
No breakages in 4 years? Now that's pretty impressive! This buggy is tough, and such a blast to drive. Glad to hear yours is holding up so well, Mark. 👊🏼
Great looking and builded car. Thanks for showing. Tamiya has a racing class for the DT-03. Especial for beginners with the cars in stock version. Maybe that's the reason for the low price, too.
I picked up the dt03t, shortened the chassi, made mounts for it to take a Scorcher shell and put Blitzer Beetle tires on it for modernized+cheap Blitzer. Nice and simple to work on :)
@@LassoKid7777 Surprisingly enough i used a saw :P Took out the right amount from the battery compartment to get the wheelbase right, stitched it back together again with strong steel wire shored up with epoxy. Yeah, as i wrote i wanted a more modern chassi with easily available and cheap spare parts. Having done a DT02 before i liked that gearbox, the same is used on the DT03.
Excellent, buddy! It is indeed an excellent buggy, I know I love mine, I have three of them, ha ha! I saw you posted to the facebook group, too, lots of good knowledge in that group to be had. Best two tips are probably to add some weight to the front to eliminate understeer, and to chop away bit of the gearbox to ensure more airflow around the motor... And now I know 100 percent for certain your name is Fil! Have a great weekend there, my friend, looking forward to seeing a run video with it, too!
Thanks Chris! I'm not too sure on speed yet, but from what I've read online, on 2S with this 17T motor, I'm thinking 35 Mph? I might have to strap the GPS to it to find out! 👊
Dt03 is a good reliable buggy . The only issues I’ve had is the servo saver failing,so you might want to get the hop up one from Tamiya because it will fail . I have 4 of them and all of them have failed unfortunately. There are a couple of other hop ups that you’ll need if you jump it a lot . The gear box bridge and aluminum servo mount are must haves . Turned out nice , ready for a good bash .
I have 2 of the Racing Fighter DT03. And I have a 17T(?) brushless in one and a 15T brushed in the other. I would recommend the DT-03 to anyone. They can be very competitive on a budget.
Fil! That buggy looks very nice 👍I hear you about the temptation of thelower price models, every time I scroll through the tamiya touring and rally cars i get a little closer to hitting the button.
Love the DT-03 my daughter has one and it's great fun. She is running the sport tuned and CVA shocks and it's more than enough for the backyard. 17t must be fairly fast? Look great keep up the good work.
Hi Fil. Love the DT-03 chassis and although the Noe body is cool I prefer the Super Fighter body. Great overview with some fantastic upgrades. 'Chuffed' Adjective, Very Pleased. I was chuffed with your video What, what. 🤣😂
@@tonydelovski8088 I get those storage shelves from Home Depot. They're available in the closet/organizer section. Just bolt the rails to the wall and insert the arms wherever works for you. Easy peasy! 👍🏻
If it's painfully slow I'll swap it out. But I remember installing these servos in my Midnight Pumpkin, and while it wasn't fast, it did the trick. Fingers crossed! 😎
Colors look great! I left the sides of teh body a bit lower on mine, it covers the chassis a bit more. And forget about the sway bar option, it doesn't seem to do anything, even with the stiffest bar, money wasted.
@@poorboysrc agree…just seems 1 more common upgrade would be so awesome (as I think it could compete in the rookie class)…as a tamiya fan I’d probably get one anyway…lol

It's surpringly cool looking, isn't it? I'm really diggin' it! Have a great weekend pal! 🤙
Neo Fighter is a great buggy. Especially for the low price. Fun to drive and rock solid. Yours looks great!
Thanks pal, yeah I'm really excited to get it out for a rip this weekend! 🍻
Beautiful build. Your paint work is on point!
Thanks bro! I'm super happy with how it turned out! ☺️
If the ESC is no water proof, it will at least be water soluble and smooth!!!!🤣🤣🤣 What a cool buggy brother!!!!
For $25, it can go up in smoke and I'll enjoy the show! Lol! Cheers bro! 🍻

I would love to see these racing, it seems like it would hold its own quite well on the track. 👍🏻
@@poorboysrc Tamiya Europe call it "Fighter Cup". Idon't know if I'm allowed to post links here, but you should find the videos here on YT😉

Very cool idea! Probably handles 10x better than the OG Scorcher all day long, too! 👍🏻
How did U shorten the chassis, and why? Just for the shell?

Also love the dt-03t. It also has with The aqroshot an awesome body.
Very cool truck, I'll have to grab one some day.
@Poor Boys RC in Germany the aqroshot is sold with motor, Esc and cva oil filled shocks for 90€, which makes it an awesome deal.
I got one it's so sick, the chassis makes alot of sense to me narrow and balanced

Nice, it's perfect for a beginner. Mine is fairly quick on 17t, but nothing too crazy. I'm tempted to try it on 3S.
I keep eyeing the dt-03 also

Seems like if tamiya would include a slipper clutch option and the ability to use alternative spur gears, they’d be onto a good beginner level racer
