We grabbed food, and came back and we all ate together. Then WE took a shift sitting with it while the other guys went out to the parking lot and rested in the AC. Then we just made sure we were the last ones out and the first ones back the next day. Grabbed that motor for almost half price!
If you ever pull another gen 3 SBC, consider switch the coils and brackets with the round body D585 coils. They give better firewall clearance in some vehicles and are considered the hottest production Chevy coil. Tons of them on the 5.3s, just mix and match in the yard.
That mustang will haul ass with that engine. That mustang is in pretty Rough shape, wow.....They say you can get all those body parts now days brand new. Looks like you might have to go that route on the body...

Just seeing this post do you have doors for the car if you do put the doors on their lineup the body somewhat and then they enter pillars going to have to put some kind of welding rods in there and stuff make sure it's all structure then start cutting cuz if you cut without those doors on there and doors and gonna line up unless you will later do step-by-step but it's possible
I just bought a 01 suburban 2wd with a 5.3 4L60e and then a wk later got an 04 2500Hd 4x4 6.0 also for 300$ do you know if the 6.0 is a desirable motor to use.

do the same with my 2004 LQ4 6L/4L80E pull out at Kenny U pull all by my self and swap in my 1986 C10 pick up and man this motor run smouth and strong for $500!
If its a car you care about its gonna take a ton more time than if its a junkyard pull. Putting a 4l60e back in my old 1998 chevy 1500 took my dad and I 4 hours. My dads been a mechanic for 30 years and it still took him and I 4 hours. It was an absolute pain

how did you guys get it into the back of the truck ? our lkq lets you pull it with the crane then its figure it out as far as getting it in to your vehicle

Yes you were very lucky. I paid 1k for complete engine. Cheapest I can find a 4L80 in my area is 1200 from a junk yard 1 hour away. Gonna settle for a free not working 4L65e. Good luck!

@@rustyknucklesgarage6145 you’re one day late. The brake line rusted out and it was stuck at the shop. I ended up selling to a junkyard for $350 bucks. I didn’t try to negotiate just because I didn’t want to pay to tow a non driving car back home.

At least you didn't lock the front fenders off on each side taking the core support cutting it out I don't mind cutting the core support but man everybody where I'm at cut the front of all the fenders off can't find a damn cat eye fender for nothing

Most of the vans are a 4.8/4l80e combo and it’s 2wd

You will want to use the ECU and harness from the engine you are pulling.

First time will probably take at least 3 hours if I had to guess. Longer if its a car you care about and not a junkyard pull

They used a forklift to lower it into my truck. I had to sign a waiver incase they damaged my truck.

Are LQ4s really that rare? I know 5.3s are abundant but I would assume the same for the 6.0
They are becoming pretty hard to find actually!

I'd say about 3-4 hours. It was our first time doing it. We pulled another one for Cole the following day and it went much quicker.

You can reuse your harness depending what engine you have but youd have to tune it
