@@robbiefishing i reckon Trevor is spot on Robbie! You could even add the butter to the oil before cooking, the oil will stop the butter from burning and the flavour will be right through the Yabbies. My mouth is still watering though mate.

Thanks Moo Moo. They were very nice, but to be honest I think I prefer them just boiled naturally. Both great, but sometimes the flavour is just too good to mask.
Nice cook-up. You'll need to have a go doing a Louisiana style crawdad/crayfish boil with yabbies- it includes lots of spices, sweet corn on the cob, new potatoes, sausage (like kabanna), onions, capsicums, and the yabbies. You could even do an Aussie version with a bit of Vegemite in the boil.
Spot on Robbie, Whether it's a bunnys scent glands, a fishes blood line, or the yabbies poo shoot. The removal of all.. Makes from a good feed to a great feed . Thanks mate 👍👍
You need a beer and a glass of whiskey for the perfect meal on the bank of the lake. LOL. I'm so jealous its miserable over here in Ireland going to minus 6° over the next few days at least its stopped raining. Oh I'd love to be there with you eating them yabbies in the sunshine. Your a lucky man Robbie and a happy man. Great video as always. Cheers.
Thanks so much Vincent. I would love to have you here. I would supply the beer and you could cook the yabbies. I've seen your cooking and you are a lot better at it than I am. haha

Thanks mate. I have another video coming out from there soon. The nets were in the whole time I was filming this scene. Then I gave them a couple more soaks. Haha
Definitely gonna give this a go. I’ve always boiled yabbies and a few years ago someone suggested squirting a bit of wasabi into mayo and mixing it up as a dipping sauce. They weren’t wrong!
Thanks Dave. That sounds like a great idea mate. I put a great heap of wasabi into my mouth once thinking it was smashed avocado. Haha Almost had to call the fire brigade. LOL

Hi Robbie. Check out how fellow Aussie UA-cam Dean Evans does Balmain/Morton Bay bugs. My suggestion would be to use butter or margarine not oil, fry flesh side first then flip and baste with garlic or herb butter (I use garlic and chives or parsley or both). Delicious!
haha That reminds me of the scene in Crocodile Dundee two. Have you seen that? The aboriginal fells was eating a dead bat. LOL Wally asked "Are you enjoying that?" and he replied "Naaaah. needs garlic". LOL
Old school from back in the days where it wasn't a decent catch unless you had at least a wheatbag full of yabbies. So boiling was the only real option. Having said that, it would be over 20 years since I had a decent feed of yabbies. Might be time for a trip back to the Wimmera for a feed.
I remember many years ago... Lake Albacutya had been dry for many years and they did a soil sample and found a layers of yabbies in suspended animation about 4-5 foot down.
"Whitest" pallet ever Robbie. Zero seasoning, zero flavour lol. Killed them for nothing 🤣. Atleast cook em in garlic butter or squeeze some lemon juice on em damn 😜🤣
They're very popular with hikers all around the world. They have a lot of benefits for hiking. They don't freeze unlike gas stoves. You know exactly how much fuel you have and don't have to carry an extra gas cylinder just in case, AND.... They're VERY hot. Excellent for melting snow.

Hell yeah chilli sauce too in a pan with butter n garlic,or do them like a garlic prawn rice entree sensational
