2:23 I remember them saying at some point that gems no longer gain exp. The only way to level gems is to get higher level uncut skills and upgrade a skill to that uncut gems level.
For resistances, if they haven't changed since they last talked about it, there will be a 10% penalty at the end of each act (for a total of -60% at the start of maps like in PoE 1)
But from the footage we can see that some bosses drop "quest" items that gives permanent resistance upon use, like the first one boss with cold attacks. So question is how much resistance will character have after ending campaign, same -60 like in poe 1 or -30 or even just 0 after all quest bosses like this?
11:28 I have a suspicion that tempest bell will truly shine as a way to convert a high attack rate but low damage skill into a high attack *and* high damage skill. This is because the shockwave damage is independent of the damage of the hit to the bell (as far as I am aware). Subtractem talked about using this strategy in his breakdown of the June co-op play test. Of course, if the enemy is also in range of the triggering attack that’s even better like you said. Edit: also leech takes place over 1 second by default now. E.g., if you hit for 1,000 and have 10% life leech you will recover 100 life over the next second (not accounting for leech resistance on mobs). Edit2: poison now has a default max stack of 1 which can be increased through various means. From what I’ve heard people have gotten up to 5 max stacks meaning the pathfinder would take you to 10.
Full auto crossbow on the bell is probably going to be fine, but some of those quarterstaff attacks also do a LOT of hits in quick succession, like whirling assault and tempest flurry.
Ravenous Doubt's instant mana leech sounds amazing for Mind over Matter now that it makes 100% of damage go to mana. Into the Breach spawns health, mana, and damage pickups around you so you collect them for recovery. Warbringer Ancestral spirits seemed to summon one of those Gorillas from Affliciton league.
I expect the Gemling Mercenary's node above the attribute requirement node for skills to be a bonus for stacking a single attribute. It goes with the theme of versatility, and you would not be punished for stacking an attribute because you can still equip any support gem.
Good to note is that skill gem support sockets are no longer colored. This implies that, theoretically, Thaumaturgical Infusion will allow you to move Support gems around to tailor your Resistances to a specific fight you're about to face. Not sure if it will be worth it, but the possibility is there.
On tornado shot, it's completely reworked from what they have shown in the reveal the other day. You shoot arrows into a stationary tornado which then multiplies the projectile count and shoots it out in a random direction.
Another important thing about the gemling legionaire is, apparently we cannot use multiple of the same support gems, which is synergistic with the max res nodes. I'm really torn between the mercenary with it's cool crossbow and wasd movement and the warrior, with seemingly chunky hits and hopefully decently reworked melee.
Gog in terms of the monks lore it’s been revealed (can’t remember where) that the monks worship an entity known as the “Dreamer” they don’t actually know that they are actually worshiping chalupa.
Pyromantic Pact is basically Sienna's overheat mechanic from Vermintide and that's pretty cool. At least here it won't necessarily always kill you, unlike Sienna's mechanic, but I wonder if there's gonna be some interesting CWDT shenanigans you can get up to with this ascendancy.
Note that the Gore Spike blood mage node scales off life and not MAXIMUM life. Meaning presumably that your critical damage bonus will be oscillating rapidly as you cast spells and your life total goes up and down.
Now that I look at it, witchhunter seems actually quite good for melee. If you plan to attack from close range, it's really good to break concentration. The 30% reduction is good for everything but the most impressive one is the explosion thing. One of the issues melee tend to have is AOE. This really helps with that. The bloodmage is also interesting for that depending on her other nodes since you can stack a lot of life to have high mitigation (which is important for melee) and then also have incredible crit damage.
@@sirgog I think your gem description is incorrect. Gems drop in tiers and those tiers can have level ranges. E.g. tier3 level8 gem. Means you can cut gems up to t3 and any of them will have lvl8 already. E.g. t13 (highest for monk) can drop as lvl20 if you are lucky or lower than lvl20 if not lucky.
Based on the footage, Ice Shot seems to get more aoe/shard projectiles when it shatters an enemy. Invoker’s Elemental Expression is basically poe 1’s Wild Strike effects on crit. It also seems like the Stormweaver may have another effect to pick up lightning orbs from shocked enemies you kill. Several ascendancies appear to have similar ‘pick-ups’ based nodes for various bonuses. When they showed the Chronomancer, the entire character model is made of translucent sand, might be a permanent defensive effect. Notably, I don't think Darkness works similarly to Dissolution of Flesh - it doesn't unreserve if you avoid damage for 2 seconds, but each darkness reservation appears to have a 10 second timer, so it will continually restore with a 10 second lag (again, speculation) If you take 300 damage at T=0, then start taking a DoT that deals another 300 over 5 seconds beginning at T=5, then the way it reads, at T=10 300 should unreserve, and at T=15 the reservation should begin to unreserve across 5 seconds, ending at T=20. I'm not sure it's *good*, but the intuitive comparison with Dissolution may warp analysis of the mechanic.

Everything is exciting to me, but the Gemling Legionnaire is probably the one I'm most keen to break the game with. It has the most wide possibility of interactions, and I think it's guaranteed to be the type of class that is either completely broken or mostly useless because it looks at everything in the game instead of just looking at minions, or elemental skills, or chaos skills.

Yeah I feel like in their attempt to make the game more new player friendly they probably would not want to make a skill that looks like it gives more chaos res actually nuke your res instead
elemental monk, the time and elemental sorceresses, and deadeye. I think the gemling commando is gonna be busted day 1 tho. no way that stays the same until launch
So, until necromancer ascendancy comes out, infernalist is kind of the go to asendency for minions, blood mage might work as well, maybe will since we don't have full info
Minions can have 6L on all minions; I don't think they need the bulk of their power to come from ascendancies. If I were to play a minion build to start I'd take the chaos monk or gemling legionnaire.
@blackomega34 you can only have one of each support gems which limits how strong each minion type becomes, permanent minions also requires to reserve spirit to summon, spirit is also reserved to activate auras. So there are alot of things to take care of in terms of balancing between number or types of minions vs aura reservations. So yeah I would say you definitely need to squeeze as much damage possible from everywhere
@blackomega34 also yes gemling legionere and chaos monk even chronomancer provides huge qol for minion builds, but setting up the tree for those classes are tough as they start alot far away from minion nodes( at least that's the case in Poe 1 and passive tree has alot of similarities in terms of positioning)
The main thing that worries me, and maybe this will be addressed with release or throughout EA, but I'm not a fan of how it sounds like certain weapons are kinda locked in with certain elements, like bows have cold, lightning, and poison. What does this mean for burning arrow, bleed bow, ele hit? These are large archetypes that would be a bummer to miss out on.
There's probably conversion (eg. cold to fire) or ailment change (eg. your lightning damage can ignite) from items and uniques. And they'll be adding more skills over time so probably not an issue.
suffering to know parts of each ascendancy but not all of them. also no complete skill tree. i want to theorycraft a build ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. leaning towards the infernalist but just don't have enough information. i wonder if they even plan to give the rest of the ascendancy details and tree before release or if they want people to have to launch without complete information. i kinda like either but it certainly makes it rougher for now to not know.
Hum... I don't think that "Chaos Resistance is Doubled" means that the chaos resistance you have is doubled and so if you have -60 chaos resistance you will have -120 chaos resistance, but it doesn't double the effect of Despair. I think the curse is applied on your final current resistance whatever it is and reduce it, but the reduction is not doubled.
Scepters have no attack stats; no damage, attack speed, or base crit. They are basically a tool to get Spirit, mostly for summoners, but I imagine an extra aura could easily be justified for other builds.
I mean, sure: making ascendancy damage boosts smaller does mean that delaying getting them is less of a problem, but it also means that getting them is less exciting and 10% is so small that I suspect, while levelling, you'll barely even really notice. Ascendancies absolutely should, in my opinion, change how your character feels to play.
My burning question is Do all of the ascendancy skills "level up" to 20? As we know the ascendancy skills can be supported But afaik, there is no way to "upgrade" the skill to lvl 20 Could it possibly be already a "lvl 20" skill? Im very curious
I like the hit once, hit hard playstyle, and enjoy really slow slam builds like groundslam of earthshaking. It seems like that playstyle lends itself well to Titan, so I'll likely start that. The keystone thst let's you one hand a two hander seems cool. I might try that with a shield to use some of the new shield skills and just slam stuff. I'm pessimistic about the stun synergy as I have tried to make stun a thing with groundslam of esrthshaking but it just never really felt great. That's PoE 1 tho, PoE 2 might have better stun mechanics
Gemling or Deadeye tbh. Either way, I'll have time to fiddle with things lol Tornado shot + Zealous Inq seems kinda busted? There's some crosstalk that most certainly can be done.
I'm so confused about your take Chayula's Gift part of this video. It just states Chaos Resistance is doubled, that doesn't imply a downside so why would we be going negative values here?
What's two times negative 30? It's negative 60. There's a Prismatic-Golden-Azure anoint in POE1 that has the 'chaos res is doubled' text and that's how it works.
The wording on overwhelming toxicity might not be a poison rework, im thinking it might mean that it either allows you to overwrite implicit poison limits (like viper mambas "max 1 poison") OR maybe it means you can inflict more than one poison with one hit, so a 200% chance to poison would allow you to poison twice with any hit, essentially doubling the amount of poison stacks you are outputting
I planned to start 2hmace/crossbow merc, but now I think I'll start warrior instead and got Titan. My build idea was shotgun+grenades for clear, armour piercing + high velocity for single target and stunning, then Hammer of the Gods + seismic cry for bursting bosses. While either merc ascendancy would work with it, Titan's stun bonuses just sing to me. Frankly, I don't like merc's ascendancies. Gemling I straight up dislike - I get it and appreciate the idea, but I find him boring. Witchhunter is cool, but I just don't feel his passives, this might change once we get more info on him and, who knows, I might end up starting him.
I believe the blood mage's first node is quite experimental from GGG. This is the first time that everybody who wants to be a blood mage NEEDS to take the same starting node. And by initial looks of it, it feels more of a downside than an upside.
5 ascendancies on release and adding bard (true aurabot class) and alchemist (concoction mechanic), along multiclass sytem with bonus for certain weapons with all that the combinations become even wider and balanced still
20:30 - it seems like you are making the assumption that resistances will be lowered at some points in PoE2 as well, I think they most likely won't do that so that.
@@sirgog I think one thing that speak against them doing it is that it's another one of those things that is very confusing for new players. It's really just a remnant of back when there was 3 difficulties in PoE.
75 res cap seems low when you don't have any penalties and get free res from bosses in campaign (even if it just ends up as 10% all res) I do expect at least a total -40% res penalty
I doubt divine flesh will return.. you could take the new Mind over matter + chaos inoculation + divine flesh. Leaving you chaos immune. 50 % of elemental damage gone. On the AoC monk you could slap eldritch battery on and have energy shield as spender and mana as life, both with instant leech.
I've avoided leaks so far and there haven't really been any high profile ones. I'd expect GGG fed some groups of alpha testers different info in some aspects in order to detect leakers too (for example, give 90% of players one version of the Monk, then 10% have a high impact numbers change in their Monk; if the 10% version is leaked, you have a lot of intel on who it might have been).
@@sirgog It was a staff one that was scrubbed, that is really really bad if it's true, and unfortunately it's either a very ingenious troll or poe2 has some major issues. Because it matches up to things like chris selling his stocks and them saying "even we don't know whats going to happen with all the new supports!" among other things. My suggestion is pew pew crossbows will be the only reliable thing to leaguestart and map with to farm and progress, avoid melee, and wait for people to figure stuff out because there's prob gonna be very underperforming things among very op things if the leak is true.
@@NicholasDarling My first time hearing about this, but the leak aside the mercenary and ranger both looked better in late game than the other ascendancies they showed, imo.
@@damo06ab yeah someone was trying to get ruetoo to read the leak on his stream, i ended up reading it and it honestly seemed plausible which is really bad... It was a 4chan post that got deleted but was archived still. Had alot of stuff from the "staff" member key takeaways being how much they lied about working on poe2, the staff kept getting pulled off to work on poe1 leagues and stuff then they did way more work on gfx than anything else to sell as many microtransactions as possible prob with the chinese leading the project now. I think the games still worth playing but you prob want to play a really safe build at first until you can farm stuff for op setups because it's not gonna be balanced especially if they stick too 1 death maps you really need something that insta kills everything more than ever with poe2s "difficulty" increase.
One thing that came to my mind is that in POE2 you can only use a specific support gem ONCE across all the current active skills. So, for example, "MINION DAMAGE Support" can only be used as a support to ONE type of minion. It restricts a lot the power of the minions if you have an army of different minions.
If you have an army of 'different' minions, then different supports apply. Skelly archers get multiproj, skelly warriors get rage, skelly arsonists get increased aoe and reduced cooldown, etc.
They may not Want players to use a single skill, but I want that for myself. The more they push for us "playing wrong" doesn't change the way I want to play, it changes If I want to play. I don't get why they're so set on that being a core gameplay feature. PoE isn't Dark Souls. Dark Souls exists and here I am playing PoE1. Maybe there's something about the game... that I enjoy - that's different to other games, that makes me want to play this one over - the other games xD If every game became more and more like the "best" game however it is the subjective experience measure was evaluated - eventually we'd all only play Minecraft. Don't be so afraid to be unique and carve out your own game space GGG.

So question is how much resistance will character have after ending campaign, same -60 like in poe 1 or -30 or even just 0 after all quest bosses like this?

elemental monk, the time and elemental sorceresses, and deadeye. I think the gemling commando is gonna be busted day 1 tho. no way that stays the same until launch
I feel like ggg played a lot of rumble on league if legends recently. In regards to infernalist.
hi, where can you see the Ascendancie passiv notes or are the pictures a photo from the live stream?
Just a photo at the moment.
@@blackomega34 thanks
@blackomega34 also yes gemling legionere and chaos monk even chronomancer provides huge qol for minion builds, but setting up the tree for those classes are tough as they start alot far away from minion nodes( at least that's the case in Poe 1 and passive tree has alot of similarities in terms of positioning)
sirgog thumbs never dissappoint
PoE1's damage conversion always made perfect sense to me - it jsut has an order. What do you find complex about it?
The main thing that worries me, and maybe this will be addressed with release or throughout EA, but I'm not a fan of how it sounds like certain weapons are kinda locked in with certain elements, like bows have cold, lightning, and poison. What does this mean for burning arrow, bleed bow, ele hit? These are large archetypes that would be a bummer to miss out on.
There's probably conversion (eg. cold to fire) or ailment change (eg. your lightning damage can ignite) from items and uniques. And they'll be adding more skills over time so probably not an issue.
Thanks
I wanna play the ascendancy that uses shields effectively. So titan?
suffering to know parts of each ascendancy but not all of them. also no complete skill tree. i want to theorycraft a build ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
leaning towards the infernalist but just don't have enough information. i wonder if they even plan to give the rest of the ascendancy details and tree before release or if they want people to have to launch without complete information. i kinda like either but it certainly makes it rougher for now to not know.
Goat thumbnail as always. 😂
Thumbnail goes so hard
This will probably sound silly, but I would like to know if sceptres can use mace skills
I'm joining Magefist and doing Flicker Strike Monk. I mean... was there ever a choice?
My burning question is
Do all of the ascendancy skills "level up" to 20?
As we know the ascendancy skills can be supported
But afaik, there is no way to "upgrade" the skill to lvl 20
Could it possibly be already a "lvl 20" skill?
Either way, I'll have time to fiddle with things lol
Tornado shot + Zealous Inq seems kinda busted? There's some crosstalk that most certainly can be done.
So far we haven't seen any brand skill, no ? Same for traps/mines i think ?
Brands are confirmed gone. Traps are a weapon type now.
@@paradoxtwozerosixthree1661 Thanks for the info !
I would really like to know how the controls will work, I think people aren't taking into account that it might be totally different for 1&2
You choose between poe1 controls (click to move) or WASD. Only two flasks.
@@blackomega34 or controller
I'm so confused about your take Chayula's Gift part of this video. It just states Chaos Resistance is doubled, that doesn't imply a downside so why would we be going negative values here?
He means if we get hit with resistance penalties like with the Kitava fights in POE 1
What's two times negative 30? It's negative 60.
There's a Prismatic-Golden-Azure anoint in POE1 that has the 'chaos res is doubled' text and that's how it works.
@@sirgog Appreciate the response, thank you
1296 class combinations on release
Cheers!
Stormweaver spark. I am basing this on bzzzt.
Witch Hunter because the artwork looks badass and Chronomancer because Za Warudo.
Infernalist for me. Love the idea of playing as a demon ha.
Insane thumb love it
yeah i play Infernalist srs
I believe the blood mage's first node is quite experimental from GGG. This is the first time that everybody who wants to be a blood mage NEEDS to take the same starting node. And by initial looks of it, it feels more of a downside than an upside.
5 ascendancies on release and adding bard (true aurabot class) and alchemist (concoction mechanic), along multiclass sytem with bonus for certain weapons with all that the combinations become even wider and balanced still
why the fuck would they make the livestream TWO weeks beforehand, I WANT TO LOG IN
Howdy, Sir Gog
the game is about bosses im playing the witch hunter for sure
gemling legionnare necro yep
Chad chaos bard gog
It's worth noting that spirit has other ways to scale it via weapons and campaign boss rewards. The base darkness pool will be a larger than 100.
20:30 - it seems like you are making the assumption that resistances will be lowered at some points in PoE2 as well, I think they most likely won't do that so that.
More that it MIGHT be done. Wouldn't surprise me either way
@@sirgog I think one thing that speak against them doing it is that it's another one of those things that is very confusing for new players. It's really just a remnant of back when there was 3 difficulties in PoE.
75 res cap seems low when you don't have any penalties and get free res from bosses in campaign (even if it just ends up as 10% all res)
I do expect at least a total -40% res penalty
0 seconds in. I don't even know what this video is about or its title but that Sirgog thumbnail is crazy and made me immediately click on it
"We won't have cluster jewels in PoE2" ...yet
I doubt divine flesh will return..
you could take the new Mind over matter + chaos inoculation + divine flesh. Leaving you chaos immune. 50 % of elemental damage gone.
On the AoC monk you could slap eldritch battery on and have energy shield as spender and mana as life, both with instant leech.
I also don't expect Divine Flesh but who knows?
Path Tuah
My suggestion is play merc and guns just incase a certain leak comes true.
@@sirgog I believe his exact words were everything thrown together for maps is balanced around cluster grenading the whole screen*
