Great buggy. The design's looking so awesome. Red and blaxk's a great combination. The overheating is the biggest issue with this car. But who should wonder when the motor is stuffed into the gear box on this car.
Ayton would definitely approve. Nice work chaps 👌 i wonder where his hotshot is now ? Was talked about on one of the fb groups sometime ago . Cant beat old school paint jobs
I was wondering that also, it might be in storage, forgotten about or used daily, I bet that Lunchbox Lewis Hamilton was given hasn’t seen the light of day or been used by him since
Hi there fellas, another great video. The DT-03 is very good value for money and with your additional upgrades, looks to perform very well indeed. I too am of the age, remembering those cigarettes manufacturers liveries on F1 vehicles, large amounts of money between teams and sponsors. Our world and what is considered as acceptable and not acceptable is becoming ever increasingly…..’Nanni’ state shall we say? 😊😊best wishes 😊
You don’t see ‘Elf Bars’ shelling out for sponsorship, they just use the fact the streets are littered with the damn things, all nonsense flavours and so on 🙄😂👍
It did overheat, but I’m having issues with the BZ on the TBLE04 with my Wild One, I have a BZ with my Terra Scorcher, that works fine but I think it’s a TBLE02 🤔👍
The DT03 gearbox is a good design, but it only allows the use of two pinion gears; 17 or 19 tooth gears. Ìs there a way to allow the use of other gears? Any help would be appreciated.
Great looking build and they are great running buggies! I do agree there were some great liveries back in the days from smokes and alcohol! They made some great looking race cars back then. We have some good ones today but not quite as iconic except for maybe Rredbull and Monster! I hope you figure out the overheating issue and can get it out on some dirt! Take care guys!
Mainly because they were more readily available, and it will be thrown around, so I I think aluminium will be more hard wearing than carbon fibre, but that could be for a future project 🤔👍
Currently having a similar overheating problem with the dt-02 which has the same gearbox, with only a moderate 15 turn brushed. Why Tamiya decided to surround the motor with so much plastic is anyone's guess. Not enough room for a clip on heat sink either. Oh well, at least the batteries last a bit longer 🤔
Great build lads! LOVE the JPS livery, it was probably my favourite paint scheme back in the eighties...... but boy did those JPS fags taste awful! 🤣 When you split them open there was bits of drift wood and garden bark in there, nasty. The overheating is annoying to say the least, I've never had that with any of my superstock motors.... but I generally use TBLE-02S ESC'S, seem to be a nice match! 😊 👍 👍 👍 👍
I must say that JPS needed to advertise as no one really smoked them, I think that sometimes the cheaper brands were what they swept of the floor! I travel to say I agree with ESC as I have the TBLE02 in my terra Scorcher and it’s never let me down! 👍
Why did they cover up the motor with plastic is the only problem i have with this car? Reminds me of my other hobby PC gaming when certain companys forget about airflow/cooling in the cases and then sell us crazy hot processors and graphics cards to put in a solid glass case with no airflow. Yeah it looks nice but its thermal throttling like a mofo! Make a metal gearbox case Tamiya so it can dissipate the heat from the motor and increase the TDP! And why does Tamiya give us an ESC that overheats with Tamiyas own motors? Now have 4 Tamiya ESCs all have been replaced with the hobbywing 1060 because it just works better and dont overheat/shutdown and has the same size heatsink on it than the Tamiya ones! But rant over nice paintwork dude she looks mint.
Yes I have to agree some PC towers now are just for show with no practicality to them, just filled with twinkly lights. Exposed motors are good so you get a decent airflow, which I think they need 👍

I have said it before and will say it again! The DT-03 is a modern classic!
For the money I think you are right 👍
I really like the DT series of buggies. You guys should build a Holiday Buggy.
Or the Sandrover version and see if you can paint it as there's a lot things say you need to treat the body different.
Tempted but the body is a bit questionable, but wouldn’t say never 🤔👍
I’ve heard that also, I’ve seen some successful paint jobs, I think it’s the weird plastic they used 🤔👍
Great buggy. The design's looking so awesome. Red and blaxk's a great combination. The overheating is the biggest issue with this car. But who should wonder when the motor is stuffed into the gear box on this car.
I’m sure a bit of tweaking will get things running fine, or just run it in 10 minute blasts 🤣😂👍
Nice first run with the DT-03, looks cool in the JP livery.
It is a good racing livery, modern designs don’t have the same look without cigarette funding 🤔👍

@@RCsoandso true but it was a great advert for rc's 👌
Nice build and looks great. Heat is often an issue this time of year. Look forward to seeing out and about again.
Yes could be a good winter runner 🤣😂👍
Nice one guys. Love the JPS livery. What about Ayrton Senna with that Tamiya! 😯 I'm sure he'd have liked your DT-03 too 😁
I always knew Senna was a good egg!

Did senna center ever play with it?
Think so 👍
You guys had any problems with the BZ motor on that Carson ESC?

@@RCsoandso looks awesome by the way! For me the Hobbywing is the most reliable ESC. Surprised the 02 goes down to this motor 😎
@@theoagrc the running system is the only thing that’s not given me issues with the Terrible Terra Scorcher 🙄👍
I'm building a couple of dt03's just now with the hobby wing 1060 esc and torque tuned motors. I'll have to keep an eye out for overheating.

I will consult with the Chief Engineer to see what he thinks as he built this, and would know 👍

Tobacco companies would spend loads getting them looking right, these days they have too many little sponsors so the total look is damaged. 🤔👍
Nice, why’d you choose aluminum vs carbon on the shock towers?

Awesome buggy and great run
I’m shocked at how well it does in honesty, it is going to be fun to take out 👍
I have considered the dt03. I'm interested to see how well it races
It would be ideal for racing the chassis is really good and it is agile enough. Hop ups are not a bad price too 🤔👍

Fun in 8 minute portions 🤣😂👍
I thought they should make an MS version of this car and a t r f version of this car.
MS Version?
@@RCsoandso the dt02 had a ms it was the next step before a TRF 201.

I've seen these cars take 3300 brushless motors.
I’m sure it would really 👍

Thing of beauty that. Nothing screamed professional sport like ale and tabs. Senna was always my F1 king. I don't watch it now.
F1 is dull now, too many rules and no characters to root for 🤔👍
