good video mate..Ive got 2 little tips for you that we use on redclaw yabbies and blueys when they are in hiding..1, Lucerne pellets ( as our mate below says) works great and I sometimes soak them in tuna oil to add to the attraction in the big QLD impoundments. easy to make some pvc tube bait holders for them..2, and you didn hear it from me is Chicken meat soaked in Methylated Spirits for a couple hours..They come from the next door neighbours to get a taste of that I tell you.. Happy Yabbying
Awesome! Small suggestion- after your second check, open the can about a third of the way, stir the tuna with a stick, and reclose the lid. That should let the water circulate more of the smell, and increase your catch rate. It's starting to get really cold and snowy here, so I'm quite looking forward to your summer videos. Thanks so much for sharing.
Bloody awesome... I'm jealous lol ... I just bought some hoop nets and bait traps like you suggested. Do you have any ideas where to go in far western Victoria ? I'm located in Mount Gambier on the border. Thanks ...
I often mix tuna in oil with breadcrumbs and corn for carp bait. You are probably on the money as far as the oil being leached out and working less effectively. When I chuck a handful of burley out, you can see the oil lift out of the mix pretty quickly after it hits the water and the attraction falls off after it is cleared.
Oil mixes with Tuna fat and permeates the water attracting more yabbies. Just got back with me brother Rob. Caught 11 eaters so I’m happy! This just topped my day! 🦐 🦐
I usually use dry cat food because that's what I've got handy at home lol. I have used a can of cat food before, but never used tuna in oil, that was a new one for me. I was surprised with how well it actually worked! Nice work Robbie, sorry to hear about your car mate.

Those tins of ham with the metal key you screw the tin open with are the best.....put some of the "ham" in with that gelly in the tin both in a stocking any yabby in smell slick will be manic to get in.

U are correct after the oil is released in the water the first time that’s always the best round but it’s not the same after less oil gets out and eventually non will come out.
Thanks mate. The tartare sauce worked great, I will definitely use it again. I was just experimenting in this video, based on what I have received in the comments on my videos.
Every area is different, up around Mt Isa we use the cat food tins but don’t use any seafood, try beef, turkey or chicken and change them out about every hour.
I use dog food in the open top yabby net - I removed the little net bag from my opera house nets I threaded the tie up string (which comes with the open top) around the circumference of of the net bag. To close the net bag just slide the plastic sleeve down to the net bag and now it's secure

I'll have to give you a copy strike on that joke Robbie lol. Just kidding mate. If they did...... I would give them a copy strike on their pecker because it looks exactly like mine 😂
Hope you get sorted out and it doesn't cost you the shirt of your back. Glad to see you making holes in the tins. Was wondering did the yabbies open the tins themselves.
Fancy Feast 'Seafood Pate' 12 packs, are the only thing I use these days. Some things work better in one dam more than the other, but the Fancy Feast has worked everywhere without fail. I won't use anything else now.
Nice one mate your car isn't a Ford is it ?😂 probably a way you can test the oil theory is soak a rag in tuna oil see what you get. Put the net back in a few times if you are getting less each time soak the rag again see how it goes. I'm not no scientists but I reckon it would work. Cheers mate 👍👍🇭🇲🇭🇲

Hi, can you make a vid on putting a yabby on a hook for bait.
Hey mate, absolutely I can. I will do that when the cod season opens.
When I suggested cat food, I meant DRY cat food! But this seems to have worked!

Oil does float so you can imagine that it would be the first thing to disperse.
Raw liver. Best bait.
Can you tell the difference between a female and a male yabbie?
