Thank you for this video. I'm a CHD patient, whose first surgery at the age of two years, and am about to turn 50. For years I have been looking for people to understand. I'm so glad the community is coming out. God bless you 🙏

Love this ❤ I was born with transposition of the great arteries and a ventricular septal defect. I’m at the beginning of starting my journey to raise awareness using my own channel. Thank you for your video 🎉

Thank you so much for posting this. There are so many myth out there about CHD, and it is so good to bring awareness to it, and show what its like to live with them.

Fact 2: My book about CHD calls 1-2%, but some studies say about even only 0,8%.
Myth 1: OK. It is nonsense. "Blue spell" may appear later (in case of some CHDs) and also it depends on what part of heart is defect.
Myth 2: They cannot develop from nothing. But if at least one defect is present, it may lead to developing to other ones (for example, VSD may be trigger for developing of pulmonary stenosis). And also, they may change in time.
Myth 3: May be that not all are hereditary, but genetic predisposition for them may be so low, that they may "skip" some generations. And also, their appearance may be triggered by some illnesses of mother in pregnancy (like rubeola - that is mostly discussed as trigger).
Myth 4: I like that. Really. It is nonsense like no other. There are many other diseases that are victims of such myths.
Myth 5: Here I see a little problem. I would say that it is problem of "point of view" (respectively, how you would explain/accept word "cure").
Myth 6: Oh, I would like to see one who said this the first. Of course that not. It impacts patient (more or less) to the end of life. And of course, it impacts also people around the patient - in its special way.
Myth 7: Of course that fourty years old patient would not go to pediatric cardiologist. But CHD specialist may demand to you would be registered also in care of general cardiologist (it is my situation - so once per year I see my general cardiologist, and once per year I see CHD specialist - in six months interval between them). But as you said in video about your cath, pediatric cardiologist may see you too, if needed - but it is not my case (fortunately). My general cardiologist is working on next-door ward (ICU) as I mentioned in comment to one other video. Meanwhile my CHD specialist is working in else hospital (co-working with hospital where I passed my heart surgery).

I have a question. We’re you able to get the Covid vaccine? If yes, we’re there any concerns with getting it and what was your experience after getting it? Thanks. You are so informative in a medical way but also so non-medical people can understand.

Hi! Thanks for the comment :) I was able to get both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. No concerns in getting it related to my CHD specifically, if anything my CHD made me more eager to get it. I had a sore arm and fatigue after the first dose, and I had a VERY sore arm as well as muscle chills for a few hours after the second dose. I’m hoping to record a Covid-19 related video soon, so stay on the look out for that :)

I got two doses too. And I don't know situation in USA about doses for cardiac (or else "vulnarable") patients. But here, in the Czech republic, I could get them in priority of healthcare workers. And I have to say I was feeling so "strange" for it (because other vulnerable patients had to wait for their doses many months).
